Without Kris Jenner, there wouldn’t be a Kardashian Empire. The story goes that when she married Bruce, Kris took on a public relations role when he was still racing cars. In a way, this helped pave the way for Kris to broker a deal with E! to bring Keeping Up With the Kardashians to the tube. As everyone knows, this was the platform that helped launch careers for the Kardashian sisters. Since the show premiered a decade ago, the Kardashian family has not only become a household name but a full-fledged, commercialized brand.

If recent years have been any indication, there’s definitely no signs of stopping. The family's money-making possibilities don't stop with the older Kardashian and Jenner sisters—one day there will be another generation of Kardashians (now only kids) who will take up the mantle. That doesn’t mean the road will be easy peasy, however. We’ve put together a list of things the children of Kim, Kylie, Kourtney, Kendall, Khloe and Rob will need if they’re going to carry the legacy into the future.

15 Achieving socialite status

The road to becoming a socialite is a lot of work—it requires a constant presence in the media only some are ever able to achieve. Back at the Met Gala in 2017, Kylie Jenner took a selfie in the bathroom involving a bunch of high-profile celebs. This picture perfectly epitomizes the Kardashians and what they’re able to pull off when they’re in their element. We have no doubt the Kardashians pulled all of these celebrities together and convinced them to snap a photo, which shows how good they are at influencing others.

Kylie managing to rally everyone into the picture is the kind of Kardashian-sense that the kids should have in life if they want to further the family brand. People go crazy for pictures like this! If the kids could learn how to improve on it (similar to what Kylie and Kendall are doing now), then the Kardashians could take another leap forward when it comes to their media presence.

14 Don’t be afraid of publicity—conquer it

As the saying goes, “There’s no such thing as bad publicity.” Whether this stereotype is true or not, the Kardashians sure make a case for it being accurate. Although the Kardashian kids don’t know it yet, they have a whole life ahead of them filled with publicity.

From the moment they were born, images were plastered of them all over the internet and magazines, making them overnight stars. If they want to carry on the traditions that the Kardashian family has already established for them, they’re going to have to be willing to face the barrage of camera flashes waiting for them wherever they go.

If anything, a rule they’re going to have to live by is welcoming the press and whatever interviews or pictures people want to take. Being open to the public eye will only help further the Kardashian brand if they choose to be a part of the family business.

13 Always stay relevant

As obvious as this one sounds, a Kardashian knows that to stay at the top, they have to be relevant. Even if they aren’t really relevant at the moment—or as some say they are repetitive—the Kardashians have to work at being known and involved. This is an important rule for the Kardashian kids to follow if they want to achieve the same kind of success their parents have now.

Getting invited to parties and starring in reality shows are just some examples of what it means to be (or at least appear to be) important. While the Kardashians aren’t necessarily important when it comes to politics or solving world crises, the truth of the matter is that our culture is saturated with them. With this kind of foothold, the Kardashians have managed to create a lot of influence and in turn, get generously compensated for it.

12 Social media is life!

There's no question about it—a Kardashian has to have a social media presence. It’s a must. How else does a Kardashian promote themselves than by social media? The great thing about social media is that it cuts out the need for celebs to go through newspapers or TV to connect with their fans, thus providing them a direct way to send minute-by-minute info on their goings-on.

The Kardashian kids can’t get away with just an email and a LiveJournal account (remember those?) if they want to be a part of the family—they’re going to have to get with the latest and trendiest ways of showing yourself off. By the time these kids are grown, they’ll probably have holograms or virtual reality to keep people interested in their daily lives. Whatever it ends up being next, you can expect the Kardashians to always be ahead of the curve when it comes to social media.

11 Sticks and stones

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” is the old saying. Those are words for the kids to live by if they want to survive all the mean things people will inevitably say about them. It’s no secret the Kardashians are often criticized for the lifestyles they live, how they spend their money and the image they present to the world.

But in the end, the Kardashians manage to keep on going without stopping or letting the words get to them (at least visibly). It takes an incredible thick skin in order to shake off the vitriol that’s said about them. While it’s probably in their genes, the kids will still need to learn how to deal with detractors later on in life. As a Kardashian, they can’t get bogged down by what others say or let it affect them too personally.

10 Be an entrepreneur

The word entrepreneur gets thrown around a lot these days and gets a bad rep sometimes. That’s because some people refer to themselves as an entrepreneur, though they don’t really do anything (or do so many things, they aren’t able to focus on one in particular). The Kardashians, however, have proven they know what they’re doing when it comes to running a business. Being business-savvy and cutting-edge when it comes to the latest trends and technology is a must for a Kardashian, if they want to stay with it.

Just look at what Kim managed to do with her “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood” mobile app game, which was downloaded more than 42 million times. Especially these days, technology is moving so rapidly that our culture is changing more and more. That means the Kardashian kids can’t continue their habits of taking naps now into their later years, or else they’ll miss out on the latest and greatest advancements. It’s absolutely necessary that the Kardashians know the business inside and out if they want to carry the reputation of their name.

9 Welcome to your life as a promotional tool

Look, when a celebrity finds something they like (or they can be approached by the company), and they want to tell others about it, that can often lead to a nice big payday in return. The Kardashians have made plenty of these deals and will continue to make them—it’s part of their business. So if these Kardashian kids want to carry that business model that’s worked well for the family up to this point, they’re going to have to get on the bandwagon and start promoting.

The nice thing is it doesn’t require too much effort, really just their image and name on a product. While one’s association with a product does carry some weight to it, the Kardashians are already established in the public eye—and unless they do something notorious when they’re older—which can only continue to look favorable to others. They won’t go wrong with endorsing products as one way to make money when they’re older.

8 Say goodbye to privacy

While there may not be many downsides to being a Kardashian, the loss of privacy is certainly one of them. Thankfully, most of the Kardashians are extroverted, high-energy individuals who were born to be in the limelight and love soaking up every minute of it (at least that’s how it looks to us). But if the Kardashian kids want to carry the family name, they’re going to have to accept that they’re popular (already) and people will give them attention.

With these things, naturally, there comes an end to privacy—at least on a level that most ordinary people have. In a world where the paparazzi exists—and people are paid to literally snap photos of them—it’s hard for a Kardashian to live a public life and not be harassed by everyone. The Kardashian kids will need to be fine with sharing their lives with the public if they want to follow in the same footsteps as their parents.

7 Where's that shock and awe?

Sometimes it takes something shocking in order to get people’s attentions. By now, the Kardashians have become seasoned pros at this. They know the public is fickle and loses interest easily.

To combat this, in order to have sustainable attention, they sometimes resort to really outlandish things. For example, Kim once got $200,000 in stocks from Kanye for Christmas, which included shares in big companies like Adidas, Apple, Amazon and Netflix. That’s a lot of money to be spending on any Christmas gift.

Then, there was the time that Kim used her own blood for a face mask in a procedure known as a “vampire facial.” Of course, she posted the photo of her wearing blood on her face, just to drive the point home. While we don’t recommend getting “vampire facials” or doing anything harmful, we do think it’s necessary for the kids to eventually do things that will get attention if they want to keep the family business alive.

6 Master the selfie

The Kardashians have perfected the selfie. They know how to look good in a picture. It doesn’t matter whether they’re the ones taking the picture, or someone else—they’re going to look their best. To be a Kardashian requires the ability to take exceptional selfies. The Kardashian kids are already halfway there by being photogenic—now they just need to know how to ham it up for the cameras.

If they want to be true Kardashians, it’s important they not be camera shy. In addition, they need to master their walk down the red carpet and learn how to pose for the paparazzi. The Kardashians know that above everything they do, image is the most important of all. So when it comes to how the world sees them, the cameras will be where they are no matter what—they just need to be sure and do their part in striking a memorable pose.

5 Do everything big

The Kardashian Empire is big, and that means the Kardashians have to live big lives. Thinking small is not a tried and true model for the business to succeed. They even find ways to integrate publicity and attention into their (somewhat) private lives.

For example, when Kim wanted to surprise Kanye with a birthday present a few years back, naturally she rented out the Staples Center. Kanye and his friends were then free to play basketball on the court all to themselves.

Sure, Kim could’ve done anything for Kanye—like bake him a cake or take him out to dinner. But instead, in the style of a Kardashian, she rented out an entire stadium for $110,000! That’s doing it big. If the Kardashian kids want to make a splash, embracing the Kardashian lifestyle, then one of the rules is to do it big.

4 Flaunt that money

If there’s one common denominator unifying all the Kardashians, it’s that they got a lot of dough. They say, “money makes the world go round,” and so does the Kardashian Empire if it’s going to function. But like a responsible Kardashian, one must use money in ways that will help the family name, either by getting positive attention or for other business needs that will create assets over time.

An irresponsible Kardashian uses his or her money with only themselves in mind and doesn’t work to promote the family image. While a Kardashian might just look like they’re flaunting money, a lot of times they’re marketing a product and actually putting it toward something that will help the family business in the long run. Therefore, a Kardashian kid (when they’re older) ought to use their money with good intentions—while also looking good doing it.

3 Designer duds

Some of the kids are already doing this, thanks to their style-savvy parents (we’re looking at you, North). The kids will have to be dressed to the nines when they’re older if they want to make the family proud. While no one is able to predict exactly what fashion will be like by the time they’re adults, we have every bit of confidence they’ll be up on the latest trends by that point.

The Kardashians are skilled at not only being ahead of styles in fashion today but at ways to mix it up. Whether it comes to hairstyles, accessories or clothes, the Kardashians are synonymous with chic (and it’s likely the kids will inherit the same fashion-sense as well). Then again, a Kardashian can probably get away with wearing anything and making it popular, so perhaps they’ll just end up making their own fashionable styles instead.

2 Loyal to the family

Families have to stick together. No matter what, they have to stay true to the family and never do anything that would tarnish it. Even once on Twitter, Kim stuck up for her sister Khloe when her ex-husband, NBA star Lamar Odom said that his marriage was over when she moved on to “her second or third NBA player.” Kim replied back saying “or second or third brothel,” which alluded to Lamar’s struggle with prostitution houses.

Kim coming to the defense of her sister was just one of many examples the Kardashians have shown over the years when it comes to standing by each other. The Kardashian kids have to do the same for each other and their parents! In order for the family to stay strong, they must all live with the understanding that when things get hard, they’re there for each other no matter what happens.

1 Embrace life’s drama

Drama seems to follow the Kardashians wherever they go—or is it the Kardashians who create the drama themselves? Whatever the answer may be, the Kardashians have shown they’re capable of (and skilled at) embracing drama. Life is full of problems, headaches and maladies—but it’s how we respond to those things that make us great. The Kardashians are “great” in the public eye because they’ve managed to overcome obstacles in life and come out the other end as being successful.

The Kardashian kids are going to face lots of drama, even if they don’t create it themselves. Not only will they need to roll with the punches, but meet their challenges head-on, accepting that they will survive and live to fight another day. That’s been proven time and again to be the Kardashian way, no matter how many obstacles they’re up against. We think the Kardashian kids have what it takes.
