Harry Potter will never go away. Having upgraded from a mere series to nothing short of an empire, the Potterverse is incomparable magic. Star Wars may have more fans and The Lord of the Rings may have age on its side, but Harry Potter is untouchable in its own right. In fact, were Horcruxes not so evil, every fan on this planet might as well be a Horcrux for the series — pieces of it split off all around the world making up the whole. Since it's not evil, that's not at all the case, but you get the idea...

Since Harry Potter is so seamlessly blended into our lives, it makes sense that we'd know every tidbit of information regarding the series (ahem, empire), right? As drenched in the mythos as every Potterhead clearly is, there can't possibly be any more secrets to be solved, one would assume. Well, one would also be wrong. And you're about to find out why. Keep reading to get your Muggle mind blown with these 15 Harry Potter memes that will seriously mess with your head.

Potterheads know a decent amount about Voldemort's past and family. It's a muddled past, but Jo Rowling gave fans enough to work with. What she did not give fans was any information regarding the blatant connection between Voldemort and—of all things—The Emperor's New Groove. That's right, Voldemort has a sister. And yes, it's Yzma. Visually, sure, it's comical, but when you check out the details, it almost seems too real to not be true. Her cup as a Dark Mark on it. Like, that's literally the Dark Mark. And her skin! Her lack of a nose! Hell, even her black robe!

Just when you thought life couldn't smack you upside the head anymore than it already does, this sort of revelation comes to light. Seriously, though, what is life?

14 Gryffindor... Griffin Door... OMG

If you've ever wondered which Hogwarts house Dumbledore favored most, it's not exactly one of the series' more difficult mysteries. Even looking past the fact that he never shied away from giving the house bonus points at the end of the year just to make sure that they always managed to slide into the winning spot, the series dropped another hint that some readers might have actually missed out on. Even though it's ridiculously blatant — if you're paying attention. When Harry goes up to visit Dumbledore in his office, he does so at the statue of a griffin. In fact, this griffin is the doorway up to Dumbledore's office. It's a griffin door. A griffin door.

IT'S A FREAKING GRYFFINDOR! GRYFFINDOR! How the hell did we miss this?!

13 This Series, Man...

Via: Pinterest

The Harry Potter series as a whole is filled to the brim with details most people never noticed. But these details aren't just limited to the books. Oh no. Even the filmmakers took some shots at the minor details. Well, "minor details" that turned out to be epic. This dad in this meme understands the series in a way that most fans might have never even considered. There were seven books, so there should have been seven movies. But there weren't. The producers got greedy and decided to split the last movie up. Or did they? Was greed really the reason, or were the producers far cleverer than some fans were willing to consider? It turns out that making eight movies instead of seven perfectly complements the Horcrux subplot of the series. So, if you wanted to have your mind blown, there you go.

12 Elvis And Baguettes

Via: Dorkly

The Harry Potter series has thankfully been translated into over 70 different languages, not only helping build the fanbase, but giving people all over the world the opportunity to read the series. That being said, some of the translations don't work quite as well as one might assume. Take for instance how the series was translated in France. Turns out that Voldemort isn't just famous on his own, he shares that fame with a musical Muggle: Elvis Presley. To make matters even more amusing, it turns out that wands in the Harry Potter universe aren't called "wants" at all. They're called baguettes.

That's right. During all of the countless battles in the Harry Potter series, wizards and witches aren't fighting each other with their wands, they're fighting with "baguettes". They're fighting with delicious loaves of bread (or that's what us, English-speakers want to think!).

11 When Hades Met Hagrid

Via: On Sizzle

Hagrid has seen some wild stuff. He's been on wild adventures, met some interesting characters, and got himself into a bit of trouble in the process. Still, it's how he got his hands on Fluffy, the three-headed dog, that is the most fascinating piece of information regarding his wild life. He mentions in the book how he got Fluffy, but he skimps on the details. Leave it to readers, though, to figure it out for sure. The "Greek chappie in the pub" who just so happens to have a three-headed dog. Sorry, but... that's literally Hades. Hagrid went to a bar, met Hades, and got his hands on Cerberus, the giant beast that guards the underworld.

Is it a stretch? Not really. Not when you take into account the fact that this world is literally consumed with magic! Nothing's impossible.

10 The Peverell Brothers

Via: Pinterest

In The Deathly Hallows, readers learn about the Peverell Brothers. Each of them owns one of the Deathly Hallows—the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, and the Invisibility Cloak—and through them, readers learn about the powers of these three objects. As it turns out, even though the Peverell brothers were very much their own characters, Rowling may have been even more clever with her storytelling than even her fans might have ever known. As this post explains, the Tale of the Three Brothers may very well extend beyond the story in the The Tales of Beedle the Bard. They may also make up Voldemort, Snape, and Harry himself — "The one who died for power, the one who died for lost love, and the one who greeted death like an old friend."

What?!

9 J.K. Rowling Is A Mind-Melter

Via: Pinterest

Okay, so you had your mind blown in that previous post. But are you ready for even more? Short answer: no, you're not. So, you should probably sit down (assuming you're standing up while reading this, which begs the question, "Why are you standing up while reading this?). So, the bombshell that was the revelation that Voldemort, Snape, and Harry may as well be the Peverell brothers was crazy enough, but the fact that Dumbledore may as well be Death from that story is NEXT. LEVEL. BONKERS! But in a totally believable way. Whether or not Jo made this connection on purpose is irrelevant, because it makes too much sense to just ignore. This series really doesn't know how to give up on blowing minds.

8 That Bastard!

Via: On Sizzle

Ready to have your heart broken? Fans witnessed a genuinely heartbreaking moment when Hermione had no other choice but to erase her from her parents' memory. She did it to save them, but that's not to say it wasn't painful to witness, let alone how painful it must have been to actually perform the spell herself! To make things worse (because, of course, that's going to be the case), it turns out that the actress who played Hermione's mother is the same actress who played Catelyn Stark in Game of Thrones, and the actor who played the horrible excuse of a man, Argus Filch, is the same actor who played the horrible excuse of a man, Walder Frey. "Filch had Hermione's mother killed." That's reason enough to hate Filch even more than readers already do.

Barty Crouch Jr. was one of the major villains of The Goblet of Fire. Or was he? Even though the revelation that Mad Eye Moody is actually BCJ proves that he was a bad guy all along. It's worth considering the fact, seeing as BCJ was played by David Tennant, that he was actually just the Doctor from Doctor Who showing up to hopefully "save the day." Having seen the future and knowing how powerful the Twilight series would turn out to be, the Doctor traveled back in time to Harry Potter's fourth year at Hogwarts, disguised himself as BCJ disguising himself as one of Harry's professors, and took violent matters into his own hands to make sure that the Twilight series never happened. Sure, it meant that he had to kill a student, but... maybe he thought it was worth it in the grand scheme of things? It's totally possible, people.

6 Hogwarts Canoodling

Harry Potter is hardly an inappropriate series. Does it try to have a bit of fun sometimes, tossing out jokes that may go over some kids' heads? Sure. But it's all in good fun. Then, however, comes the film adaptation of The Prisoner of Azkaban. Director Alfonso Cuarón really wanted to play with the fact that the main characters in this entry are 13-year-olds, which means that it's only natural they'd do typical 13-year-old things (for example, did you know that the opening scene where Harry is practicing with his wand is meant to represent masturbation?). However, even in the end credits, he goes a step further and shows what can only be described as two characters having sex on the Marauders Map — just look at that foot placement.

Honestly, Mr. Cuarón, let's keep in mind that this is kids movie, m'kay?

When the filmmakers who created Harry Potter tied the series up nicely with The Deathly Hallows, they weren't taking the lazy route. In fact, they didn't miss a beat when it came to the finer details, regardless of whether or not audiences noticed or not. Remember the baby in The Sorcerer's Stone? Well, turns out that that same actor returned yet again for the series, not playing young Harry this time around, but HIS OWN SON, Albus.

So, yeah, the filmmakers wanted to make sure that this casting choice wasn't random. They felt the fuel of Pottermania, and they went all in, making Potterheads everywhere weep out of pure happiness for the sheer amount of detail. Casting Directors, you made fans all around the world even prouder to call this series home.

4 I'm Sorry, But... What?!

Via: Pinterest

Plenty of wizards and witches are related by blood in the Wizarding World. What with it being such a small community, it's only natural that characters like Sirius Black and Arthur Weasley would be related (honestly, they really are). However, who would have ever guessed that these types of relations would extend off camera as well? It turns out that Brendan Gleeson (Mad Eye Moody) and Bill Weasley (Domhnall Gleeson) are father and son. They may not share many physical similarities (especially when they're in costume), but it's the truth.

Now, even though it really has no effect on how the movies play out, it's sort of comforting in a way seeing these sort of familial ties in the series. It makes everyone in the films seem somehow even more connected than they already are. It's also pretty damn mind-blowing. Who the heck would have thought that this would have ever been the case? Well, for everyone not ridiculously obsessed with the film industry, that is...

3 Parallel Lives

Via: On Sizzle

The first film that Daniel Radcliffe starred in after the last Harry Potter film was The Woman in Black. It was a horror film, showing that Radcliffe was more than ready and more than capable of handling material that was perhaps more mature than the sort of story he was used to playing (though that's not to say that death, ghosts, and horror weren't already very much part of the Harry Potter universe). What's especially fascinating about this, however, is the fact that the actor who played Harry's father, Adrian Rawlins, also starred in an adaptation of The Woman in Black back in 1989, playing the exact same role! Here everyone thought it was fun enough seeing the actor who played Aberforth Dumbledore starring alongside Radcliffe, but no — this takes things to a whole other level. I wonder if Dan ever even knew this before taking the role...

2 Uh, Snape, Are You Sure About That?

Via: Dump A Day

One of the most important bits of information in the Harry Potter series is the fact that Harry has his mother Lily's eyes. They're both green, and their watch reminds Snape of Lily every time he sees him. That's what makes his life feel as painful as it does. However, seeing as Daniel Radcliffe had issues with contacts while he was filming The Sorcerer's Stone, it wasn't possible to give him the green eyes that his character required. At the time, the filmmakers didn't think that this would be too big of an issue, so they just looked past it.

The biggest issue, however, is the fact that the filmmakers went out of their way to cast a young Lily Potter who doesn't even have the same eye color as Daniel Radcliffe. She has brown eyes! There's literally nothing similar about their eyes in the slightest! So, what gives filmmakers? Huh? What the hell gives?

1 Hogwarts Creepfest '92

Via: Me.me

Anyone who's ever read the Harry Potter books or seen the movies knows that Ron Weasley's pet rat, Scabbers, is actually Peter Pettigrew. A rat is his Animagus form, so he stayed a rat for 12 long years in order to evade detection. A clever ruse, it's also incredibly creepy, considering the fact that he was sleeping in the same bed as a young boy for pretty much the boy's entire young life. As this post points out, that could very well be the reason why the spell didn't work. Yeah, Ron's not the greatest spell-caster in the Wizarding World (not at first, at least), but maybe the reason why he couldn't transfigure his rat into a cup wasn't his fault at all — because the rat wasn't really a rat at all! That's some mind-blowing mind-blowingness if there ever was any.
