Sam Asghari has been heavily criticized after he shared his thoughts on documentaries made about his fiancée Britney Spears.

The 27-year-old Iranian–American actor wrote in a post on his Instagram Stories that numerous exposés on Britney's life left him with a "bad aftertaste."

His statement followed comments earlier this week in which he suggested documentary filmmakers shouldn't be able to make money from their films about Spears.

It comes in the wake of Netflix releasing a trailer for its upcoming documentary Britney Vs. Spears.

Asghari opened his text post by joking, "Apparently my opinion has increased in value over the last few days."

Although he made it clear he wasn't a fan of previous films and specials, he held out hope that Netflix's upcoming documentary would be "respectful."

"Past docs left bad after taste," he wrote. "I'm hopeful this one will be respectful. I don't blame CNN, BBC or NETFLIX (which got me thru lockdowns [praise hands]) for airing them because as an actor i tell other peoples stories too."

"I question producers who made them 'just to shed light' without input or approval from subject,' he continued.

He concluded by praising the #FreeBritney movement. Any credit for light being shed should go to #freebritney [heart emoji]."

Sam previously weighed in on Netflix's upcoming documentary when it posted the explosive first trailer for Britney Vs. Spears on its Instagram on Wednesday.

Asghari wrote in the comments: "I hope the profit from these docs go toward fighting agains[t] injustice #freebritney."

He then backed up an outspoken Britney fan's comment with a 100 percent emoji after they wrote:

"How much money is being made by third parties from this documentary leveraging Britney's personal story and its value in the media? There needs to be transparency about how or whether the filmmakers are profiting from this doc, or if they are donating their fees to Britney's legal defense."

But Asghari was quickly given the side-eye by fans who also accused him of also profiting from the star.

"He is a walking 'aftertaste," a shady comment read.

"He knows where the butter on his bread comes from. He's not going to say anything that is against what Britney wishes or in her 'best interest.' Aka his best interest. I feel bad for her because he's a leach," a second added.

"His reaction makes me suspicious of him targeting the very people that legitimized the FreeBritney movement. They helped set the wheels in motion for Britney to finally speak. Shouldn't her freedom be more important than what a documentary might profit to produce this story that needed to be told," a third commented

Asghari and 39-year-old Spears announced their engagement on Instagram September 13.
