The Witcher season 2 is out on Netflix, and just when fans were sad to see it end, it delivered a pleasant surprise at the future of the show's universe. Netflix greenlighted a prequel for the adaptation based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels in the past, and the streamer attached a teaser trailer for The Witcher: Blood Origins to the final episode of the season as a post-credits scene. Now it's out for everyone to see!

The prequel spin-off is set in an Elven world 1,200 years before the timeline of Henry Cavill's The Witcher. It "will tell a story lost to time — the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal 'Conjunction of the Spheres,' when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one."

Michelle Yeoh Plays Scian

The show stars Michelle Yeoh (last seen in MCU's Shang-Chi) as Scian, a mystical swordmaster who is on a mission to retrieve a sword. We see Sophia Brown as the elite warrior Éile as she connects with companions Scian and Fjall, portrayed by Laurence O’Fuarain.

The show doesn't give away much information about its plot, but we see the elves training each other and Éile, Fjall, and Scian traveling across vast landscapes. We also see a conflict between the elves and the Continent's armed forces. Per Scian's character description, she is the last of her nomadic tribe of sword-elves and launches herself into finding a sacred sword stolen from her tribe, not knowing her quest will change the Continent forever,

Yeoh appears to be one of the central protagonists along with Brown, but will her adventure cause the world of humans and elves to merge? We're yet to find out.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is just one of multiple Witcher-related projects Netflix has in the production pipeline following the immense success of the first season, following the adventures of Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan). The streamer has also approved a third season of the show, in addition to a second animated movie and other projects.

Previously, Jodie Turner-Smith was cast to play Éile in The Witcher: Blood Origins but had to back out due to scheduling conflicts.
