15 Must-Know Things About Khloe Kardashian's Baby Daddy, Tristan Thompson

In recent months, every time I see a photo of Khloé Kardashian, I think "wow, she's glowing," and I think her boyfriend, Tristan Thompson, has a large part to play in that.

Kardashian seems happier than ever, and that's not surprising, because ever since Thompson came into her life she has a lot to smile about. It seems like he treats her like a princess, and he seems to be one of the nicest guys in the world. Now, even more good things have happened because the couple are reportedly expecting their first child together (Khloé's first, Thompson's second). It's a very exciting time in their lives, and there is a lot of interest in Thompson at the moment because he is going to be the baby daddy of one of the most famous people on television. But let me just say, there's so much more to him than his relationship with Kardashian, and below are 15 must-know things. Trust me, everyone is going to love him almost as much as his girlfriend does.

15 He's Really Picky About Food

When it comes to food, Tristan Thompson is a bit of a picky eater, and there are certain dishes that he will avoid at all costs — especially if it contains seafood.

Thompson is no fan of things that come out of the sea, and this is a habit that he apparently got from his mom. She too refuses to eat fish because she claims that they eat their own poop. According to ESPN, his mother, Andrea Brooks, previously said, "I don't like fish. Because the fish eat their poos. I don't eat that stuff. Fish eat their own poo. So, I'm not eating fish." Um, gross?!

So yeah, if you're ever fortunate enough to have Thompson over for dinner and you want him to be a happy guest, it's most probably best if you don't cook fish!

14 He's Proudly Canadian

Tristan Thompson is Canadian! He was born on March 13, 1991 in Toronto, where he lived until high school, before deciding to transfer to Saint Benedict's Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey. According to InTouch, following his time at Saint Benedict's he went on to attend Findlay Prep in Nevada, and this is where he perfected his basketball skills.

And despite attending high school in the United States, Thompson appears to be proud of his roots. In 2016, he competed with the Canadian Olympic team, and he was very happy to share a photo of himself in his uniform on Instagram.

You may have also noticed that Thompson wears the number 13, and this is because it's the day that he was born, and he therefore views it as lucky.

13 His Parents Are Jamaican

Tristan Thompson may be Canadian, but he is a first generation because his parents, Trevor Thompson and Andrea Brooks, are from Jamaica. He even took Khloé Kardashian on holiday there with him.

Thompson is the eldest child of four boys (good on his parents for coping with so many boys in one household) and is brother to Dishawn, Daniel, and Amari, and he seems incredibly close to his family. In fact, one of the most adorable things about Thompson is how much he loves his family, in particular his mama, who makes regular appearances on his Instagram account. And while Thompson often posts photos of himself and his mom, this tribute to her on Mother's Day, in which he thanks her for her "hard work and sacrifices," has to be one of the sweetest posts I've seen in a long time.

12 He Cares About Others

As I mentioned, Tristan Thompson has three younger brothers, and the youngest of all the boys, Amari, suffers from epilepsy. Thompson has partnered with Epilepsy Toronto and has even created a fund in his brother's name in the hopes of helping others who have a family member suffering from epilepsy.

Helping others and spreading awareness about the neurological disorder is something that is close to Thompson's heart, and he has previously spoken out about it. According to ESPN, he said, "It's definitely changed our family, but at the same time, I think it's just a blessing to be able to understand what he's going through. Other families are going through it, too, and it's a way for us to meet other people that are going through it and hear their stories and kind of just learn and grow a bigger family outside of our household."

11 He's A Professional Basketball Player

Can't wait to be back at the Q !!!! #CavsNation 😈

Perhaps the most well-known thing about Tristan Thompson is that he is a basketball player and plays for the National Basketball Association team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Thompson made his debut with the team in 2011, and he's a pretty big deal in the sporting world because he's been playing professional basketball for seven seasons. Since he's only 26 years old, there's still a lot of good sporting years left in him.

According to AOL, when the Canadian athlete joined the team, he was the highest drafted Canadian-born basketball player in history, which is an incredible achievement, and one that lasted for two years until Anthony Bennett joined the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2013. And, as we mentioned earlier in our list, Thompson has also represented his country in basketball, having competed with the national team in the Olympics.

10 He's Exactly Khloé Kardashian's Type

Khloé Kardashian definitely has a type, and it's not just tall, dark, and handsome. She seems to have a bit of thing for athletes. Now she's found herself another one, and hopefully these two are going to be together for a really long time!

Some of Kardashian's famous exes, who just happen to also be basketball players, include James Harden (who she dated briefly between June of 2015 and February of 2016), and Rashad McCants (who she was linked to back in 2008). And of course the most famous ex of them all was her former husband, Lamar Odom. The couple had a bit of a whirlwind romance and were married after just a month of meeting in 2009. Kardashian and Odom's rocky relationship is well-documented (as is most of her life) and ended in 2013.

9 He Dated Model Jordan Craig

Before Tristan Thompson started dating Khloé Kardashian, he was dating model Jordan Craig, and the pair reportedly broke up not long before our new favorite couple were spotted together.

And now, after learning this information, most of you are probably asking the question, "who is Jordan Craig?" Well, she's an Instagram model who currently has around 385,000 followers on the social media platform. And she's the cousin of Eniko Parrish, who is married to comedian Kevin Hart. However, Jordan also has a strange connection to the Kardashian clan, and no, it has nothing to do with Thompson.

According to reports, Craig once dated Tyga, who everyone already knows is the ex-boyfriend of Kylie Jenner (the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner household). Talk about a small world...

8 His Baby With Khloé Is Not His First

Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson will reportedly welcome their baby into the world in March of 2018, and when they do, the little one will meet their older half-brother.

Thompson and Jordan Craig share a son named Prince Oliver Thompson, who was born on Dec. 12, 2016. The only awkward thing about this is that the couple were not together at the time of their son's birth, and Thompson had already started dating Kardashian.

It's also very likely that the two children will not be the limit for Thompson, because he reportedly wants a big family. Kardashian previously revealed this during Keeping Up with the Kardashians. "He wants to have, like, five or six kids with me, and that's lovely," she said, adding, "We could start at one and then grow from there. But now, knowing I'm not on birth control, it's really scary. It's, like, a really big step."

7 He And Khloé Have Mutual Friends

💪🏾🙏🏾

A relationship is always made easier when you share mutual friends (well, if it works out that is) and Tristan Thompson and Khloé Kardashian were actually introduced by their mutual friend, Brandon Jennings.

On the Keeping Up With The Kardashians 10th anniversary special, Kardashian spoke about how Jennings set her up with Thompson. She told Ryan Seacrest, "Brandon Jennings, who's a basketball player, he's a friend of mine and Malika Haqq's, and he was like, 'You're such a good girl, I want to introduce you to someone.'"

She continued, "I was at the Bel-Air hotel. [Tristan] came to the dinner because I didn't want to go on a blind date, so Brandon kind of ambushed the blind date. 'So, I had a bunch of people and he brought him and we just connected.'"

She may not have been looking for love at the time, but I think it's safe to say Kardashian owes Jennings a massive thank you for being so persistent.

6 He's Not The Only Athlete In The Family

The reason this all matters... FAMILY #AmariThompsonFund #Thankful

As it turns out, Tristan Thompson is not the only pro-athlete in the family, because his first cousin, Jemal Thompson, is reportedly a former Canadian Football League defensive lineman. Jemal was born in 1989, which makes him two years older than his cousin, and he's also slightly shorter with a height of 6"4, compared to Tristan's 6"9. I know what you're thinking, there must have been something in the water these guys drank that gave them a serious growth spurt.

Also, it's worth noting that Jemal is not the only person in Tristan's family with athletic abilities, because according to Hollywood Life, his brother Dishawn (the second oldest son of the four boys) played high school basketball in Allen, Kentucky, and it's possible that he may also make it into the pros.

5 There's A Singer With The Same Name

There's bound to be many people in the world with the name Tristan Thompson, but there are two famous Canadian ones that we know of, and they are in very different professions. The other Thompson is a singer from British Columbia, who, according to AllMusic, is "an exuberant, soulful singer, with a bent toward electronic, dance-oriented R&B."

But the basketball player has no idea who the musician is. According to ESPN, when asked about the singer, Tristan responded with, "Is he any good? Does he have a lot of views? Like millions? Is he good-looking? Do girls like him?" He then added, "He probably gets Twitter mentions about me. He hasn't blown up yet."

According to the singer's Twitter account, he has almost 100,000 followers, but I also noticed he hasn't posted anything since August of 2016. He should probably think about changing his name...

4 You Can Expect Him To Go Big For Halloween

❤️

A post shared by Khloé (@khloekardashian) on

In October of 2016, Tristan Thompson and Khloé Kardashian had not been dating for long, but they still decided to coordinate their costumes for Halloween. The pair went as Marvel Comics characters Storm (who is usually associated with X-Men) and Black Panther. And can I just say, they looked fantastic. This is made even more impressive by the fact that they managed to pull this off after just one month of dating.

This is why I'm left wondering how they plan to top these costumes this year.

I think Thompson and Kardashian are going to wow us, of course, and maybe they'll choose something that gives a nod to their unborn child. That said, I also think we can learn two important things about this couple from this picture: they seemed pretty smitten from early on, and they're fun together.

3 He's No Stranger To Rumors

It should come as no surprise that Tristan Thompson has been the subject of a few rumors over the course of the year, and that's because of his girlfriend. Being linked to a Kardashian means you're going to get a lot of attention from the media, and their relationship has been subjected to speculation and false reports, but perhaps the most harsh was the rumor about Thompson's teammate, LeBron James, reportedly thinking that Kardashian was a distraction.

In September of 2016, shortly after the couple started dating, Hollywood Life reported that James was having a problem with his teammate's relationship. A source reportedly said this, "LeBron is not going to take any nonsense and if Tristan starts focusing on being on TV and being a celebrity while dating Khloé, then that is where the problems will come. LeBron wants everyone to be ready to repeat as champs and bring another title to Cleveland!"

2 Everyone Really Likes Him

The Fab Four

A post shared by Khloé (@khloekardashian) on

One of the most important things to know about Tristan Thompson is probably how likable he is, and everyone seems to love him. This includes the people who are in his girlfriend (and soon to be baby mama) Khloé Kardashian's inner circle.

Malika Haqq, who has been Kardashian's BFF for years, told People magazine in October of 2016 that Thompson is great for her friend. She said, "He's really nice to her. He's the coolest guy in the world — and you know, Khloé's always loved basketball."

And apparently the couple also have a lot in common, because Haqq told the publication that both Kardashian and Thompson are very kind and giving, and that they have a lot of time for the people they love. Aww.

1 He's Been Compared To Lamar Odom

This may be one of the strangest comparisons, but according to an article by staff writer Dave McMenamin, which was first published on the ESPN website in May of 2015 (long before Tristan Thompson and Khloé Kardashian started dating), he compared Thompson to Lamar Odom (who happens to be Kardashian's ex-husband).

Turns out there may be more similarities between Odom and Thompson than we thought (despite the obvious that they are both basketball players) because McMenamin notes that one of the things about Thompson that really stood out for him is how "his character and how his sunny demeanor really seemed to contribute to his success." He goes on to write, "I covered Lamar Odom when he was with the Los Angeles Lakers, and Tristan sort of reminded me of Odom in that regard."
