Seann William Scott scored big with his role as Steve Stifler in American Pie. This hit movie was the catalyst to his career being launched to absolute superstardom, and it really put him on the map as being a successful, recognized actor.

He was so convincing as Stifler that he became forever associated with the character and found it difficult to land more diverse roles in Hollywood. Finding himself pigeon-holed and typecast, he continued to take on a series of projects and remained active in the industry, but nothing he has touched since American Pie has been received with the same level of recognition. Here's what he's been up to since his glory days...

8 He Created Some Box Office Flops

It's not uncommon for an actor to see huge success in a singular role, but not be able to sustain the same traction elsewhere. Sadly, this was the truth for Seann, as he went on to act in other movies after American Pie, without any of them resonating with fans in the same way.

Sources reveal that he played roles in movies such as Southland Tales, The Promotion and Mr. Woodcock which all failed at the box office, and he even invested his time in films such as Trainwreck: My Life as an Idiot and Balls Out: Gary the Tennis Coach which didn't even get any play time in theaters whatsoever. There seemed to be nothing that he could do to generate as much interest as his American Pie days brought him.

7 He Proposed To A Victoria's Secret Model... Then Lost Her

Seann may not love the press, but he sure did love boasting his new engagement to the media when he proposed to Victoria's Secret model Lindsay Frimodt and got a big huge "yes" response from the stunning model.

Just as quickly as their love seemed to flourish, it was revealed that they were no longer an item, and the engagement was broken off. It has been reported that the two remain very good friends.

6 He Isolated Himself From The Public

Seann William Scott has never really loved the spotlight of fame and hasn't really indulged in exposing his personal life to the media or the paparazzi. He prefers solitude over the party lifestyle and has remained reclusive after his failed attempts at finding fame after American Pie.

In spite of always shying away from the cameras when he wasn't working, it was obvious that he was going the extra mile to isolate himself from the public in recent years and has remained dedicated to staying off social media as well.

5 He Secretly Got Married

Since he refrained from public appearances and interviews and refused to engage with fans on social media, Seann's star quickly faded and fans forgot about him entirely... until word spread that he had gotten secretly married.

It was soon revealed that he married Olivia Korenberg, who is an interior designer from Los Angeles. While the fact that the two were married has been officially confirmed, there have been no details or images from their wedding that have been shared with the public.

4 He Checked In To Rehab

Due to the fact that he has never really remained in the public eye, many fans were unaware that Seann William Scott completely disappeared for a while. Looper confirms that in an effort to prioritize his well-being and seek help for personal issues, he voluntarily checked himself in to a treatment facility.

There have been no reports as to what sort of rehabilitation was necessary, but it has been confirmed that he needed the interception from a professional facility to overcome his issues, which he seems to have accomplished with success.

3 He Tried To Shake Off Being Typecast

Despite being typecast as a guy cut out for playing louts, jerks, blowhards, and fools, Seann William Scott has occasionally been given the chance to play roles that weren't similar to or derivative of Stifler.

In 2003, for example, he co-starred as Kar in Bulletproof Monk, a comic book adaptation and English-language vehicle for Hong Kong star Chow Yun-Fat. A little bit of a fantasy, a little bit of a comedy, and mostly a martial arts action movie, Bulletproof Monk might have been too many things to attract too big of an audience — during its theatrical run, it earned $37 million worldwide against a $52 million budget.

2 He Tried Finding Success By Moving Away From Comedy

It quickly became obvious to Seann that he wasn't able to repeat his comedic role with the same success as he once saw with American Pie, so he made the conscious decision to stray from comedy altogether, in an effort to gain traction with his career.

He took on a role in the 2014 film Just Before I Go, in which he played an off-beat husband who was trying to put his affairs in order before taking his own life, and and 2018's horror movie Bloodline, which saw him getting credit for his work once again.

1 He Tried Voice-Overs

In an attempt to continue generating income and keep himself relevant, Seann really tried a variety of different avenues to keep himself current in Hollywood. When he began to explore voice-over roles, he saw some success and was able to remain behind he scenes, scoring high on many aspects of his own wish-list!

He put his distinctive voice to good use by providing the voice of Crash in the Ice Age franchise and was able to bank some money on this project to add some layers to his $25 million net worth.
