We can't get enough of Misha Collins as Castiel on Supernatural. He's the glue that holds the Winchesters together. Without him, they'd probably be dead by now, don't you think? Of course, Collins is much more than just our favorite television angel. The actor has had various other roles on television and film. And guess what? His real name isn't even Misha Collins. It's Dmitri Tippens Krushnic. Yeah, no wonder he changed it. It just doesn't have the same ring to it. Collins is married to his high school sweetheart and he happens to be full of surprises. It's always fun to learn trivia about the stars we love. It makes them feel more human to us. We've picked out 15 of our favorite Misha Collins facts and we bet more than a few will shock you.

15 He's A Good Guy Through And Through

https://englishlitgirl.tumblr.com/post/159562835979/love-always-wins-here-is-a-cropped-version-of-my

In reality, Misha Collins is far from being anything like the creepy serial killer he portrayed in Karla (don't worry, we'll get to that part). He actually founded a charity called 'Random Acts.' When disaster struck in Haiti, in 2009, Collins decided to employ the help of his many Twitter followers in an effort to raise money for relief efforts. In total, over $30,000 was raised. The whole fundraiser inspired him to create a charity that would focus on promoting similar 'random acts of kindness.' The charity has been true to its mission, once even providing shoes for a child in need after his dad became jobless. It's such a nice idea for a charity, giving back in small amounts to people who are struggling, or who have been generous to others themselves.

14 He Wasn't Supposed To Be A Cast Regular On 'SPN'

https://blurryfandoms.tumblr.com/post/159046012723/sammy-represents-the-mishamigos-so-accurately

Can you believe it? Misha Collins wasn't even supposed to be a regular on SPN! Castiel was never meant to last more than a few episodes. Originally, he was slated to appear in three episodes of the hit television series. The number quickly moved up to six episodes and the more he appeared on the show, the more episodes he was written in to. It seemed Collins' Castiel stole the hearts of fans and showrunners alike. His character was actually supposed to be killed off a few times, but each time he was re-written back somehow. In fact, Collins played the angel with a gruff voice thinking he wouldn't be around for much longer. Since he was scooped up as a series regular, he had to keep up the deep voice as he continued playing Castiel.

13 He Was Once Arrested

http://idjitlovespie.tumblr.com/post/158556755785/credit-adorbstiel

Yep, you read that right. Misha Collins was once arrested. He's shared the story of his arrest with fans when attending a Supernatural convention. He was out late at night and decided on the spur of the moment that he wanted to read a book he had brought along. Unfortunately, he forgot to bring a book-light with him, so he was without an adequate light source to read his book. He noticed, not too far from him, a light on top of a bank that seemed to be the perfect intensity for reading. He stationed himself atop the bank and began to read. Likely a couple of pages into the book, the police arrived and he heard a helicopter above. He was cuffed and arrested because it was believed he was a bank robber trying to break into the building to rob the place. Thankfully, this minor mishap only got him one night in the slammer.

12 He's A Published Poet

http://bubblemish.tumblr.com/post/159520271440/everything-that-you-ever-needed-resides-inside-you

Misha Collins is a poet, didn't you know? Yep, he's even managed to get some of his poetry published. His poems have been published in several literary journals and you can also find various videos of Collins online where he's reciting poetry. He clearly has a way with words. Writing impactful poetry is such a lost art; our favorite poets seem to speak right to our soul. It's definitely true that words can have an impact on a person. Poetry is the perfect way to express oneself and get a deeper glimpse into the mind of another. If you're interested in checking out Collins' poetry, you can find some of it online. You can find his poems titled "Baby Pants" and "Old Bones" via a quick Google search.

11 He Has A Web Series

That's right, Misha Collins has an adorable web series called Cooking Fast and Fresh with West, where he cooks healthy home-cooked meals with his son, West. It's so cute to watch the two make a meal together. Collins is clearly a great dad. The web series is his attempt to teach his son about healthy cooking and eating. We think it's important for kids to learn about a healthy lifestyle early on. It's important for our youth to learn how to cook and to learn about what's healthy and what's better consumed in moderation. Cooking with kids is a great way to show them that no food is bad, and that cooking from scratch is a joyous thing. Even better is showing kids where their food comes from.

10 He Once Played A Canadian Serial Killer

http://mythicalfannibal.tumblr.com/post/93059517966/misha-collins-favorites-characters-25-paul

The actor played infamous Canadian serial killer, Paul Bernardo in the 2006 film Karla. He played the creepy role alongside Laura Prepon, who played Karla Homolka. The film is based on real events that took place in Scarborough, Ontario, a suburb of Toronto, Canada. It's not a great movie by any means, and the film portrays Homolka very sympathetically, which is something some folks have been quick to criticize. Still, if you're a Misha Collins fan, it's an interesting enough movie to watch. It's not for the faint of heart and you might finish Karla feeling a bit conflicted about your love for Collins. He plays the evil killer quite convincingly. Actually, he's creepy AF. Watching him in the role of Bernardo gave us the heebie-jeebies. Seriously.

9 He Interned At The White House (!?)

http://mishasminions.tumblr.com/post/158220276649

Before he started getting super serious about his acting career and before he played Castiel on Supernatural, Misha Collins actually got a chance to intern at the White House. He did his internship at the time when Bill Clinton was in office. He was looking towards a career in the political sphere but the internship actually managed to change his mind about his future. We've all been in this situation at one point or another. It's enriching, and we get some life experience out of it, but it also helps us realize what we really want out of life. Sounds familiar, right? For a lot of us, figuring out what we want out of life is difficult. We can only hope to have a similar experience like Collins, that will help us put the pieces into place.

8 He Was Mugged During A 'Supernatural' Convention

http://stayclassysupernatural.tumblr.com/post/116506066631

Yes, poor Misha Collins ran into some trouble while participating in a Supernatural convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2015. He was mugged and even physically assaulted during the incident. Fans were quick to respond on Twitter with well wishes for the actor. He even had to cancel some of his planned appearances at the convention. He didn't end up with any serious injuries, but apparently, his face had seen better days. Ouch! It seems the criminal or criminals involved didn't know who Collins was. We'll assume they weren't Supernatural fans! Who would want to beat up poor angelic Castiel!? Obviously someone with a death wish. Maybe it was some baddie from Heaven or one of Crowley's cronies? Either way, we're glad Collins is safe and sound.

7 He Has Organized Epic Scavenger Hunts

http://ibelieveinthelittletreetopper.tumblr.com/post/160088941583/misha-i-am-mortified-that-this-sex-tape-has-been

Misha Collins has organized some pretty epic scavenger hunts. Collins is the founder of GISHWHES (Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen). (We had no idea this was even a thing.) If that sounds awesome to you, you're not alone. We're with you - we love scavenger hunts! Last year the hunt took place between July and August. Misha's intention for the whole thing was to get people outside of their bubbles; to get them to step outside of their comfort zones. Some of the tasks included for those signed up were totally insane, but it's clear that the spirit of the event is lighthearted and fun. It seems like a really fun event to take part in. We hope GISHWHES returns in 2017 so we can try to step outside of our comfort zones, too!

6 He Once Paid Back A Debt Solely In Coins

http://clutzy-cas.tumblr.com/post/156444530384/happy-birthday-charlie-angvlicmish-youre-such-a

You might have paid back some money you owed only in coins, but we're willing to bet that the money you owed didn't total over $1,800... Misha Collins had a long-standing competition with Jared Padalecki on Words With Friends, the popular Scrabble-like word game app. Apparently, Collins was really bad at the game, which is strange considering he's a poet, and he ended up owing Padalecki quite a sum of money. There wasn't really any expectation of payment but there was a lot of teasing involved. Collins was good for it and to get the hassling to stop, he ended up paying Padalecki back entirely in coinage! That's a whole lot of coins and a great way to get someone to stop bugging you about your debt!

5 He Once Held A Tree Funeral

Weird, right? There's even a video of it. Misha Collins posted the video to his YouTube channel (which you can view above). In the eight-minute video, titled "Operation Stealth Nugget," Collins narrates and explains the mission that's about to be undertaken. Collins, his wife, and friends took a tree from a forest (killed due to a forest fire) to bury it on Hollywood boulevard—mind you, without the proper permits. Hence the Mission Impossible music. The tree is huge and it's a wonder they weren't stopped while 'burying' it. The tree roots were placed into a hole, covered with cement, and left standing. It was taken down three months later which is a pretty long time considering how ugly it looked. They adorned it with lanterns but really, that did nothing to improve the aesthetic.

4 He's Married To A Sex Historian

https://vapazzo.tumblr.com/post/145900976600

Misha Collins is married to his high school sweetheart, which is the cutest thing we've ever heard. We love when two hearts meet at a young age and seem to have found their soulmate within each other. His wife, Victoria, also happens to be a sex historian. The couple has been married since 2002, and we bet being wed to someone who studies the history of sex is pretty interesting. Victoria has even written books on the subject of sex: The Threesome Handbook: A Practical Guide to Sleeping With Three and The Jet Sex: Airline Stewardesses and the Making of an American Icon. Um, talk about fascinating stuff. The couple is pretty private but we're willing to bet they've got a healthy sex life!

3 He Was Really Bummed Out About The 2016 Election

http://cry-love-laugh-fandom.tumblr.com/post/152765835585/nope

Misha Collins was super bummed about the results of the 2016 election (I mean, wasn't everyone?). He was definitely not pleased when it was revealed that Donald Trump had won the election and was slated to become President of the United States. He wasn't the only dejected one, of course. The results upset a lot of people and even shocked some. Collins was so heartbroken by the results that he decide to post a video to his Facebook page to talk about his feelings surrounding the whole thing. In the video, his eyes actually start to well-up and you can tell how deeply he's affected. It's not just a feeling of loss and sadness, though. Collins ends his video with words of hope and it's clear his intention is not to give up.

2 He Started A GoFundMe To Buy Trump's Browsing History

http://ehghtyseven.tumblr.com/post/124005513198/a-new-reaction-gif-courtesy-of-misha

Earlier this year, Misha Collins managed to raise a hefty sum of money via a GoFundMe in an effort  to purchase President Trump's Internet browser history (we're serious). The creation of the fundraising campaign was in response to a Congress ruling on Internet privacy. The ruling stripped a lot of privacy from Internet users. Why not try and do the same to the President of the United States to prove a point? It's not clear whether the GoFundMe funds will actually be able to be used for their intended purpose, but it's a clever way to make a point. Either way, it's clear that the campaign has resonated with many people. Collins has managed to raise over $80-thousand from willing donors. If he can't manage to buy Trump's browsing history we can at least hope that good things will be done with those funds.

1 He's Got An Idea For An 'SPN' Ending

http://yourfavoritedirector.tumblr.com/post/159360306388

We've also got an idea for an SPN ending! Here it goes...the ending is that it never ends! Pretty great, right? We envision watching Sam and Dean grow old throughout the next umpteen seasons. Castiel would have to stay the same age, though. Hmmm...that might pose some problems. Listen, we're just fans, but we can dream. Misha Collins' idea for the show's ending isn't far off from ours, though. He thinks the show should end on episode number 666. It's fitting for a show about the supernatural and demons but wait...that's a long while from now. That would mean that the show would end at season 30! Hey, Supernatural has come this far. We're happy to keep watching for years to come. Even if it's just to oggle at the handsome stars, Collins included.
