Ah, the Golden Globes- the less formal, traditionally tipsy awards show that unites both television and film and sets the stage for a new year in Hollywood. With all those stars in one place, there's always something juicy to talk about at the end of the night (and it's usually not the awards). This year's no different.

After last year's #MeToo movement toppled stars like Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Louis C.K., Hollywood couldn't nope out of 2017 fast enough. Thanks to the Time's Up Movement, an anti-harassment action plan created to address systematic inequality in the workplace (and signed by hundreds of women in show business), this year's Golden Globes was full of activism and inspiration. Thanks to celebrities, this year's awards show was also full of drama, shenanigans, and serious shade-throwing.

If you missed it, never fear! Here's a list of 15 things you totally missed during this year's Golden Globe Awards.

15 They Wore Black For A Reason

They may have looked fierce, but this year's all-black theme at the Golden Globes had nothing to do with fashion. Many attendees opted to wear black in a show of support for the #MeToo and Time's Up movements. Time's Up is a movement started by many leading ladies in Hollywood as a way to stand in solidarity with victims of harassment and assault, and to represent them with a legal-defense fund.

Issa Rae, creator of the Youtube web series Awkward Black Girl, gave her reasons for wearing black in an interview with InStyle (and I think she said it best).

"What I love about it is that it's not just wearing black to wear black. I keep saying that it is going to feel like a big funeral. But in a good way it just feels like the death of old Hollywood... there's a new resolve, and it feels like even with the action points that we have with the legal-defense fund, and making agencies employ more women in position of power, it feels like this can actually get done. So it's more than just a color. It's more than just wearing black. We're about that action."

14 Seth Meyers Comes For The Creeps

When I first heard that (another) white man was going to be hosting the Golden Globes in light of all those Hollywood abuse allegations, I have to admit I raised an eyebrow. Could they not find one funny woman to host? Because I could think of like ten right off the top of my head. Even Seth was aware of how it looked.

“A lot of people thought it would be more appropriate for a woman to host these awards and they may be right, but if it’s any consolation, I’m a man with absolutely no power in Hollywood."

Ha! Funny, Seth. Regardless, he pulled it off and did a pretty solid job.

His opening line of, “Good evening ladies and remaining gentlemen,” really set the tone for the evening and I could literally feel the men in that room start to sweat. He didn't wait long before addressing Hollywood's biggest disgrace, either.

“I think it’s time to address the elephant not in the room… Harvey Weinstein is not here tonight. Don’t worry he’ll back back in 20 years when he’s the first person booed in the In Memoriam.”

OUCH....that was perfect.

13 Debra Messing Slams E!

While roaming the red carpet, Will & Grace's Debra Messing stopped by to chat with E!'s own Giuliana Rancic about the Time's Up movement. The interview didn't go where Rancic expected, however. After Messing explained that the campaign was also an attempt to help squash the gender pay gap, Messing came after E! in its own interview about unequal pay for their employees, even referencing Catt Sadler's decision to leave the network after learning she made less than her male peers.

Nice.

E! might not have been pleased, but the Internet sure as hell was.

12 Kendall Jenner's First Golden Globe Appearance

While it's not clear why she was even there, it's worth noting that Kendall Jenner made her first ever Golden Globes appearance this year. Opting to wear black in solidarity with the actors and actresses, she chose a dramatic (surprise, surprise) tulle gown with a massive slit to showcase her stems.

Kendall's surprise appearance created quite the stir on social media, with many fans wondering why she was there mingling with Hollywood's elite. I'm willing to bet it was just because she could, so it's not exactly rocket science. Twitter had a lot to say about it, however, with some users paying reference to her controversial Pepsi commercial, which came under fire for trivializing the Black Lives Matter movement in April 2017.

Calm TF down, Twitter! Whether we like it or not, she was probably invited.

11 Different Kind Of Plus-One

In addition to wearing all black in a show of solidarity, many A-list members of the Time's Up initiative brought racial and gender activists as their plus-ones to the Golden Globes. Actors usually just bring their date or a family member, so this was definitely a change from years past. As a result, the red carpet interviews were actually filled with substance instead of the usual, "who are you wearing?" It was a refreshing change.

Some of the plus-ones included #MeToo creator Tarana Burke, PR (Puerto Rico) On The Map's founder Rosa Clemente, and Ai-jen Poo, director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance. There were many more, so the list could go on. Emma Stone was also accompanied by Billie Jean King, longtime women’s and LGBT rights advocate who Stone played in her nominated film, Battle of the Sexes.

10 Tommy Wiseau Tries And Fails

When James Franco won the award for lead actor in a motion picture for his portrayal of Tommy Wiseau in The Disaster Artist, no one was surprised when he came up and took the mic alongside his brother, Dave Franco. People were surprised, however, when Tommy Wiseau came up to the stage and walked toward the microphone. They were even more surprised when James Franco physically blocked him from taking it.

The Disaster Artist was directed by Franco, who portrays Wiseau in a story about the making of Wiseau's now notorious 2003 movie, The Room. Wiseau wrote, directed and starred in The Room, putting it in theaters himself to qualify for the Academy Awards. It has since become a cult favorite.

Unsurprisingly, social media wasn't happy at James Franco for not allowing Wiseau to speak at an awards show, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for him that will likely never come again. After reading a long-winded speech from his phone, James never did give Wiseau a chance to say anything. When asked what he might have said if he'd had the opportunity, the Hollywood outsider's message was sweet and simple.

“If a lot of people loved each other, the world would be a better place to live.”

Hear that, Franco?

9 Hermione And Cedric Present An Award

Any Harry Potter fans out there?

Emma Watson and Robert Pattinson, who played Hermione Granger and Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter, presented the Best Limited Series or TV Movie category together and fans basically lost their shit. Even though Pattinson's character was only featured in 2005’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, that didn't stop loyal fans from blowing up Twitter about it.

“I’m still shook that Hermione Granger and Cedric Diggory got to present an award together,” a user tweeted.

The fact that Gary Oldman and David Thewlis were also attending the award show wasn't missed, either.

“The Harry Potter nerd in me wants to point out that Sirius, Lupin, Hermione and Cedric are all at the #GoldenGlobes. Did I miss anyone else?"

Harry Potter fans are crazy, y'all.

8 Mariah Carey Expects Tea

For those of you who didn't stay up to watch Mariah Carey's NYE performance during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, this tweet might not make much sense to you, but bear with me.

After sucking up 2016's NYE performance, Mariah Carey was dead set on redeeming herself in 2017. Right after she finished performing her first song (which was a little rocky, TBH), Carey began complaining about not having any hot tea available to her in the subzero temperatures. Seriously.

“I was told there would be tea. Oh, it’s a disaster!” she told the audience. “Okay well we’ll just have to rough it. I’m gonna be like everybody else with no hot tea.”

Of course, Mariah Carey's diva request sent Twitter into a frenzy, and before you knew it there were millions of tea memes to laugh at. Now, in a strange turn of events, Mariah seems actually able to laugh at herself! Her tweet about tea at the Golden Globes was a perfect way to poke fun at her own diva ways. Could it be that 2018 is the year Mariah Carey finally gets over herself?! One can dream.

7 Tom Hanks Delivers Drinks

In a time when bad news about male celebrities keeps giving us the dry heaves, it's so refreshing to read about an actual nice guy in Hollywood. Actor Tom Hanks was spotted delivering a tray of four martinis to his table by This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman, and Dan was impressed enough to tweet about it. Despite the fact that there were paid servers around, Tom Hanks wanted to personally deliver the drinks to everyone at his table during the first commercial break.

Globes guest Johanna Fuentes tweeted about it as well. "Reason number 357 to love Tom Hanks. He not only gets his own drinks, but brings martinis for the whole table. #Globes"

We're not sure how Tom Hanks has managed to stay a nice person, given the amount of money and power he has, but we're not complaining! Maybe he can teach a master class in Hollywood entitled, "How To Get Over Yourselves."

6 Kit Harrington and Emilia Clarke Reunite

Game of Thrones may not have won an award at the Golden Globes, but that doesn't mean GOT fans didn't have something to be happy about on Sunday night. Thanks to those responsible for putting together the presenters for the show, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen were briefly reunited during this long and brutal Game of Thrones hiatus and fans lost their damn minds.

"She plays Daenerys of the House Targaryen, The First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Rightful Heir to the Iron Throne, Protector of the Realm, Breaker of Chains, and The Mother of Dragons. He plays... Jon," joked Seth Meyers, as they walked on stage.

Although we GOT fans love good old-fashioned reunions, the Golden Globes have been doing our beloved show wrong for years! Game of Thrones has gotten the shaft time and time again! Although the show has been nominated for Best Television Series-Drama every year since 2015, as well as a nod in 2012, it has lost in that category every single time! Blasphemous.

5 Natalie Portman Serves Some Shade

Who knew that Natalie Portman was the Queen Of Subtle Jabs? Because she totally is. Natalie Portman came for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and the Internet is screaming about it.

Natalie was called upon to present the best director award, accompanied by Ron Howard. The Time's Up advocate just couldn't resist the opportunity to take a public dig at Hollywood's complete lack of gender equality, saying, "here are the all-male nominees" as she presented. SLAAAAAAAY QUEEN!

The audience (and the Internet) welcomed the Hollywood dig, as women are sick and tired of being relegated to the sidelines, objectified, and basically used as props in the entertainment industry. There were plenty of women who could have been nominated in that category, including Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) and Dee Rees (Mudbound). Needless to say, the reactions on Twitter were priceless.

4 Reese Witherspoon's Oprah Impression

After winning a best limited series award for Big Little Lies, Reese Witherspoon stepped backstage to take questions from the press with the rest of the cast. After answering questions about season 2, a reporter asked Reese if she had an impression of Oprah Winfrey she could share (and we love him for it).

"Do I have an Oprah impression?" she asked, just before bursting into a Golden Globe inspired "you get a car" speech. "You get a Golden Globe and you get a Golden Globe and you get a Golden Globe," she shouted at reporters.

I guess a night of drinking and winning a Golden Globe will make you giddy like that. Needless to say, the room loved it - and thanks to the power of the Interwebs, we can love it too.

3 Mariah Steals Meryl's Seat

It's no surprise that when Mariah Carey takes the "first seat available," it just happens to be the one right next to the legendary Steven Spielberg. Unfortunately for her, that was Meryl Streep's seat (of course). Oopsies! In what I see as an opportunity to let everyone know that Meryl Freakin' Streep is a fan of hers, Mariah tweeted about the whole ordeal! Lucky for us! What she doesn't say is if she actually gave Meryl Streep her seat back. Girl, you know she didn't! This is Mariah we're talking about! Meryl probably told her she could have her seat anytime, expecting Mariah to laugh and get TF off her chair but it didn't happen like that! Step off, Meryl, and get Mariah a cup of tea!

2 #Hollywood Handmaids

The Handmaid's Tale, based on Margaret Atwood’s novel, won the Golden Globe for Best TV Series-Drama, beating out Game of Thrones and Stranger Things (and making me really want to see it). In the series, society is organized by "power-hungry leaders along a new, militarized, hierarchical regime of fanaticism and newly created social classes, in which women are brutally subjugated, and by law are not allowed to work, own property, handle money, or read."

As you can imagine, the idea of a society that subjugates women really resonates with #MeToo supporters, and a group of women dressed like the handmaids in the show stood outside the Gold Globes holding a sign with the message, "Silent No Longer, #hollywoodhandmaids." Soon, #hollywoodhandmaids began trending on Twitter along with #TIMESUP.

This isn't the first time the #hollywoodhandmaids have shown up in protest, however. Last summer they appeared outside the United States Capitol to protest the defunding of Planned Parenthood.

1 Oprah Delivers

Surprise, surprise, Oprah brought the house down.

During this year's Golden Globe Awards, Oprah became the first black woman to receive the 2018 Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award for "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment." Some previous winners include Walt Disney, Anthony Hopkins, Meryl Streep, and George Clooney.

In a rousing speech, Oprah brought the crowd to their feet.

"For too long women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power of those men. But their time is up," she said, earning cheers from the crowd. "I want all the girls watching here and now to know that a new day is on the horizon! And when that new day finally dawns it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say, 'Me too' again."

There's not much else to say.
