Actor Tristan Spohn has quickly gained a fandom of his own after starring as the #002 in Season 4 of the Netflix original series Stranger Things. With the second part of the fourth season just around the corner and the show's final moments already mapped out by the Duffer Brothers, it's no surprised that fan expectations are reaching a fever pitch.

TheThings sat down with the 22-year-old rising star to hear more about his experience on set, the relationship with his cast members, and what he's learned from it all.

Warning: The following article contains minor spoilers for Stranger Things season 4.

Learning About The Industry From Millie Bobby Brown

Some of our favorite moments from Tristan's character were his on-screen moments with fellow Hawkins Lab kid 'Eleven', played by the incredible lead actress Millie Bobby Brown. Tristan later recalls that Millie shared with him an acting and film technique that he's sure to implement in future roles.

Professionally, I learned a ton of tools to get my body engaged in those high-stakes scenes. From doing something called a “series”, which I learned first from Millie, where you shoot a segment of a scene that’s particularly intense back to back to back as an easier way to ramp into the stakes of a scene.

The Texas-born actor revealed that he used that same technique in the iconic 'Circle Game' scene in this season.

"When we were doing the Circle Game in the Training Room, having to exert all of that force while staying completely still has become my favorite way to get my heart rate racing while needing to stay on a mark."

"I still use that even when my character doesn’t have telekinetic powers".- he added.

The Hawkins Lab Kids Have A Group Chat

Who knew they would have so much free time in there?

Out of the 18 Hawkins experiment kids that have been introduced in the Netflix show's storyline, fans quickly became attached to the ones we've seen on screen, so far. And it seems the actors have gotten an attachment to each other too.

Tristan revealed that the co-stars actually have a fun group chat to release their need to talk about the show.

Hahaha, we have a “Little Girl Beatdown” group chat. We would geek out at all the Stranger Things stuff together when everything was hush-hush and we could only talk to each other about it.

The Hawkins child that he connected with the most was #005 and fellow acting newcomer Jessica Arder Napier.

"Me and Jessica Arder Napier (#005) were the only numbers over 18, so we would stay on-set while all the kids went to hangout in mandatory on-set school between scenes."

And even though they aren't siblings in real life, Tristan still holds a strong place in his heart for the group.

"I definitely root for all of them like they’re my little siblings and would always be there if they ever needed any guidance." he shares. "They all have wonderful careers ahead of them, whether in the film industry or not!"

Tristan Doesn't Treat His Co-Stars As If They Are Famous

Even though the 22 year-old actor did most of his scenes with an Emmy-Winning actress and other cast members with years of roles under their belt, Tristan intentionally say them as just another actor.

The greatest realization an actor can have is it’s not at all about them. It’s about the story they’re servicing.

"I don’t say that to diminish how big of a blessing it is to work with truly talented actors that are widely respected," he assures. "I say that because for the longest time I put it on this pedestal that made all of this feel unattainable."

Tristan adds that seeing his co-stars as intimidating previously affected how he approached his own role.

Being able to see that it’s just people creating made it easier for me to feel like I belonged, which made it easier to just focus on the work, instead of wanting to “impress”. That need to “impress” was one of the biggest things that held me back as an actor because it made me more focused on “putting on a show” than honoring the story.

We're ecstatic to hear that the Stranger Things cast really treat each other like family in real life! Find out who makes it out of season 4 alive when the second part drops July 1st, only on Netflix.
