Twenty-five years ago, Steven Spielberg's massive blockbuster Jurassic Park hit theaters and made the entire world absolutely obsessed with dinosaurs. After watching that 1993 classic, we all wanted to ride a Brachiosaurus and to help a sick Triceratops. The Tyrannosaurus rex and Velociraptors still haunt our nightmares, but they were so cool that we just couldn't look away from them. The park was an undeniable disaster and the film could practically fall into the horror genre, but almost everyone who's seen the JP series can agree that they'd still go to a real-life dinosaur theme park in a heartbeat!

Despite the fact that special effects were nowhere near as impressive several decades ago as they are today, Jurassic Park and the other two films in the original trilogy still hold up brilliantly and are every bit as enjoyable now as they ever were. We didn't really think there was a need for the franchise to churn out new films, but we're so glad Universal disagreed—Jurassic World was amazing, and we're sure this month's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is going to be just as brilliant. Here are some hilarious Jurassic memes to get us ready for the action-packed, epic new installment!

15 Avengers trainer

We absolutely loved Chris Pratt in Parks & Recreation, but we would never have expected the guy who played lovable goofball Andy Dwyer to be able to pull off playing a hunky action star on the big screen. Luckily, Pratt showed off his real acting chops (and newly chiseled body) in Guardians of the Galaxy before starring in Jurassic World, so we knew we were in for a real treat when we discovered he'd be the lead in the latest Jurassic blockbuster...and we were absolutely right!

Pratt was utterly flawless as Owen, the dreamy and heroic Velociraptor trainer. The Internet seemed conflicted about whether everyone wanted to be him or be with him, but everyone agreed that memes based on the scene were he showed off his ability to tame the scariest dinosaurs of all time were absolutely hilarious. People all over the world mirrored that iconic scene with their pets and edited Owen into pictures of infamous fights and conflicts, and even Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. got in on the fun! He Photoshopped Pratt into a scene from Avengers, where Captain America, Iron Man and Thor were all butting heads. If Owen could calm down Blue and her raptor siblings, surely he could have helped calm down Earth's Mightiest Heroes!

14 Oh hey, John Hammond

via: me.me

Dr. John Hammond really did have the best intentions when he created Jurassic Park. The "jovial mad scientist" and multi-millionaire founder of InGen and the Hammond Foundation just wanted to create a theme park where families could see and experience the dinosaurs that suffered from extinction millions of years before we were all born. Sure, he hoped to make a bit of a profit in the process, but his heart was definitely in the right place and we could always tell that he really loved the creatures in the park. Unfortunately, his creation was a complete train-wreck.

After the chaos and destruction of Jurassic Park, Hammond recognized his failures and blocked all of InGen's attempts to create a new park, causing his company to become bankrupt and replace him with his fairly twisted nephew in the sequel. We didn't get to hear much about what happened to the good doctor after that, but this hilarious meme might offer some insight—Hammond now just rides around on public transit because the failure of his multi-million dollar park has left him defeated and penniless. Just look at his hat, white dress shirt and beige pants—that's totally Hammond in that picture, right?!

13 Run for your life

Don't get us wrong, we absolutely love our parents. Sure, we used to butt heads with them when we were in our early teens, but once you reach a certain age, you finally come to accept that your parents are actually normal people who have seen and experienced a lot of the same stuff as you have and just want what's best for you. At that point, you finally stop treating them like the enemy and start treating them more like friends. All that being said, however, there's still nothing more terrifying than your mom going up to you and saying "we need to talk."

We're always down to have a conversation with our moms, but when they tell us they have to talk to us about something, all we want to do is run!

Nothing good can come from those conversations, because they typically mean your mom found out something you didn't want her to find out or she's about to deliver some seriously bad news. That's why, whenever we hear those dreaded words, we treat our moms like they're carnivorous a blood-hungry Tyrannosaurus rex and run away like our lives depend on it! That may be slightly over-dramatic, but we're not willing to take any chances.

12 Not so odd anymore

We watched Jurassic Park dozens of times when we were kids, because it was (and still is, really) one of our absolute favorites. The characters were great, the dinosaurs were breathtaking and the action kept us on the edge of our seats throughout the entire film. Despite our undying love for one of Spielberg's greatest blockbusters, however, we can admit that it's maybe a bit too scary for its PG-13 rating. Kids in their early teens can be tough, but no one's tough enough to see that T-rex or those Velociraptors try to eat everyone in sight without getting freaked out! We're sure we weren't alone in losing a lot of sleep over those terrifying monsters, so maybe Universal should have used dinosaurs that were just a little tamer. Like the ones from the '90s TV show Dinosaurs, perhaps!

This meme takes the most iconic scenes from Jurassic Park and simply swaps Spielberg's creatures out for the Dinosaurs dinos. Suddenly, things are quite as scary! They're still prehistoric beasts so the replacement would totally work without having to change any dialogue or story, but now, kids could watch the film without hiding under their covers or having to sleep in their parents' beds afterward.

11 Raptors of the Galaxy

When Marvel first announced plans for a Guardians of the Galaxy fans, most comic book lovers were confused. The Guardians weren't particularly popular, and the idea of a talking tree and an alien raccoon existing in the same cinematic universe as Iron Man and Captain America just seemed too ridiculous. Once the film came out, our concerns vanished—it was one of Marvel's best ever and the characters just worked, for whatever reason.

We've spent several years loving the Guardians, but Avengers: Infinity War sort of went and ruined that.

Gamora basically put the whole universe at risk by telling Thanos where the Soul Stone was just to save her adoptive sister, Star-Lord snapped Thanos out of his Mantis-induced slumber when he selfishly tried getting revenge on the Mad Titan, and half the Guardians were wiped from existence when Thanos snapped his fingers at the end of the film. We can't help thinking that the galaxy would have been better off if Owen and his raptors were left in charge of protecting it! Those little monsters can do a lot of damage and would undoubtedly scare even Thanos. Sorry, Groot, but we're Team Blue all the way on this one!

10 Don't move

If you think man-eating dinosaurs are scary, you should try getting called on in a classroom filled with your judgmental peers when you don't know the answer to a teacher's question! We're not particularly big fans of public speaking, and we like public humiliation even less. That's why, any time our teacher starts to look around the room, we make a point to look down at our desk and pretend to be focusing really hard on our notes.

We're old enough to know that the childish belief of "if I can't see you, you can't see me" is far from accurate, but we still avoid eye contact at all costs. Maybe, just maybe, the teacher will be like a T-rex and be unable to see us if we don't make any sounds or sudden movements! This strategy, of course, never actually works—we always get called on when we don't know the answer, and never get called on when we actually do. But that doesn't mean we're going to stop trying this trick any time soon! If it was good enough to save lives in Jurassic Park, it has to be good enough to save us at school eventually...right?

9 Good job, Phil

We've heard a lot of cliche quotes about the importance of failure over the years. We know that Confucius said that "our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail." Teachers frequently remind us of Winston Churchill's quote about how "success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm." We've all heard that "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again," but no quote will ever make us feel better when we try and utterly fail at something we really care about and put a lot of effort into. The only thing that's ever going to be able to cheer us up in those tragic moments is this meme.

No matter how badly we fail at something in life, we can rest easy knowing that we'll never fail as badly as Phil Tippett.

Phil was tasked with being the "Dinosaur Supervisor" of Jurassic Park. The fact that he actually got paid for this job and earned a credit at the end of the film for it is absolutely astounding because Phil was horrible at his job! Did you not see the dinosaurs in that movie? They were all out of control, either getting sick or disappearing or tearing things apart or eating the park's guests and employees! Phil was supposed to supervise those creatures, but when things started going wrong, he was nowhere in sight. What a joke.

8 Our true hero

via: reddit.com

After watching Jurassic World, most people would instantly name Owen if you asked who the hero of film was. A few would add Bryce Dallas Howard's character, Claire, because she worked hard to protect her nephews and the people of the park after the Indominus Rex got loose, and a few more would also point out that Blue and the OG T-rex from the Jurassic Park trilogy did their share of heroics, too. But all of those people would be wrong.

There was only one person in Jurassic World who stayed absolutely calm in the face of extreme danger and put his life on the line to save what mattered to him most, and he was barely even in the movie. Yes, we are of course talking about the guy who ran around the park with his two margaritas as dozens of dinosaurs flew around attacking his fellow tourists. He could have just left his drinks on a table and focused on getting himself to safety, but he refused to do something so cowardly. He paid good money for those delicious beverages, so no amount of danger could keep him from enjoying them! We'll never stop standing up and applauding him for his bravery whenever we re-watch that scene.

7 This is too accurate

There's nothing more frustrating than having all of your friends think that your mom is the sweetest parent ever when she's actually a complete nightmare the moment the two of you are alone. Sure, you like that your friends like your family and feel comfortable enough to frequently go over to your house, but you just wish they could see your mom for who she truly is behind closed doors sometimes.

When people come over, your mom acts as innocent and adorable as Rex from Toy Story. But when it's just your family, she's suddenly the T-rex from Jurassic Park!

Your friends can't believe your stories about your mom forcing you to do homework the second you get home from school or grounding you for staying up too late, because all they ever see is that cute Rex side. She's the same way when she has her friends over—none of her house guests would ever suspect how scary she can be when the two of you are at home alone! You'd set up hidden cameras to show the world the truth, but honestly, the footage would probably be too frightening. Maybe you'll finally do it if Universal asks you to give them some clips for the follow-up to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

6 She's still got it

Even though we'll probably always be completely terrified of the carnivorous dinosaurs of the Jurassic Park films, we can't really blame them for trying to eat all the people they came across. Dinosaurs are above us on the food chain, so it's technically just as natural for them to prey on us as it is for us to prey on cows and chickens, right? That's why, even though the massive and scary T-rex of the 1993 blockbuster was technically the primary antagonist of that film, we still have a lot of love for it. And that's why, when it showed up again in Jurassic World, we actually found ourselves cheering it on!

Claire released it from its cage to help take down the Indominus Rex, without knowing for sure if it'd side with the man-made genetic abomination or help the humans destroy it. Luckily, the Tyrannosaurus wasn't a big fan of the Indominus and fought against it alongside Blue and her homo sapien allies. It'd been twenty-two years since that T-rex was loose on the island so we weren't sure how she'd fare in that fight at first, but we were happy to see that she was every bit as formidable as ever! She totally saved the day, and we're hoping she makes a repeat appearance in Fallen Kingdom.

5 This meme contains spoilers

via: me.me

If you don't want spoilers for this month's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, we really hope you didn't make the mistake of looking at this behind-the-scenes image from the highly-anticipated film. In it, we can see two dinosaurs having some sort of conflict, right in the middle of a New York City street! We would never have expected InGen or any other company to try to bring dinosaurs into a city after the disaster in San Diego in Jurassic Park: The Lost World, but it seems history will repeat itself in the franchise's latest installment.

Okay, we're totally just messing with you...this is just a hilarious meme, not a spoiler for the new film! Though we hope you could have figured that out yourself. Here, someone in a Barney costume seems to be freaking out over the fact that his friend in a T-rex costume has fallen down in a city intersection. The picture is tragically comedic, but the caption has us laughing so hard that we're falling out of our seats—"Jurassic World 2 looks amazing." Special effects are expensive so we could understand Universal dialing them down a little, but we probably wouldn't watch Fallen Kingdom if the dinosaurs were just people in costumes.

4 Better than the Hulk

Alright, last Marvel-Jurassic Park crossover joke, we promise! Remember when Loki went right into Tony Stark's NYC apartment to threaten the Iron Avenger with his plans to take over the city (and then the world) alongside his Chitauri army in Avengers? The God of Mischief was all smug until Tony reminded him that he had the Hulk on his side, and while Loki didn't take him completely seriously at that moment, the smackdown Hulk laid on Loki a few scenes later definitely taught the trickster not to underestimate Bruce Banner.

But we bet if Owen showed up to offer Blue's assistance against Loki and the Chitauri during that scene, Loki would have called off the battle before it even started!

Loki wanted to take over Earth, but he's always been really cowardly and self-serving. If he was face-to-face with a trained Velociraptor, chances are, he wouldn't have even tried to risk confrontation. It wouldn't have mattered that he was armed with an Infinity Stone and had countless alien soldiers ready to fight for him...no one wants to throw down with Blue. He's basically the scariest and most loyal monster ever, and we'd take his side in a fight no matter how seemingly immortal or powerful the opponent!

3 Owen's origin story

via: me.me

Even though Chris Pratt's character was one of the main protagonists of Jurassic World, we still don't really know much about Owen. We saw that he somehow managed to train a bunch of Velociraptors, but we don't know how he grew to not pee himself over how scary those dinosaurs are or how he was able to get their trust and basically domesticate them. Fallen Kingdom will hopefully offer us more insight into Owen's mysterious origin story, but until then, fans have some theories of their own.

A bunch of hardcore Jurassic Park lovers suspect that he was actually a part of the franchise from the very first film! In the beginning of the 1993 classic, Dr. Alan Grant talked with a bratty young boy about Velociraptors. The preteen tried to act like he wasn't afraid of the dinosaurs and even said that they didn't look like anything more than six-foot turkeys, but Dr. Grant quickly informed him that raptors would rip him apart. The young boy was very visibly frightened after hearing all that, but maybe Alan Grant's story made him interested enough in the monsters to pursue a career in training them! Owen can be just as foolishly brave and slightly obnoxious as that kid was, so we wouldn't be surprised at all to discover that they're the same character.

2 Love finds a way

When InGen first founded Jurassic Park, the doctors who helped make the dinosaurs assumed that by controlling the chromosomes of their creations, they'd be able to ensure all of their dinosaurs would be female and thus couldn't breed with each other. Dr. Ian Malcolm pointed out to John Hammond that "if there is one thing the history of evolution has taught us it's that life will not be contained," and warned him that the level of control he was attempting wasn't possible. "Life always finds a way," he concluded, a quote which also acted as a tagline for the classic film.

Well, this fan-made poster for Jurassic World takes that idea and gives it a fun and unexpected twist!

For whatever reason, Universal decided to use this image of Claire face-to-face with the Indominus Rex, separated by nothing but a thin glass wall. It's surely meant to be frightening, since she's so close to the horrifying monster...but for whatever reason, it looks really, awkwardly romantic. It's no wonder the Internet took that idea and ran with it! She's a human, Indominus is a dinosaur, but "love finds a way." We're glad the film hooked Claire up with Owen instead, because this would have been a really uncomfortable relationship.

1 Raptors vs. Walruses

We have absolutely no idea how Owen managed to tame a bunch of violent, dangerous and utterly horrifying Velociraptors. Raptors were the scariest part of all the old Jurassic Park movies, and we never in a million years would have guessed they'd become loyal and obedient heroes in the franchise! When Owen jumped in front of them to protect one of his co-workers in Jurassic World, we figured he was done for and that Chris Pratt's time in the JP world was going to be very short-lived. But he just outstretched his arms, told Blue and her siblings to stay calm and back off and the raptors did exactly as he asked.

Fans universally dropped their jaws during this shocking scene, and zookeepers around the world found it to be incredibly inspirational. They instantly went to work and recreated the scene with the animals they had trained, and while none of the results were as impressive as standing before some man-eating raptors, the images they posted were every bit as awesome. We especially love this picture of a zookeeper trying to hold back some adorable and totally harmless walruses as if they had the potential to attack him. Too cute!
