Disney has created stories that so many of us have fallen in love with. We can watch them over and over again and never get sick of them. And as with most popular works of modern day tales, they inspire people to create other forms of artistry that pay tribute to the original idea. This can be something as extravagant as developing fanfiction or taking the time to paint and draw images of your own. And for others, they express their love of this magical corporation by dressing up like the characters they adore. Cosplay is a wonderful way to embody your favorite character, and the gentlemen on this list have done so with fairy-tale like precision. It’s like you’re looking at a real life version of what you see on screen.

15 Be A Man

Mulan was such an important Disney film because it was among the first ones to show that women didn’t need a man to be great. It’s great all around, but one of the best parts is towards the end when Chien-Po, Yao, and Ling have to get dressed up as concubines. These men aren’t very attractive to begin with, and they’re even more unattractive as women, but it was something that they had to do if they wanted to help defeat Shan Yu and the Huns. This part was hilarious in the movie, and it’s just as funny in real life. These three gentlemen realized that they had the same build as the soldiers, so they decided that they were going to use that to their advantage.

14 In The Gardens Of Memory, In The Palace Of Dreams…

Johnny Depp has depicted many eccentric characters throughout his career, and a couple of them have even been for Disney. We all remember him as the mischievous Captain Jack Sparrow, but in more recent years he has appeared on screen as the Mad Hatter. In the live-action remake of Alice in Wonderland, the makeup artists and costume designers were able to bring the character to life in a creepy, yet oddly satisfying way. This look probably took the team hours to reproduce every day, which is why it’s impressive that a cosplayer attempted to do it. What makes it even more remarkable is that he was able to replicate it as well as he did. He’s definitely giving the original version a run for his money.

13 I Want To Be Where The People Are

Richard Arthur is a male cosplayer from California, and although he’s a man, he has been able to beautifully capture the looks of multiple Disney Princesses. He’s done Cinderella, Belle, and Snow White, just to name a few. Heck, he looks better than half the Ariels I’ve seen out there (and I’ve seen a lot). All you wonderful women who want to dress up as the little mermaid had better step your game up because he’s killing it right now. He’s even able to get the big doe-eyed look down that the leading ladies have become famous for. When you watch the films and see their eyes, you think about how cute and innocent they look, but you also think that no one could ever look like that in real life. And that’s probably the case, unless you’re this guy.

12 This Royal Couple

It’s always cute to see couples dressing up as Disney characters. I’m still waiting to find the Naveen to my Tiana! And that’s because seeing real life versions of a prince and his princess together makes you feel like you’re actually in the movie. It allows you to enjoy the Disney magic even more than if you had only seen either one of them by themselves. This particular couple is doubly special because they didn’t let the fact that there hasn’t been a gay prince stop them from showing off their love for each other and the movies they adore. Prince Charming and the Prince may be from two different films, but this pair makes it seem like the princes could really be perfect for each other.

Up was the first Disney movie that we ugly cried at since The Lion King. Carl and Ellie’s love has got to be one of Disney’s sweetest ones. When it comes to their musicals, the characters usually fall for their prince or princess in a couple of days, but in this Pixar film, love was depicted as a realistic relationship that grows and changes over the years. It’s something that a lot of us hope for, so when Ellie died we all felt it.

When the old man tries to fulfill his promise to his late wife, Carl, a wilderness explorer, gets wrapped up in it. And while the two don’t start off with the best relationship, by the end of the flick they have a solid friendship, and these two guys brought this bond to life with their cosplay.

10 Bless My Soul

Johnathan Stryker is a cosplayer that decided to dress up like one of Disney’s princes for each day of the week from August 27, 2017 until September 5th. (They were so good that I couldn’t help but include a few of them on this list, so stay tuned for some of the others!) It’s fairly impressive that he was able to dress up like seven completely different men and still manage to look like each of them. I guess that means that he might be part Disney prince. For this cosplay specifically, it definitely helps that he has a little muscle of his own. Hercules is riddled with muscles, so he wouldn’t be as convincing as the young god if he wasn’t kind of ripped. And then as far as the rest of the outfit is concerned, he nailed it! When he created Hercules’ costume, he was able to get it down to the tiniest of detail. I mean look at the medallion on his belt. It’s practically identical to the cartoon character’s!

9 Thick As Thieves

It’s always fun when someone decides to do a crossover. Aladdin and Eugene may not be from the same movie, but something tells me that they would be friends if they ever ended up in the same world. I mean, their stories are pretty similar. They both started off as thieves and liars, but then they each fell in love with a girl who made them want to change their unscrupulous ways. Then, they both married her and ended up becoming a prince. They may not be the only commoners who ended up marrying into royalty, but they are the only ones who started out with a life of crime, and that’s definitely a strong enough bond to start a bromance over. And these two cosplayers are able to show that off.

8 Cheeeehoooo!

Moana is Disney’s most recent musical, and man did it wow audiences around the world. It was a big hit, which means that people who loved it decided to show their appreciation of the film in the usual ways: they bought tons of merchandise. And anyone who likes to cosplay was given a whole new host of characters to dress up as. This man chose the demigod as his inspiration, and he did a pretty great job with it. He’s wearing a bodysuit that’s covered in tattoos just like the character in the film, and he even brought along the hook, which helps to make him look even more like the character. If you listen closely, you can even hear him yelling, “Cheeeehoooo” through your computer screen.

7 Tale As Old As Time

What I love most about this picture is that the guy chose to portray Adam in a different way. Normally when you see men cosplaying as him, they either dress up as the beast version of him or they put on the outfit that he had on at the very end of the movie. This man decided to do something different and go for the look that the prince had in the photograph at the beginning of the film. He may not be looking straight forward like he was in the movie, but he does have that same knowing expression that he wore in the painting. I definitely appreciate this man’s outside-of-the-box thinking. It’s always refreshing to get another take on someone‘s view on how a character should be depicted in the real world.

6 Oh I Just Can’t Wait To Be King

Jonathan Stryker also decided to cosplay as the King of the Jungle during his week of portraying Disney Princes. This was probably particularly challenging since the character isn’t human. With the other looks that he chose, the blueprint was right in front of him. He just had to copy what he saw on the screen, but this time, since he’s a man and the cartoon isn’t, he had to get a little bit creative. First off, he had to imagine what Simba would look like if he were going to be reimagined on a human body. And then once he figured that out, he had to make it a reality. This man may not be a real jungle cat, but this look gets him pretty close.

5 Getting A Little Brave

Another one of Richard Arthur’s looks happens to be Merida from Brave. And once again, he totally crushed this look. If you’ve ever been to Disneyland and have seen one of the cast members dress up as this princess, you know that this man could just as easily take any one of these women’s place. In fact, if he ever needed a job, I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney would step up to give him one. And the best part about them doing that would be that they wouldn’t even have to worry about finding someone who could do his makeup. They could just tell him who they needed him to portray for the day and he would come in ready to be whatever princess they needed him to be.

4 Paperman

Via: Pinterest

I love Disney’s full length features, and it’s clear that people enjoy paying homage to the characters portrayed in these films through their cosplay, but their shorts have cosplay potential too.

Paperman is a cute little six minute animation that followed one man’s determination to get a girl that he just met to notice him, and he tries to do this by throwing paper airplanes at her office window. Ultimately, he is unable to get her attention while she’s at work. In fact, the only thing he’s responsible for in that time period is littering the ground with all of his aircrafts. But just as it seems like all hope is lost, he walks outside and all of the planes that he made encircle him and bring him to the woman he’s been vying after. That’s exactly what this man was able to depict here with in this costume.

3 Captain Guyliner

Anyone who’s a fan of Once Upon a Time will definitely appreciate this. This show takes all of the stories that we grew up with and adds a little bit of a twist to it. In Peter Pan, Captain Hook was the villain, but on Once Upon a Time, he’s a character that we can’t help but love. He may not have started out as a good guy on the show, but he has always been eye candy, which is why this cosplay is so amazing. This gentleman looks eerily similar to Colin O’Donoghue on OUAT. This may be the last season of the show, but if anything happened to the actor that plays the pirate then Disney could rest easy knowing that they could just find this man to finish off the remaining episodes.

2 Me, Tarzan

Via: Instagram; @strykerkun

This is the final entry by Jonathan Stryker on this list. Other men have definitely dressed up as Tarzan before, but there’s just something about this photo. It probably has something to do with the pose. When we’re first introduced to the man who was raised by apes, he doesn’t have very many human-like qualities. Clearly he is one, but he definitely hasn’t gotten down some of the actions that make us more civilized, like talking, for example. And this stance is able to capture that animalistic nature. He has the hair down and the loincloth, so as far as the costume is concerned, he was able to portray him accurately in that regard. It’s definitely a simple look, but sometimes a little bit goes a long way.

1 Oh, I Know This One

Via: Deviant Art

Because most Disney Princes are animated, we might wonder what they would look like if they ever stepped foot into our world. Enchanted was able to put those questions to rest, at least for one prince. Edward started out as animation, but then when Giselle gets banished to New York City, he has to follow her in order to save her, but when he popped out of his universe and in to ours, he was in for a rude awakening. He was no longer a cartoon. Instead, he looked like James Marsden. And even though he was in this new place, he still acted like he was back in one of Disney’s cartoons, complete with singing. Even though I can’t tell if this cosplayer is getting ready to break into song, it sure does look like it from his pose. He has the NYC Edward’s mannerisms down pat.
