Christine "Chrissy" Teigen is a model, cook, wife and mom extraordinaire. She's graced the covers of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Cosmopolitan and Maxim and modeled for brands including Olay, Rock & Republic, UGG, Nine West, Billabong, Ed Hardy, Nike and Gillette. Teigen published a cookbook titled Cravings, which became a New York Times bestseller. She married singer John Legend in 2013 and had a baby girl, Luna, in 2017.
Teigen is also brutally honest on her Twitter account. Thank goodness, because do we really need another mom tweeting her amazing Pinterest crafts and the witty quotes from her darling three-year-old? That answer is no. We need more moms like Teigen: hilarious, smart and someone who is willing to call out people who delete their tweets—she even includes screenshots as proof! Here are 15 Chrissy Teigen tweets that prove she is actually savage AF.
15 The time she called someone out for wagering on a possible divorce
I'll bet you 1,000 your mom yells at the Genius Bar https://t.co/jq34OAr0Jo— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) March 3, 2017
Who wouldn't go off on someone who publicly predicted your marriage wouldn't last long... especially when they couldn't research that your marriage had actually been in tact longer! A twitter user named AustinD (@AceDolan) tweeted his prediction that Teigen's marriage to John Legend wouldn't last more than five years. "So sick of seeing @johnlegend and @chrissyteigen all over twitter. They're like every other celebrity couple. I'll give them 5 years"
Teigen replied, "Well we've been together for 11 so what was the monetary wager there?"
Instead of backing down, AustinD opted to take his bet further, saying he was willing to bet 10 bucks that the duo wouldn't make it past 2020. Teigen decided to make her own public wager. "I'll bet you 1,000 your mom yells at the Genius Bar." Fans chimed in, saying they wanted to take up Teigen's bet and one laughed at the ten bucks comment. "This bro is a High roller!"
14 The time she called someone out on their private status
if you wanna give me unsolicited baby advice on the damn cereal I eat/what I wear u better unlock your profile so I can see your perfection— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 29, 2015
A pregnant Teigen took to Twitter in October 2017 to call out people who hid being locked Instagram profiles. It all started when she posted a picture of her cereal on her Instagram account with the caption, "Cap'n Pebbles cravings, nightly." Of course haters trolled immediately, criticizing her choice to eat dyed, sugary cereal while pregnant. She took her anger to Twitter and posted the above tweet.
Really, social media bullies can't hide behind their private accounts. It's not okay to attack someone and then be able to hide from the retaliation. And let's face it, pregnant women don't typically prefer unsolicited advice, especially on something as trivial as cereal. Teigen continued her ranting, tweeting a series of tweets: "yes I am living off dyed food. tuna too!! Gonna try to dye my tuna actually. Then have an icy, dyed vodka soda and that's just lunch. Then I'm gonna take the trapeze class I've been meaning to take. Then maybe do a 3 legged race then probably rent sumo suits and battle strangers. Then a nice cigar in the hot tub oh today will be a delight indeed."
13 The time she encouraged Donald Trump to leave
what time should we call your Uber?— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) February 4, 2017
Teigen hasn't been a fan of Donald Trump for years, and she certainly hasn't tried to hide that fact from anyone! In February 2017, Trump had tweeted from his account that we must keep "evil" out of our country. Teigen's brilliant response? “@realdonaldtrump what time should we call your Uber?”
With over 40,000 retweets and over 120,000 likes, we think many people in the country (or perhaps the world) share in this sentiment. Fans of Teigen chimed in with tweets like, "the ride is on me.. my treat. I'll even spring for a Suburban so his whole crew can roll..
#noDevos #holdthefloor" and "I think this reply is the best tweet in the history of twitter" and "Can we start a GoFundMe for *orange*'s Uber to Jupiter? Everyone in the world can give. No return trip, just let it float away." Sometimes Teigen's fans' tweets are just as savage as hers!
12 The time she told a follower how to handle the haters
A follower tweeted Teigen at the end of last year, asking her how to handle the haters. Instead of just writing a 140 character response, Teigen decided to do a little video message. She responded, "Write them back, so they delete their accounts. Happens every time like clockwork, baby."
We don't know that it happens every time, but we do think it can cause a hater to rethink their actions. Bullies tend to hide behind the physical distance and imaginary walls of their social media accounts. It's much easier to share hurtful words when you can't see how the victim responds. When someone calls a bully out (especially from a popular account like Teigen's) it draws unwanted attention to the bully, and sometimes fans will get on the offensive and attack. While two wrongs don't necessarily make a right, this unexpected retaliation can cause the bully to back down and consider deleting their account.
11 The time she got angry about the insults surrounding her IVF
Hi Linda, thanks for asking, you complete witch. I tried for about 9 years. Anything else, let me know! https://t.co/54e9AvIqQ9— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) January 30, 2017
Teigen has been very open about her struggle with pregnancy and that she and Legend turned to IVF when it became difficult to conceive. Teigen even told SELF Magazine about how the process ravaged her body. She had bruises on her stomach and gained weight. The paparazzi took pics of her on the beach and she says, "I looked horrible, totally not myself. Then to not be able to say what it was, it sucked." Once she opened up about the IVF, Teigen says she heard from a lot of people. "Some people who are close to us had done it, like, seven to ten times."
So, imagine Teigen's surprise when she tweeted that she and Legend were thinking of expanding their family and using the remaining embryo, a boy one. An attacker immediately jumped on and wrote to Teigen: did you give it a minute to try naturally or are you avoiding "the act?" At least no political rants!
Less than an hour later, Teigen fired back: Hi Linda, thanks for asking, you complete witch. I tried for about 9 years. Anything else, let me know!
Even more interesting? Linda's twitter handle for the response has now been changed. She probably got a lot of heat for her tweet to Teigen.
10 The time she retaliated to a troll
Back in October, 2016, after the vice presidential nominee debate, Teigen turned her account private. After a fan asked if her account was on private, she responded, "Yeah. Not strong enough anymore." Many people were sad to see her public commentary no longer public, but understood that she needed to keep to herself.
Luckily, it didn't last that long anyway. A month later, Teigen returned her Twitter account back to its public state. She was quick to show off her well-known wit when a user tweeted that it was "funny that Chrissy changed her Twitter setting to protected, typical, shoot her mouth off then run and hide"
Her response was killer, and showed that she took a little bit of time to look into the account of the hater. "Funny you got two horrific tattoos and still wear short sleeves" Fans were quick to side with Teigen and offer her their laughter, agreement and support.
9 The time she called out someone for complaining
never seen so much bitching on a timeline.— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) March 3, 2017
We get it. Not everyone is a fan. But do you really need to go attacking outlets that cover particular celebrities? One user decided to take his complaint of coverage of Teigen to Twitter. But, instead of keeping it classy, he said that Teigen disrobes for a living and bags on Donald Trump, like TIME itself does. Double whammy we guess.
Teigen didn't even bother to be witty in her response, she just replied to both the user and TIME, and said she had never seen so much bitching on a timeline.
And yet again, this Twitter account changed his handle, adding a 7 to the @TGi24 as a way to probably avoid getting hate, which he most certainly did because a lot of Tiegen fans jumped on board. Our favorite response is this one: "she disrobes? Do my eyes and mind deceive me? Didn't the current FLOTUS pose nude? Trump supporters...I swear"
8 The time she gave advice to parents
It's not my fault your kids are up at 11, give them some warm milk. RT @MIKE_and_IKE_ you should not be on this show my kids are watching— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) April 3, 2015
Teigen served as co-host for Lip Sync Battle, a reality competition television show that premiered on Spike on April 2, 2015. The show pitted celebrities against one another doing lip sync performances. It was the highest-rated premiere in Spike's history with 2.2 million viewers. Apparently, someone had an issue with it, because they messaged Teigen that night, "you should not be on this show my kids are watching."
Teigen retweeted their concerns and included some parenting concerns of her own. We love that she includes the "give them some warm milk." Right? Who does let their kids stay up until 11:00 and then has issues with the content they are watching. Thirty years ago, they would have only had access to a few channels, none of which would be kid friendly. Or they should set the parental controls to not allow their kid to watch Spike! But to blame Teigen? Random and wrong.
7 The time she told everyone to be happy
people are such hating asses these days. go fucking be happy, please.— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) March 10, 2016
Teigen must have had a bad week last March. She had no idea what was in store, but she did offer this advice to the haters: "People are such hating asses these days. go f*cking be happy, please. "
She followed up with another tweet, telling her followers to keep their personal issues to themselves and let others be happy. We wonder who said what, but ultimately it doesn't matter. Teigen is right. Sometimes, people need to get off social media and go live their lives. Be happy, and don't revel in the discomfort of others.
6 The time she stood up to people bullying her friend
Some shit just isn't funny. I see you trying, but it isn't.— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
Last October, it was announced that Kim Kardashian was held at gunpoint in her hotel room in Paris by men that were dressed as policemen. The prosecutor's office estimated that over ten million dollars worth of jewelry was taken. As you can imagine, outrage rang out across social media. But it wasn't all supporting Kardashian; some of it got ugly.
Teigen took to Twitter after she saw a bunch of people tweeting about the issue, posting the tweet above. She also tweeted that famous people are often not seen as human beings.
One follower asked whether she should feel sympathy for someone who owns over a million dollars of jewelry in the first place. Teigen said that nobody was asking for sympathy. "No one is begging you for sympathy. I know the game plan is to naturally hate celebrities. I'm not trying to be condescending. I really do get it. I would be the same way if I don't have the random opportunity to see both sides."
5 The time she live-tweeted the president's inauguration
what a beautiful prayer. makes me wanna grab my puss— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) January 20, 2017
As we said above, Teigen is not a Trump supporter. And that's putting it lightly. If you follow her feed, you know she has nothing but disrespect for the current POTUS. So of course, she took to Twitter to comment live during his inauguration.
There are several more that prove just how savage Teigen can be. She revealed she wanted to rally with the women's march scheduled for the day after inauguration. "I was going to go to sundance to support john tomorrow but feeling compelled to support my fellow women. see you at the women's march, DC." She also purposely misquoted Trump, "that i will faithfully execute...literally everyone who has ever wronged me." And then Teigen ended with a tweet that revealed her discomfort with the entire inauguration, "is anyone else absolutely sickened by what they are watching? i mean it's called MARIAH'S world not danielle's world."
4 The time she went off on Donald Trump... in 2011
donald trump sure turned into a joke right? as opposed to what he was before which was so not a joke or anything.— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) April 27, 2011
Teigen has been criticizing Donald Trump for years now, even going so far as to say she hates him. She told USA Today,"I’ve actually been a big Donald Trump hater for a long time. If you go back, I’ve been trolling him for about 5 to 7 years now. I’ve been doing this forever and I take pride in that."
She admits to tweeting about Trump and says that she can't believe he could still be president. "If you go back to my old ones [tweets] I was like: 'You’re the f*cking worst' many years ago. I can’t believe somebody could actually do this all day, every day, and still be president. It’s insane. I think he’s the f*cking most vile person on this planet and if I mysteriously go missing in the next 4 years then that’s what happened."
3 The time she got into it with Piers Morgan
my newborn just looked up at me and said "mommy, why is piers morgan so unequivocally douchy?" i didn't know what to say— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) June 6, 2016
Boxing legend Muhammad Ali passed away in 2016 and Piers Morgan hopped onto Twitter to say that Ali was more racist than Donald Trump. Teigen was quick to chime in.
It started out with Morgan posting a series of tweets. "Muhammad Ali said far more inflammatory/racist things about white people than Donald Trump ever has about Muslims. #fact. Why sugar-coat what Ali said or stood for? He never did that to himself, or when speaking to others. I hope people don’t make me sound too perfect when I die. No coats of sugar please."
After users began responding, Morgan continued with a follow-up. "Why would stating that Muhammad Ali made a lot of inflammatory, race-charged statements in his life be remotely controversial? He did. I’m sorry for ‘saying inflammatory things for attention.’ That’s the last thing Muhammad Ali would have condoned."
Legend jumped in and tweeted,"You could test us by announcing your retirement." and Teigen followed up with, "From what? Trolling isn’t a job (I’ve tried)."
Morgan responded, "Maybe I should take up a proper job, like modeling?" The two continued on in their verbal war, with Teigen finally ending it and posting the tweet above!
2 The time she called attention to Trump's scandals
"Ok so he is going to trial for child rape but she..." WHAT. THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE GONNA SAY AFTER THE WORD "SHE". REALLY THINK.— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) November 2, 2016
Teigen was not only vocal in her dislike of Donald Trump during the entire presidential campaign, she also was pretty outspoken in her support for Hillary Clinton. She tweeted the above in early November, calling out those who believed Trump's scandals were even on the same realm as Clinton's. Teigen wanted people to think about their comparisons and actually check themselves before posting some nonsense responses.
Good on her. It's not easy to be vocal in a crazy political landscape (and last year was a doozy!) Sure, people will rally behind you, retweet and share your views. But others will dislike you, unfollow you, bully you... you have to be able to take the good with the bad!
1 The time she defended her husband
Paparazzi at JFK just asked me "if we evolved from monkeys, why is John Legend still around?" - and people wonder why celebs lose it in pics— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) January 19, 2017
Teigen was justifiably upset after a paparazzi incident this past January, where one of the paparazzo asked a racist question about Legend, who was standing right there next to her.
Tegen says she was actually answering questions about her cookbook and the question came completely out of left field. She tweeted, "I was very kind. Answered cooking questions, then he came with that. f*cking disgusting."
It got even worse from there. Teigen wrote, "He also went from 'what's an easy recipe to make at home' to 'if a Jew were a vampire, would he still be afraid of crosses?'" So he went from racist to mocking a religion. Crazy.
We've loved following Teigen over the years, and will continue to do so because you can't help but like her fierce tweets.
