It was public knowledge when Justin and Hailey got engaged in July 2018, but not many people knew Justin had asked permission to do it weeks before it happened. Hailey told Teen Vogue that even though not much about the Biebs is old-fashioned, he did ask her dad (actor Stephen Baldwin) for her hand. Stephen gave him the go-ahead and looked forward to "walking my princess down the aisle."
15 He 'Doesn't Have Any' Bad Habits
Justin and Hailey made their debut as a married couple on the cover of Vogue in February 2019. In a '73 Questions' video accompanying the article, Hailey was asked about Justin's bad habits. She shook her head and said "he doesn't have any." We find this hard to believe about someone who has famously dropped his pants in public (more than once), but Hailey's loyalty is sweet.
14 She Was Never His Biggest Fan
Hailey met Justin when her dad got tickets to one of his appearances on a morning show way back in 2009. Even though she was up for watching him perform, she wasn't wild about him like the Beliebers were. "I was never a superfan, of him or of anyone," Hailey told Vogue. "It was never that crazed, screaming thing."
13 He Has A 'Heart For Other People'
Hailey says her favorite thing about her husband is that he has a "heart for other people." What does she mean by that? She explained to Vogue Australia that Justin's caring and compassionate nature is what draws her to him most. 12 He Lets Her Wear His Socks
Strange but true: Hailey has admitted to raiding Justin's closet and stealing his socks. She slides into his sock drawer on the regular. Why? "I think he has great style," she explained in the 73 Questions video. Why she would choose to take his socks instead of his designer tees and hoodies is beyond us, but you do you, girl.
11 He's More Emotional Than Her
Hailey and Justin both agree that he's the softer one in their relationship. In her own words as reported by E! Online : "He’ll say, 'I feel,' and I’ll say, 'I think. I have to really dive deep and struggle to be in touch with my emotions. He gets there immediately." This balance makes things work between them. 10 They Had A 'Weird Age Gap'
Three years difference doesn't mean much when you're full-grown adults, but Hailey met Justin when she was just a kid. She says him being a teenager when she was only 12 initially stopped them from coupling up. "For the first few years we had a weird age gap. He became my best guy friend. I was running around with him as his homie, but we weren’t hanging out [romantically]."
9 He Wasn't Exclusive At First
When they started dating years ago, Justin's promiscuous behavior on the road broke them up. They both acknowledged his betrayal in their February 2019 Vogue cover interview. "Negative things happened that we still need to talk about and work through,” Hailey explains. "It was a very dramatic excommunication." 8 He Has Wild Nicknames For Her
Baby, baby, baby, no! You aren't ready for what this couple calls each other. Their nicknames are OTT-sweet but not really surprising, considering Justin is extra in pretty much everything he does. While Hailey's IG captions prove that she calls him her "bubba," Justin's been caught calling her "boo boo," "goo goo," "bean," and "my baby boo." Sounds about right.
7 She’s Not In Love With Him Every Day
This isn't something you'd expect a newlywed to say about their spouse, but Hailey did. As she told Vogue Australia: "I’m not going to sit here and lie and say it’s all a magical fantasy. 6 He’s The First Person She’s Ever Lived With (Besides Family)
In that same Vogue Australia interview Hailey went on to call Justin her first non-family roommate. Despite working internationally as a model, she's never really lived with anyone besides her parents before moving in with her man. "I had never lived with someone before," she admitted. "I never had to cohabit with somebody in that way, so I was learning how to share space with someone for the first time."
5 She Makes Him Nervous
Justin's new YouTube docu-series "Seasons" has an entire episode dedicated to his relationship with Hailey. It shows her spending hours supporting him in the recording studio, but Hailey reveals that these studio visits actually make him feel really nervous. Why? "The music is mostly about her," Justin admits. He has no trouble performing for thousands of fans, but singing to the actual subject of his songs is a different story.
4 Marriage To Him Is 'Really Effing Hard'
When Hailey was asked to explain what married life with Justin is like, she had some pretty harsh words. "It's really effing hard," she told Vogue. "That is the sentence you should lead with." When the time came to marry Justin, Hailey says she told her parents to call off the wedding if they thought he wasn't the one. Yahoo News reports that she phoned them and said: "This is the time I need you to stop me from doing something crazy if you think this is a bad idea. Just tell me right now." 1 She Calls Him 'A Walking Miracle'
When Justin's health was spiraling out in late 2018 he decided to pause his career and turn his life around. Hailey was so impressed with his transformation she called him "a walking miracle."
"To do it without a program, and to stick with it without a sober coach or AA or classes - I think it’s extraordinary," she explained to Elle. With support like this, Justin is one lucky hubby.
