Breaking into Hollywood is no easy task. Some stars peaked so early in their career that they end up quietly vanishing from the spotlight, while others had to wait until they landed an international breakthrough role. For every star who has made it to the screen, dozens of others have failed and disappeared from the business.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, these A-list stars have gained a reputation as actors and actresses who are "difficult to work with," and it's not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes, two creative minds don't always think alike, and imagine being in a room with dozens of different creative minds. Creative disputes always happen, and well, it's totally normal.
10 Justin Bieber
Although Justin Bieber is not exactly a movie star, the teen pop sensation made a surprising cameo in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. The Baby singer portrayed troubled youth Jason McCann, who gets written off at the end of the season.
However, actress Marg Helgenberger told French radio Le Grand Direct Des Medias that the singer was "kind of a brat" and "disrespectful" on set. He "locked" one of the producers in a closet and messed with a cake on the cast's table.
9 Katherine Heigl
After departing the long-running series that brought her fame, Grey's Anatomy, actress Katherine Heigl seemed to have a perplexing relationship with the showrunners. The actress nabbed her Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2008, because she felt like her character's arc wasn't up for contenders. Of course, creator Shonda Rhimes did not take the comments lightly.
Heigl landed a main role in Netflix's new series, Firefly Lane, so hopefully we will get to see more of her.
8 Megan Fox
Despite being constantly hailed as a modern-day sex symbol, Megan Fox does not hop from one man to another. The Transformer actress shared a rocky relationship with her former director Michael Bay and the two have since exchanged some not-so-nice words about each other. Fortunately, the long-running feud has ended, with Fox coming to terms with her former director.
7 Shia LaBeouf
Megan Fox's castmate in Transformers, Shia LaBeouf, also has had his fair share of problematic moments. Over the years, stories about the actor's misbehavior on set have spread, including the time when he fought Tom Hardy on the set of Lawless and had a public feud with his Broadway playmate Alec Baldwin. In addition, the actor has also experienced several run-ins with the law, with the latest being the sexual battery lawsuit in 2020.
6 Bruce Willis
Bruce Willis has an abundance of talents, and his acting portfolio speaks for itself. Formerly a Broadway actor, Willis has starred in the likes of Die Hard, Pulp Fiction, Over the Hedge, Motherless Brooklyn, The Fifth Element, The Sixth Sense, and many others.
However, the actor had a clash with Cybill Shepherd on the set of Moonlighting, and it wasn't too good for his career. As she told Entertainment Weekly, there came a point where the show literally pit its actors against each other both off-and-on the screen.
5 Lindsay Lohan
Unfortunately, her traumatic and controversial past with substance abuse seems to have flocked with former Disney star Lindsay Lohan. The Herbie: Fully Loaded star has a string of alcohol-related offenses, and her criminal history causes many publicists to refrain from working with her. Her latest major role was MTV's Lindsay Lohan Beach Club in 2019, which unfortunately flopped after only one season.
4 Gwyneth Paltrow
Oscar and Emmy-award winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow took her career to a whole new level with Glee. Unfortunately, it was her privilege that backfired fiercely at the actress. Being born with a silver spoon in her mouth, as noted from CheatSheet, Paltrow loves to flaunt herself on an extreme level to the point where many became easily fed up.
3 Edward Norton
Edward Norton is a man of many talents, or maybe too many talents. He sometimes edits his movie's final cuts and rewrites the screenplay against the writer's will. As noted from The Guardian, the actor has a tendency to question and clash with directors and producers regarding the overall vision of the film or project. He, however, has received a plethora of accolades, including a Golden Globe, and three nominations for the Oscars.
2 Charlie Sheen
Charlie Sheen is another talented actor who's difficult to work with. After a series of a public meltdowns, the actor was infamously fired from Two and a Half Man. Once the highest-paid actor on TV, Sheen took some time out of the spotlight to check himself in a substantial rehabilitation in 2011, while still on the set. In the next month, the actor made some not-so-nice comments about the showrunner, Chuck Lorre, resulting in his ban from entering the production lot.
1 Lea Michele
Lea Michele has also received notoriety as "unpleasant" and a "nightmare" to work with.
In Michele's support for the Black Lives Matter movement on Twitter, earlier in 2020, former Glee castmate Samantha Ware replied to the tweet stating the actress has made her "living hell" during the set of the musical series. Ware, who joined Glee in the sixth season, claimed that Michele frequently bullied her and threatened to fire her, with many other castmates backing Ware's statement.
