Lindsay Lohan was back in the news earlier this month when someone captured footage of her and her fiancé, Egor Tarabasov, fighting in Mykonos. What started off as just a verbal argument, quickly escalated and unfortunately got physical. The two wrestled each other as Lindsay screamed and begged for him to get off of her. We have also recently heard breakup and pregnancy rumors in regards to the couple. And when it comes to Lindsay, we never quite know what to believe. From her tumultuous relationship with her family, accusations of theft, and a million too many driving under the influence incidences, Lindsay is no stranger to bad publicity. Here are 15 of Lindsay Lohan’s most WTF moments.
15 When she claimed to have saved the lives of 40 kids in India
In 2009, the then 23-year-old visited India to help make a documentary about women, children, and trafficking in the country for BBC. On the visit, she tweeted, “Over 40 children saved so far, within one day's work...This is what life is about...Doing THIS is a life worth living!!! Oh, and I'm talking about being in India.”
She also posted, ‘'Trafficking is a big issue here. I'm doing what I can...Keep telling people about what's going on in all 2nd and 3rd world countries...Focusing on celebrities and lies is so disconcerting, when we can be changing the world one child at a time. Hope everyone can see that.”
At the time, she was at the height of her partying days, so it’s safe to say that no one expected her to attempt to be the next Mother Theresa. Totally weird, but kudos to her!
14 When she tried to sue E-Trade for using the name Lindsay
In 2010, the online investment site, E-Trade premiered a very funny and somewhat inappropriate commercial during the Super Bowl that featured a “milkaholic” baby named Lindsay and Miss. Lohan wasn’t having it. She threatened to sue the company for $100 million dollars because she felt that the commercial’s baby Lindsay was mocking her and her many very public drug and alcohol-related incidents. I mean, it is pretty obvious that that is exactly what they were doing, but $100 million dollars? Really? Good luck with that Miss. Lohan.
E-Trade called her claims, “meritless” saying that she doesn’t own the name Lindsay. Lohan reportedly settled the lawsuit that she filed against the brokerage and both her lawyer and the representative for E-Trade would not disclose the details of the settlement.
13 When she used her alcohol-monitoring anklet as an accessory
What do you do when you get arrested after you drunkenly crash your car into a tree in Beverly Hills and have to wear an alcohol-monitoring anklet? You not only wear it, but you show it off, and accessorize!
In 2007, Lohan was first arrested for the offense mentioned above, but then was arrested again two years later when she was caught chasing the mother of Lohan’s former personal assistant in Santa Monica. Lohan pleaded guilty to both cases to two misdemeanor counts for being under the influence of cocaine, she pleaded no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level above .08 percent, and one count of reckless driving.
And what did she win? A brand new ankle bracelet to show off and wear with flair.
12 When she basically told a judge to Fu*k off
During a court appearance for a probation violation hearing in 2010, Lindsay used her nails to send a pretty aggressive message. She was called into court when her alcohol-detecting SCRAM bracelet sounded an alarm on the night of the MTV Movie Awards. Uh oh. Looks like someone wanted her MTV! This was a violation of Lindsay’s bail and proved that she lied about consuming alcohol while she was on probation. When sitting in the courthouse, her nails were on fleek and looked like a normal manicure from afar, but up close, you could read the words, "Fu*k U." Classy move, little lady. Well, it was the judge who got the last laugh and the final "Fu*k U" when she was sentenced to 90 days in prison.
11 When we found out that she was a hoarder
So now we can add 'hoarder' to Miss. Lindsay Lohan’s list of quirks. In The Insider's coverage of "Lindsay Lohan: Secret Celebrity Hoarder" in 2010, we saw hundreds of pairs of shoes, way too many of the same hats, and boxes and boxes of accessories overflowing and taking over her whole place. It was clear when watching the special that all this clutter was covering up a much, much bigger problem. The actress admitted that her disorganized house takes up "a lot of space, mentally." Yea, you think?
At first, the family said that Lindsay’s unwanted stuff would be donated to charity, which is a very nice gesture, but in the end, the family started a website instead called LohanHouse.com where they sold all of her unwanted goodies to her fans.
10 When her dad called her a prostitute
When you hear or see interviews with her parents, Michael and Dina, it is not surprising that Lindsay has publicly gone off the deep end, again and again and again. While Lindsay is the queen of controversy in their family, Michael and Dina have become tabloid regulars themselves. Lindsay has been very public in regards to her feelings about her father, calling him a "liar," a "lunatic," a "loser," and a "deadbeat dad." And what did Michael do to clear the air? He compared her to a prostitute, of course. Oh, dad! You’re so embarrassing!
In a statement made in Star magazine, Michael was quoted saying that she was being "pimped" out to rich men by her mother. "She is getting paid to date rich men, Dina is pimping her out - it's disgusting."
9 When she got kicked out of Chateau Marmont in 2012
What happens when you don’t pay your bill at the hotel that you staying in? You get kicked out, of course. And this wasn’t just not paying the bill, this was not paying the $46,000 bill. Yea, you can’t just call up your friend like, “Oh no, I forgot my wallet. Can you just spot my $46,000 bill at Chateau Marmont? I’ll totally pay you back. I promise!”
According to TMZ, in the message to Lohan from the general manager, Philip Pavel, he wrote: "As we have made repeated attempts to resolve this pressing matter over the last few weeks without any resolution, I regret to inform you that we will no longer be able to extend any further credit for you to remain in the hotel. Please have all of your belongings removed from Suite 33 by 12.00pm, Wednesday, August 1, 2012. Furthermore, until we get the matter of your outstanding debt paid, know that we will be unable to host you on property or in the restaurant. I appreciate your immediate attention to this matter, and look forward to receiving payment and putting this behind us."
8 When she tried to sue Pitbull and lost
A year after she tried to sue E-Trade, she went after Pitbull and filed a lawsuit against him for his 2010 track "Give Me Everything." In the song, he sings, "Hustlers move aside, so I'm tiptoein', to keep flowin' / I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan." Lindsay claimed that he wasn't authorized to use her name and sought an injunction to stop the broadcasting of Pitbull’s hit song.
Lohan claimed that "the lyrics, by virtue of its wide appeal, condemnation, excoriation, disparaging or defamatory statements by the defendants about the plaintiff are destined to do irreparable harm to the plaintiff." And the actress said that she was being "exploited for commercial purposes."
She lost the lawsuit. I guess you should never mess with a Pitbull.
7 When her and Betty White had a falling out
Uh oh. Don’t piss off Betty White. She may look like sugar and spice and everything nice, but she is a badass who is not afraid to speak her mind. In an interview with The Daily Mail about her generation of celebrities compared to this generation, White said, “I cannot stand the people who get wonderful starts in show business, and who abuse it. Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen, for example, although there are plenty of others, too. They are the most blessed people in the world and they don't appreciate it."
She went on to say, "We considered ourselves lucky to be on the box, never complained if a critic didn't like us, dressed modestly and were always on our best behaviour in public...[Modern stars] party too much, don't learn their lines, are unprofessional and they grumble about everything. I think they are terribly ungrateful.”
Lindsay responded via E! News, saying "Wow, I've always been a fan of hers...It's just a bit strange when people feel they must speak publicly about others. Especially a grown woman."
6 When she stole that necklace
It is kind of hard to get away with anything when you always have the paparazzi on your tail. After the paps released a photo that they snapped of LiLo wearing a one-of-a-kind $2,500 gold necklace, the owner of a jewelry store in Venice, CA came forward and filed a complaint that Lohan stole it from her shop. TMZ obtained the police report which stated that Lindsay walked out of the store wearing the necklace after trying several things. When the owner saw that the necklace was missing, she assumed that Lohan accidentally took it and would come back and return it, but never did. There was surveillance video showing Lindsay putting the necklace in her purse and walking off with it, but she still plead not guilty to the charge.
5 When she made the movie, "The Canyons"
In 2013, the indie movie The Canyons was made on a micro budget and even relied on crowdfunding to help raise the funds. It starred LiLo opposite porn star, James Deen. The indie movie, directed by Paul Schrader and written by American Psycho's Bret Easton Ellis, was a disaster from day one when she didn’t show up to set. She was immediately fired, but she begged, sobbing on her hands and knees for 90 minutes in a hotel hallway to be given a second chance. She was constantly late, constantly trying to call the shots, and constantly fighting with her co-stars. She even made the director strip down and get naked in order for her to do the same when it was time to film a four-way sex scene. In the end, the erotic thriller was rejected by the SXSW film festival and the Sundance Film Festival over "quality issues," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
4 When she criticized people for being upset about the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy
You guys! I know your whole lives are being destroyed and everything is flooded, but let’s not bring everybody down, okay? Jeez! At least, that was Lindsay's stance on things when Hurricane Sandy came around in 2012.
In the heat of the destruction of Hurricane Sandy, Lilo tweeted, "WHY is everyone in SUCH a panic about hurricane (i'm calling it Sally)..?" Stop projecting negativity! Think positive and pray for peace." Then LiLo proceeded to nickname the approaching storm, "Hurricane Sassy."
3 When she posted that she was pregnant on April Fool’s Day
On April Fool’s Day, you usually prank your friends and loved ones in the morning and then right after, you say, “April Fools!" Well, Lindsay didn’t quite follow the rules and no big surprise there, right? In 2013, no longer even on actual April 1, Lindsay tweeted to her followers and the rest of cyberspace, "It's official. Pregnant..." And then… crickets. Nothing. Nada. Nilch. Leaving fans very confused and curious as to whether she was actually pregnant or if it was just a prank. And then, the follow up came the next day when she tweeted, “April Fools. Where's everyone's sense of humor?”
At the time, she had just been ordered to serve 90 days in a rehab center, undergo psychotherapy, and perform community service so it’s probably a good thing that it was just a joke!
2 When she ‘kidnapped’ three dudes
Well, she didn’t exactly take anyone for ransom, but in 2007, she was sued by three guys who got stuck with her while she was drunk driving like a maniac. The three men, Dante Nigro, Jakon Sutter, and Ronnie Blake were friends with her assistant’s boyfriend and were invited by Lohan to go to a Malibu party. On the way to the party, Lindsay stopped at her assistant’s house and, as they pulled up, her assistant’s mother was pulling out of the driveway.
She started driving erratically, chasing the mother through Santa Monica and blowing through stop signs and the three men claim that she endangered their lives. They received a settlement in 2012 for having to endure the joy ride from hell. During the incident, LiLo was arrested for failing the sobriety test when her assistant’s mother ended the chase at the nearest police station.
1 When she tried to have a comeback with "Liz & Dick"
I don’t know about you, but when I heard that Lifetime was producing a biopic of the lives of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton starring LiLo, I set my DVR right away. Lindsay was made to play Liz! Their turbulent personal lives mirrored one another and they both had a difficult and complicated relationship with the media. It was perfect! This movie was supposed to be her comeback and there was so much publicity leading up to it. When it premiered however, it received very bad reviews and was described by Digital Spy as an "awfully cheap... turgid slog" that "is terrible on several levels." Unfortunately, Liz & Dick did not help her career at all, and actually made her even more of a laughing stock. The poor girl just can’t catch a break.
