On the big screen, fans know comedy actor Owen Wilson as an endearingly clueless guy, who spends more time floating in the clouds, rather than taking action. In films like Wedding Crashers, the actor is both whimsical and off-beat. Midnight In Paris plays on his naturally dream-like aura to imagine him as a romantic navigating a journey to the last century. Based solely on these roles, it might even seem like the actor is from some kind of fairy world. His reality, though, could not be further from the truth.

Owen’s private life has been somewhat of a roller coaster. The peaks have been extremely high, to the point that his ex-girlfriend Sheryl Crowe wrote the song “Safe And Sound” as a tribute to their relationship. But in terms of lows, Owen has three children with three different women... none of whom are still with him. We have done some digging into Owen Wilson’s baby mamas to clue readers in to the star’s struggle with modern family life.

Welcoming His First Born

In 2011, Owen served the world an enormous shock when he announced that his girlfriend Jade Duell was expecting a baby. Up until that point, the actor had kept his romance with Jade on the ‘DL’, so fans were surprised to discover that Owen was dating at all. The second round of shock arrived just four days after the initial announcement when Jade went into labor and gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Robert. The announcement was so sudden that it left the world wondering: why all of the secrecy?

The answer to that question is complicated, but one major factor could be that Duell is not a celebrity like her baby daddy is. Unlike Owen, who is used to living his life in the public eye, Duell’s whole career was based on secrecy. As an Air Marshal, the working mama protects the American people by working as a policewoman on commercial air flights, reports The Daily Mail. A key part of her job is keeping her identity as a member of law enforcement as secret as possible. Not exactly compatible with Hollywood!

Because of these differences, the couple split just five months after Robert’s birth. An inside source reportedly told The Daily Mail that Owen wasn’t ready for the commitment of family life. “Owen wanted the freedom to do what he wanted with his friends, both male and female,” dished the source. The actor soon moved on.

On Again, Off Again

Just three years after Robert came into the world, Owen’s occasional girlfriend Caroline Lindqvist revealed that she, too, was expecting. Unlike Duell, who seemed to be originally after a more serious commitment, Caroline was actually married at the time of her pregnancy to the successful plastic surgeon Ritu Chapra. How awkward!

According to The Tampa Bay Times, Caroline and her husband were technically separated during the time she had her fling with Owen. She reportedly asked Dr. Chapra for a quick and quiet divorce upon discovering her pregnancy, and the surgeon agreed. Neither Caroline nor her husband hired a lawyer when filing through the proceedings, and the expectant mama walked away from what otherwise would have been a substantial divorce settlement.

A few months later, she gave birth to Owen’s second son Finn. While the two didn’t make much of an effort to pursue a traditional family life, Caroline and Owen have remained fast friends throughout the years. The Daily Mail even spotted the dynamic duo out and about in Miami before the start of quarantine.

The Abandonment Scandal

Unfortunately, Owen does not get along with all of his baby mamas as well as he does with Caroline. And, in the case of his third child, the actor takes his relationship issues out on his own baby. So sad!

Model Varunie Vongsvirates gave birth to a baby girl Lyla in 2018, following a casual relationship with the actor. The Morning Bulletin reports that Owen did not believe that Lyla was his child until he saw conclusive genetic test results. Afterwards, he agreed to pay his baby mama $438,720 per year in child support, although the actor specifically requested to give up all custody of his daughter.

Vongsvirates maintains that Owen has refused to meet Lyla. Indeed, the actor never references his daughter in interview. This has not prevented the model from supporting her baby girl. “She’s incredible,” said the proud mama in an interview. When asked what she would like to say to Owen, Vongsvirates stated, “You’re really missing out. She looks just like you.”
