Keeping in mind the fact that most actors will never enjoy notable success in Hollywood, it seems virtually impossible that more than one member of a family could ever make it. Despite that, there are many examples of siblings who’ve made their mark in the acting business.

Over much of the last three decades, Luke and Owen Wilson have been among the most famous siblings in the movie business. While moviegoers have been aware of the fact that Owen and Luke are brothers for decades at this point, most people are unaware that they have another brother.

During the interviews that Andrew Wilson has taken part in, it has been clear that he has a good sense of humor when it comes to living in his brothers’ shadows. That said, if you think that Andrew isn’t worthy of attention, you have another thing coming.

Major Careers

At various points in Luke Wilson’s career, it has seemed like he was underestimated by the powers that be in Hollywood and moviegoers at large. However, that is a crying shame as Luke has starred in many movies that have gone on to be considered classics. For example, Luke headlined films like Legally Blonde, The Royal Tenenbaums, Old School, and Idiocracy.

At the height of Owen Wilson’s career, he was one of the biggest comedy stars in the world. Best known for films like Meet the Parents, Zoolander, Wedding Crashers, Night at the Museum, and Midnight in Paris, it is clear that Owen will go down in Hollywood history.

An Admirable Career

Given the fact that Andrew Wilson is less famous than his siblings Owen and Luke, it may come as a surprise to most people that he became an actor first. That said, once you learn that Andrew is four years older than Owen and seven years older than Luke, it makes a lot more sense that he was the first Wilson brother to act. First seen in a TV movie called The Last U-Boat, Andrew’s sophomore role came in a 1995 film called House of Pain.

In 1996, the independent movie Bottle Rocket was released and put Luke and Owen Wilson on the map since they played the two main characters in the film. While Bottle Rocket didn’t launch Andre Wilson’s career in the same way, he did have a small role in the movie and he also was credited as an associate producer on the film.

Since the release of Bottle Rocket, Andrew Wilson has enjoyed a great deal of success as an actor. Most often cast in small roles, Andrew appeared in many of his brother’s films including Never Been Kissed, Charlie’s Angels, and Zoolander. In an amusing twist, in the film Idiocracy, Andrew portrayed the character Beef Supreme, a warrior who attempted to take the life of someone who was portrayed by his brother Luke. In addition to the times Andrew appeared in his brother’s films, he has also shown in a slew of other movies including Serving Sara, Whip It, and Fever Pitch.

In addition to Andrew Wilson’s acting career, he and his brother Luke co-directed a 2005 film called The Wendell Baker Story. A true family affair, the movie starred Luke and Owen Wilson. According to what Luke told People Magazine during an interview about the film, when the brothers didn’t get along on the set of that movie, Andrew typically got his way. As for why that was the case, Luke jokingly explained by calling Andrew the “biggest one”.

An Interesting Life

Since Andrew Wilson has never been a huge celebrity, it makes sense that not much is known about his personal life. Of course, everyone knows about Andrew’s brothers and the identity of his parents is far from a secret. On top of that, according to reports Andrew married a woman named Nnogo Obiamiwe, they had a son together, and then they got divorced. There also is some conjecture that Andrew has children from other relationships but that is far from confirmed.

While there are several people in his life that Andrew Wilson holds close, there was one time he desperately tried to keep something away from him. In December 2010, while Andrew was surfing while on vacation in Hawaii, a shark bit his foot. Fortunately, most of the time sharks aren’t nearly as deadly to humans as movies would have you believe so Andrew survived the bite intact. In fact, Owen Wilson once revealed that he found out about the shark attack in the most casual way possible. "I was sending a message to Andrew about some guy coming by to take a look at the TV. He sent back [a message saying], 'Sounds good, I was bitten by a shark so I won't be there.'"

When Andrew Wilson was bitten by a shark, his brother Owen wasn’t there. However, when the siblings were young Owen did something that would change Andrew’s body. While playing with a BB gun, Owen shot Andrew in the hand, presumably on accident. Amazingly enough, the pellet seemingly remains in Andrew’s hand to this day.
