The Disney Plus original series, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series has just kicked off its second season. The show follows students of East High who put on a production of High School Musical last season and are now gearing up for their spring musical. Drama, romance, and musical numbers ensue.

HSMTMTS features newcomers, former Disney kids, and some experienced actors, but most of the cast got their breakout role on this series. Sofia Wylie, plays Gina in the series, and is one who is not new to the game. She has starred in other roles, such as Back of The Net and Shook. 

She is a dancer and actress who has racked up nearly 9 million followers on Tiktok, where she posts many videos of her doing the latest dance trends and original dances. Although fans may not know much about her, Wylie has definitely had experience in the entertainment business before.

10 She Is Only 17-Years-Old

Born on January 7, 2004, Sofia Wylie is currently 17-years-old. She was born in Scottsdale, Arizona to Chris and Amy Wylie, and grew up in Tramonto. She is a quarter Korean on her father's side. Sofia has an older sister named Isabella, who most people call Bella. Though she is only 17, she has a lot of experience under her belt and is only just taking off in her professional career.

9 Wylie Played Buffy Driscoll In 'Andi Mack'

Wylie's breakout role was playing Buffy Driscoll in the series Andi Mack. Buffy is Andi, Cyrus and Jonah's athletic and fun-loving best friend who isn't afraid to speak her mind. Her mother, Pat, is in the military. Her father is unnamed. Buffy first appeared in season 1, episode 13. Like Wylie in real life, Buffy is also a great dancer. At the time, Wylie was 13, portraying a 14-year-old.

8 Her Production Company Is Called AIFOS

Not only does Sofia like to be in front of the camera, but she likes to be behind it too. In 2019, Wylie formed the production company, AIFOS. Through the company, Wylie is set to adapt Jenny Torres Sanchez's novel, The Fall of Innocence, as its first project. With AIFOS, she hopes to put out strong female storylines and celebrate unique cultures and experiences.

7 Sofia Is A Huge Fan Of Zendaya

Imagine being a huge fan of someone and then actually meeting them. That happened to Wylie while she was on the set of K.C. Undercover. She once expressed in an interview that she grew up watching Disney Channel and Shake It Up, and Zendaya has always been her idol. Wylie was so star-struck when she saw The Greatest Showman that she couldn't talk for a long time. Talk about goals!

6 Wylie Has Appeared On Three Reality Competition Shows

Wylie started dancing at the age of 5, and since then, has not stopped. She trained at a dance studio before taking her love of dance to the next level. To start her professional career, she became a finalist on the show, Dance Moms twice. After that she appeared on So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation and even was a back-up dancer for an act on America's Got Talent.

5 She Was A Dancer On 'The Purpose World Tour'

Because of her amazing dance skills, Wylie got a chance to dance with Justin Bieber on his Purpose World Tour, during the song "Children." Now, she wasn't a full-time dancer with the tour, only getting the chance once in her hometown, Arizona, but she told InStyle Magazine that Bieber touched her shoulder, and she never wanted to wash her shirt again. The actress still has it hung up in her room.

4 Her Sister Has Also Appeared On TV

Sofia is not the only celebrity in the Wylie family. Her sister has also appeared on TV, but not in the way you think. Her sister, Bella, appeared on the Food Network's Chopped Junior and won the competition. Sofia and Bella are extremely close, and Sofia tries to spend most of her free time with her sister. It seems like talent and creativity run in the family.

3 Wylie Voiced A Character In The Franchise 'Marvel Rising'

She voices Riri Williams/Ironheart in Marvel Rising: Heart of Iron and Marvel Rising: Battle of the Bands and Spiderman: Maximum Venom. Along with the voiceover work, Wylie put out her first ever single, "Side By Side," which was used in Marvel Rising: Chasing Ghosts. Wylie has taken her singing talents to High School Musical and will hopefully continue to put music out in the future.

2 She Has An Educational Dance Program

Wylie made an appearance in the Internet Based 4k Dance Series. In 2019, she created her own educational dance series called Dancing With Sofia Wylie, which you could watch on IGTV. After the videos appeared on Instagram, viewers could watch them again on her Youtube channel. This program aimed to teach readers step by step dance moves and encouraged them to follow their dreams.

1 Her Acting Roles Have Landed Her Some Nominations

In 2019, Wylie was nominated for The Young Entertainer Awards twice- Best Young Ensemble in a TV Series, in which she won and scored a nomination for Best Leading Young Actress In a Television Series for the show Andi Mack. Then in 2021, Wylie received a nomination a the Kids Choice Awards for Favorite Female TV Star For HSMTMTS. These are only the first three nominations of what are sure to be many.
