32-year-old Hilary Erhard Duff is a well-known actress but most people seem to forget that she is also an accomplished singer and songwriter. Hilary began taking acting and singing classes when she was little. In the hope that her girls would land more TV gigs in California, Hilary’s mom decided to move her two daughters from their Houston home to California.

Hilary’s dad remained behind in Houston to take care of a family business. Hilary's first appearances on TV were in commercials. She landed her first major acting TV role in 2001. She starred as Lizzie McGuire in the American comedy show that went by the same name. Hilary released her first album shortly after she landed this acting gig.

Her mother had to homeschool her because of her fast-growing TV and music career. While still filming Lizzie McGuire, Hilary also released two other albums. Safe to say, Hilary went on to become a very successful musician while still pursuing acting. Here are some of the highlights of her music career.

14 Hilary Took Vocal Lessons

Hilary liked following everything her older sister Haylie did. Haylie took acting, ballet, and singing lessons, so Hilary also did the same. She did not pay much attention to her music talent until she attended a Radio Disney Concert in 2001. She made a point to continue with her vocal lessons after the concert.

13 She Performed A Soundtrack For Lizzie McGuire

Hilary debuted her singing career by performing a soundtrack for a show she was starring in. Lizzie McGuire premiered in 2001 and Hilary was the one who played the leading role and performed the soundtrack for the show, a cover version of Brooke McClymonts "I Can’t Wait". The song was a massive hit.

12 She Has Also Performed A Soundtrack For Disney

Lizzie McGuire was a very popular show and was the one that made Hilary a teen idol. Disney made around $100 million selling Lizzie McGuire branded merchandise such as dolls, books, toys, and video games. Owing to the success of her first soundtrack, Hilary was asked to do another cover for Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room.

11 The Singer Has Five Studio Albums
