15 Scandalous Secrets About The Cast Of '90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days'

TLC's reality show, 90 Day Fiancé has proven incredibly popular, so it's not surprising that there's a spinoff of the show, Before The 90 Days. And honestly, it may be the best one yet. This season we get to meet four couples: Darcey and Jesse, Paul and Karine, Sean and Abby, and Larry and Jenny, who are all in international romances, trying hard to start a life together in America.

But really big age gaps are not the only thing about this season that stands out, because I can already tell it's going to be filled with drama. From meddling ex-boyfriends, criminal records, to freak outs over becoming a reality star, and impossible language barriers, this is just a small sample of what's in store. Below are 15 things every fan of the show needs to know about this season's cast!

15 Paul Staehle Is A Bad Boy

It seems that on every season of 90 Day Fiancé there is someone with a shady past, and this season that role falls to Paul Staehle.

InTouch Weekly reports that according to the Kentucky corrections website, Paul was convicted of felony arson in 2014. The incident allegedly happened in 2007 (although he was only convicted seven years later), when Paul supposedly committed second-degree arson and "burning personal property to defraud insurer," the website reports. Starcasm shed more light on Paul's past, claiming that he is currently "supervised under shock probation," which led them to believe that he probably spent some time behind bars.

And there may be even more secrets that Paul's hiding, because he has also said, "One of the relationships I was in ended so badly, it ended up getting me in some serious trouble." Okay, Paul, so what did you do?

14 Darcey Was On 'Million Dollar Matchmaker' (Maybe)

Apparently Darcey Silva is no stranger to reality TV, and she has reportedly appeared on Million Dollar Matchmaker. The show is hosted by matchmaker Patti Stanger, who tries her best to find a perfect match for a wealthy client through her Millionaire's Club dating service. And according to Starcasm, Silva may have been one of the hopefuls who was trying to get a date with a rich bachelor.

The publication reveals that a woman who is referred to as "Ms. Silva" appears on the show as a potential date for Scott Baldwin — who according to WeTV is a 46-year-old retired marine and a loving dad to his 10-year-old daughter.

However, because Silva's first name is not used, it's possible that the person on the show could be her twin sister, Stacey (more on this later). You decide!

13 Sean's Nickname For Abby Is Freaking Everyone Out

These two have a 27 year age difference, so when Sean is calling Abby "baby girl," it really makes some people's skin crawl. He is literally old enough to have a daughter her age.

Fans have reacted to the nickname on Twitter. Comments include one from Dottie Minerva‏ who wrote, "I am legit nauseated every time [sic] I hear Sean, I mean Chris, I mean Sean, calling Abby 'baby girl'. #90DayFiance #90dayfiancebeforethe90days."

And Rhonda W.‏ felt the same. They tweeted, "It's creepy hearing Sean call Abby 'baby girl.' The eww factor this season is off the charts. #90dayfiancebeforethe90days."

However, Sean has reacted to the backlash, tweeting at a user that he hopes that they watch with an open mind. He added, "I've dated Black women for years and to a T, they have all preferred to be called baby girl. It may not be cultural, but seems like it."

12 Abby Was Married Before...Well, Kinda?

This is maybe the most juicy bit of information to come out of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, because according to the Twitter account, @90DayFiancéFan, Abby was married in 2014 (she would have only been aged 17 at the time). The @90DayFianceFan account shared a screenshot of Abby getting engaged to someone named Armi St-Germain in 2013, and then she changed her status to married in 2014.

Now, I don't know about you, but when I first started using Facebook when I was a teenager, I did a lot of stupid things when it came to relationship statuses. I think at one point I even referred to my best friend as my mother *insert eye roll here* so it's entirely possible that Abby was just having a little fun.

11 Darcey Was Married To A Wannabe Rapper

Darcey is ready to find happiness again with Jesse. The pair met on an international dating site and even before meeting in person, Darcey was convinced that she had found "the one." And hopefully it is the right one the second time around, because Darcey is a divorced mom of two pre-teen girls.

From the reality TV reel, The Twin Life, we can see that Darcey was married to a man named Frank Bollock. According to Starcasm, Bollock was described as being an "up-and-coming rapper," and in the reel we can see him rapping on a few occasions. Nowadays, according to the publication, Frank has ditched his rap career and appears to be working in sales. He has reportedly also remarried and has a great relationship with his new wife and his children.

10 Darcey Is Freaking Out About What Fans Will Think

Something you should know about Darcey Silva is that she cares how she is going to be portrayed in the media, and she doesn't think it's going to be very flattering. Darcey is dating Jesse Meester, a much younger and good-looking man (you know, if you're into the whole six pack thing).

She reportedly shared her fears on her Facebook page when she wrote, "Wow!!! I'm so sad and lost for words!!! I'm already feeling not portrayed well here! Good luck to me!!!!" I'm not sure what exactly she did that has made her feel nervous about appearing on the show, but I'm definitely keen to find out.

The good news is that Jesse is in her corner, because he reportedly commented on the post reassuring her that everything will be fine. He wrote, "Babe you look amazing and you will shine as always!!"

9 Jesse Is Getting A Lot Of Female Attention

If I was Darcey Silva, I may also be regretting my decision to make my love affair so public, because her relationship with Jesse, the personal trainer from Amsterdam, is still so new. There's also a pretty big age difference between the pair: Darcey is aged 42, while Jesse Meester is only aged 24.

That's not to say that relationships can't work with a big age gap, but it's possible that these two are at very different stages of their lives. Darcey has already been married once and has two daughters.

But the worst part of this is that according to Darcey, Jesse has been getting a lot of attention from women who have reportedly reached out to him since seeing a clip of the show, which is rude, because he's clearly taken!

8 Paul And Karine Have Major Communication Issues

This is certainly one of the more complicated relationships on the show, because Paul and Karine cannot even speak to each other in person: They only communicate via translated messages (!!). Paul is from Louisville, Kentucky, and Karine is from Brazil, which means he speaks English and she speaks Portuguese.

Can you imagine how many things get misinterpreted this way? I don't know about you, but I think this must be incredibly challenging and I'm not sure you can fully get to know someone by only communicating via translated messages. Paul previously spoke about the language barrier, saying, "Sometimes the translations are way off and it causes some problems." Woah!

But hey, to each their own, and this couple is clearly still trying to figure things out.

7 Larry And Jenny Have A 13-Year Age Gap

There are a lot of couples this season with really big age gaps, and actually, Larry and Jenny with their 13-year age gap are one of the couples who are closer in age. Still, it's a pretty significant age difference, especially considering that Larry is aged 37, while Jenny is only 24.

Again, these two could be in very different places with their lives. Larry is from Pinellas Park, Florida, while his potential new fiancée lives in the Philippines. And apart from their age gap, there's not too much we know about this couple. They are certainly not as popular (or spoken about) as Darcey and Jesse.

What we do know, is that according to TLC, the couple encountered some problems when Larry starts to doubt Jenny's true intentions. Could this be because she just wants to move to the United States? Could she be more interested in launching a reality TV career? At this stage, who knows?!

6 Poor Paul, He's Been Hurt Before

Who hasn't had their heart broken in the past? I bet very few of those who read this article will be able to honestly say that they have never been hurt before. And that is what may make Paul a somewhat relatable character — at least for this reason.

According to InTouch Weekly, he spoke about his heartache while the TLC cameras were rolling, and revealed that he hasn't had "much luck" with the women in Louisville. He added, "I've been betrayed. I've experienced unfaithful girlfriends — a lot of negative, chaotic things. Being burned that many times definitely affects anybody."

Being cheated on can have damaging effects which last a lot longer than the relationship ever did, so here's hoping that Paul has broken that pattern with his international lover, Karine.

5 Darcey And Her Twin, Stacey, Wanted To Be On Reality TV

I'm sure Darcey joined 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days for the right reasons, and from what I've seen so far, she and Jesse seem to be smitten. But her past does suggest that she has always wanted to be a reality TV star, because she and her sister, Stacey, even put out a pilot for a show called, The Twin Life.

There is a video from 2010 which was posted on YouTube by 360DigitalStudios, and it's believed to be the reel for the proposed show. In the reel, the twins can be heard saying, "We are two busy moms and wives who dream of making it in showbiz." They also say, "Did I mention that we are twins and we live under one roof. There's always a double dose of drama in our world." Um, okay then?

4 Abby's Relationship With Her Ex Is Causing Problems

What is 90 Day Fiancé without a dose of drama? So, as to be expected, there is no shortage of surprises in the new show, including a complication between Sean Hiler and his Haitian beauty, Abby.

The problem? Abby's relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Chris, is causing tension between the new couple. Chris is reportedly also an American (and he's also a much older guy, 64 years old to be exact). According to AllAboutTheTea, he's not interested in marrying Abby and the pair claim to be "just friends." But that's not cool with Sean.

According to Us Weekly, during the show, there was a bit of tension with Sean telling Chris, "Honestly, I think you're poisonous to her. I do not want you and Abby having a relationship." Yikes.

3 Sean Didn't Want A Woman Who's Basically A Teenager

All of the couples this season have big age gaps, and Sean Hiler and Abby are separated by 27 years. This is something that Sean apparently thought long-and-hard about before getting involved in a relationship.

He told TLC, "She wasn't in the age group that I was looking for on my profile, but she messaged me anyways." He then checked out Abby's profile and was impressed by her beauty and intelligence. She's also going to college.

Abby told cameras that Sean asked her for her number and they started to talk on Whatsapp. Sean also revealed that they have been in "constant contact" since then, and that they video chat at least once a day.

While he wasn't looking to be with someone so young (she's only 20), it seems to have worked out for these two.

2 Darcey Thinks The Show Has Destroyed Her Life — And Her Business

As I mentioned earlier, Darcey is worried about the way that she will be portrayed on 90 Day Fiancé. Why exactly? I'm not so sure. But she's also concerned that her decision to appear on reality TV has destroyed her image and potentially her business.

According to Starcasm, Darcey reportedly posted a link of a preview on Facebook and revealed her anguish in the comment section of the post. She wrote, "Sorry, I feel like I just damaged my name and company! I should've kept our love private! Too many people judge and makes me look desperate and bad! Not good for my kids and family name either."

Strange that she's having second thoughts about reality TV now, after trying to become a reality star for so many years, right?

1 Jesse Needs Someone To Buy Him A Shirt

There's a lot to like about Jesse Meester, including the fact that he's not a big fan of shirts. Seriously, his Instagram is filled with shirtless pictures, not that you can blame the guy because he has a really great build.

Also, I believe Darcey's claim that women are contacting her man, because you only need to glance at his social media accounts and the comments that are on them, to see that he's an incredibly popular guy. The comment section on his photos are filled with heart-eye emojis and remarks about how gorgeous he is. These include comments from user @christyvm73 who wrote, "Absolutely gorgeous," and one from @lucindaclairej, who wrote, "Quietly admiring you from afar dear Sir."

Like all the couples on this show, I'm sure Jesse and Darcey will encounter their share of problems, but Jesse seems like a genuinely nice guy who is 100 percent deserving of love.
