Anyone who’s rich and famous needs a lawyer on their side. No matter what they do, there’s going to be legal challenges that require a lawyer’s counsel and services who’s going to fight for them. Even America’s most popular family, the Kardashians, needs a legal team. While it’s technically in their blood—Kim, Khloè and Kourtney’s dad, Robert Kardashian, was a lawyer on the O.J. Simpson trial, after all —it’s best letting someone outside the family handle any legal matters.

Although it bears mentioning that on Kim’s Snapchat, her attorney Mike Kump did say that she has what it takes to be a lawyer. She was even asked to be a part of his law firm—though the video appeared more tongue-in-cheek than a serious request, so we’re taking it with a grain of salt. But as is usually the case with the Kardashians, anything is possible.

With all the legal disputes they’ve had over the years, the Kardashians wouldn’t have made it without lawyers. The lawyers must love the Kardashian family and how much money they bring in when one considers all the lawsuits and divorces. We went ahead and put together a list of some of the most notorious instances where a lawyer was needed to bail the Kardashians out.

15 Khloe and Lamar call it quits

It sure was a ride while it lasted. The marriage of Khloè and Lamar certainly had its rough patches, but it took an expert team of lawyers to finally seal the deal when they got divorced officially back in 2016. Though Khloè and Lamar are old news, especially now that she’s in a serious relationship with Tristan Thompson (another NBA star), we still look at this as a milestone relationship in Khloè's life.

Technically, Khloè had originally filed for divorce back in 2013, though it never became official since they were working on making it work. Plus, Odom went through a rough time after he blacked out in a Nevada brothel, People Magazine reports. Thankfully, both were able to agree to the prenup they signed back in 2009, which supports the necessity of agreements that go into high profile relationships.

14 Kendall fights back, wins big

Via: Style Caster

Don’t mess with the Kardashians. When it comes to this next generation of Kardashians rising up, they’re making the family proud–weeding out other profiteers trying to capitalize off their fame and taking the money for themselves. According to TMZ, the company Cutera—which offers Laser acne treatment—used advertisements promoting Kendall Jenner. But it looks like Cutera never got permission from her to use her endorsement. Whoops!

The crazy thing is—and we have to give the lawyers credit for this one—what she got out of the lawsuit. Usually she’d get millions to endorse a product, so that’s exactly what the lawyers drafted up for Cutera to pay her–in the amount of an endorsement totaling $10 million! We’ll just give credit where credit is due–to the Kardashian lawyers.

13 Kris and Robert call it quits

Via: Page Six

Married in 1978, Kris was with Robert Kardashian for about 12 years. Kris, however, was alleged to have had an affair. In fact, the Los Angeles court even granted Kris temporary custody of the kids out of fear that Robert might do something rash. Radar Online reported he was really upset about Kris’s infidelity, after all.

But Kris lawyered up and went after Robert for some expensive debts he had after shopping sprees. Looks like we know where Kim and the rest got their addictions to shopping. It certainly was a disastrous divorce that required lawyers to be hands on through every step of the process.

But as the saying goes, “Time heals all wounds.” Kris has admitted to having only one regret: divorcing Robert Kardashian. We guess even after going through a saga like their divorce, true love still endures.

12 Kourtney, Scott—and their kids in the middle

When Kourtney was in trouble fighting for sole custody of her three kids with Scott Disick, she called on the “disso queen” Laura Wasser. Wasser, considered one of Hollywood’s top divorce attorneys who’s bailed out other celebs like Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp, is the attorney to have on your side should the going get rough.

For Kourtney, it became a matter of protecting her three kids–Mason, Penelope and Reign–outside of danger as Scott was believed to be on a wild drinking spree, Us Magazine reports. What could make a case like this challenging for Wasser was the fact that Kourtney and Scott don’t have a formal agreement written up about custody of their kids.

Having helped settle the divorce between Khloè and Lamar, Wasser seems to be the perfect fit for helping Kourtney in her quest.

11 Cosmetics snafu

Via: Hollywood Life

Kim, Kourtney and Khloè are the epitomes of beauty, right? So it makes sense that they’d get into the makeup business. After all, once fans have access to the same beauty product they love and sponsor, it’s a guaranteed gold mine. But when the three Kardashian sisters launched their beauty line—simply called Khroma—they encountered some trouble.

It looks like their name was too similar to Kroma Beauty, another makeup brand which has been around since 2004. As a result, it was off to the courts for the Kardashians vs. Kroma Beauty over how close the two cosmetic lines sounded. Ultimately, the case was settled, but you can bet there was a lot of money involved and lawyers needed to handle this ordeal.

10 Kim and Kris end their 72-day marriage

Many may have already forgotten about Kim’s second marriage, which was to NBA player Kris Humphries. Married back in August 2011, the couple made it only 72 days before Kim filed for divorce. As one could imagine, the couple didn’t end on good terms. Kris claimed that the televised wedding was a sham and wished to annul the marriage.

Kim, though, wanted a divorce—and as expected, the Kardashian princess got her way. In retrospect, Kim says she was 30 years old and afraid of getting older without someone to share life with, according to the Huffington Post. While it’s probably easy for Kim to look back on the whole thing like it wasn’t a big deal, the divorce at the time was drawn out with litigation and became a lengthy process.

9 Lip fiasco

If there’s one thing Kylie Jenner is famous for, it’s her enormous lips. Well, according to Vlada Haggerty, the famous dripping lip marketing that Kylie so famously smothers over her social media was stolen, per TMZ.

This is where Kylie had to get her lawyers involved to quickly address Haggerty’s legal action. In turn, Kylie—or really, we should just say her lawyers—swooped in to clean up the mess before things got out of hand.

Their solution? Instead of paying Vlada Haggerty like a traditional settlement, she decided to promote her brand instead. If you check Instagram, you can see Kylie’s marketing of the #vladamua line, which you can bet all her fans are going to check out. At least Kylie had the dignity to do an about face and start endorsing the line.

8 Kim’s heart of gold

While you might think the Kardashians are only interested in using lawyers to help themselves, you’re only mostly correct. Kim proved that although she’s golden on the outside, she’s also got a heart of gold. Recently, Cyntoia Brown and Alice Johnson are two inmates who have gotten attention online for what many believe are unjust convictions.

Although Johnson was convicted for nonviolent crimes that happened 20 years ago, she’s sentenced for life. In the case of Brown, she’s been in prison for 10 years for ending the life of a man she was hired by for illegal acts when she was only 16 years old.

That’s where Kim Kardashian swooped in with her expert lawyer team to fight for justice on behalf of Brown and Johnson. We just hope she’s doing it for the right reasons (and not just the publicity).

7 Promotional flop

Via: Epoch Times

Just because the Kardashians are popular doesn’t mean they’re on everyone’s good sides. Back in 2016, Hillair Capital Management LLC decided to take action on the Kardashian sisters, believing they weren’t carrying through on their agreement.

According to Hillair, Kim, Khloè and Kourtney weren’t doing enough to further the makeup brand after Boldface—the distributor—put up $10 million in the Kardashian Beauty Line.

But the Kardashians saw right through the lawsuit, calling Hillair’s action “frivolous.” Ouch! Wisely, the Kardashian lawyers made it look like Boldface was trying to point the finger on their recent dips in profits. Boldface, on the other hand, thought the Kardashians were doing less since they wanted a better deal. In the end, the lawyers made it look like they were trying to unfairly shift blame on the Kardashians, per Us Magazine.

6 Unconfirmed divorce talks

Via: Billboard

This one is a little bit of a cheat—as it’s technically a rumor—but talk is going around that Kim is considering a divorce from Kanye, per Gossip Cop. While nothing has been officially confirmed, it’s not totally outrageous that she hasn’t met with a lawyer at some point. While some outlets spun the rumor mill with reports of a $300 million divorce, we don’t have a clue how much a divorce like theirs could cost.

What we do suspect, however, is Kim might know that number and has certainly consulted with trusted attorneys to weigh her options. Although Kardashian’s PR team has denied any rumors about a divorce, claiming it’s “false,” we know Kim is around lawyers all the time. Couldn’t she drop the question here or there about what a divorce from Kanye would look like from a practical standpoint?

5 Accused of copying mobile app ideas

Via: Daily Beast

“Momager” Kris Jenner is the business-savvy matriarch of the Kardashian family. Accused of doing some pretty questionable and shady stuff over the years, we can at least remove stealing off the list. Or can we?

According to JD Journal, back in 2015, the company Just Games Interactive took legal action against Kris claiming that she took ideas from a pitch they proposed in 2014, ultimately using it for the popular “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood” game.

Kim’s mobile game ultimately went on to make $200 million, which is pretty insane. Kris huddled up with her lawyer team and they argued that Just Games, the company that originally proposed the idea, was just sore about losing the job when the Kardashians went instead with Glu Mobile to make the game. Whatever the case may be, it’s another day the lawyers saved the Kardashians.

4 Rob Kardashian goes to Chyna

Via: Detroit News

Here we go. The fallout from Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna’s relationship has been messy. You can bet there’s been lawyers throughout the entire process, too. In the wake of their split, Rob has had to face the facts with some custody payments he owes Chyna and the lawyers certainly handled that mess.

Complicating matters further, People Magazine reports Chyna has leveled a lawsuit against the Kardashians, saying they’re to blame for keeping her show “Rob & Chyna” from moving forward.

The Kardashians, however, claim that after she got a restraining order against Rob, that was actually what put an end to it, per People. The lawsuit comes as a result of Chyna’s claims that Rob abused her—claims of course he denies. Chyna’s attorney on the case is Lisa Bloom, whom you can imagine has her hands full.

3 Kris and Bruce call it quits

Via: Hosbeg

When Kris and Bruce Jenner both filed for divorce, it was the end of an era. Although they were already split for some time, the official divorce brought in the gurus to sort out all the legal matters. Ultimately, they divvied up a whopping $225 million between them.

Things weren’t all smooth during the process, however. Initially, there were some differences regarding the daughters’ business dealings, Jackson White Law reports. Bruce ultimately got $2 million out of it, though he did sign an agreement that he would not be entitled to any money related to their future endorsements.

It sure sounds cold, but Kris does all the work managing the kids after all so it’s only fair. Beyond that. there were mansions to split, expensive cars (including a Rolls Royce) and other possessions the two had shared over the course of their wedded bliss.

2 Cosmetics snafu… take two

Well, even when the Kardashians settle a lawsuit, there’s still more coming out of the woodwork looking for their piece. While the Kardashians took care of settling with Kroma Beauty—the line who claimed the trio of sisters’ makeup called Khroma was too similar—it was their European counterpart they had to deal with next.

Apparently, the Euro branch thought they had a right to some of that settlement as well. You can bet the lawyers scrambled to get involved in this one again, only this time, the judge ruled in the Kardashian’s favor.

Per Teen Vogue, it was decided that the Kardashians had already paid enough to Kroma Beauty, thus coming as a relief to the Kardashian krew. It just goes to show that when someone is rich and famous, others will do anything they can to cash in on their success.

1 Khloè's bodysuits?

Things are blowing up in Khloè's life, and we’re not just talking about her pregnancy. In recent months, Khloè's Good American clothing label was accused over Twitter of copying a style of bodysuits by designer Destiney Bleu, who has provided clothing to major stars like Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. Good American’s Twitter account lashed back suggesting that the bodysuits were inspired by former stars who’ve worn it in the past, such as Cher.

As expected, things got nasty on Twitter, forcing Good American to release a statement saying they didn’t copy the bodysuits from Destiney Bleu, but that they would go through “the proper legal channels to handle the situation,” according to People Magazine. Sounds like the Kardashian lawyers are going to have a fun time figuring this one out.
