The world of Motorsport is incredibly male-dominated. We have seen that a lot more in recent years too. Very rarely do the leading female racers in the world make that leap to the big time, but why exactly is that?

Well, sometimes it is just simply down to not getting the opportunities, something that affects all aspiring racing drivers.

Motorsport is such a clustered world and it requires so much talent, and sadly money, to breakthrough. Some impressive talents have just not found their way through thanks to that block.

Some of the drivers on this list though have made a good career for themselves.

They are some of the most stunning racing drivers out there, whilst also being some of the fastest as well.

I’m sure there are a few of you who already know who might be on this list. Curious? Well, why not read on to see who else has made the cut!

18 Tatiana Calderon

Tatiana is currently a test driver for the Alfa Romeo F1 team competed in F2 for 2019 with BWT Arden.  Her results have not been that strong in F2 as she has struggled to adjust to the car, but she does have a lot of speed under her belt. Where she is for 2020 though is anyone's guess, as she has said it is unlikely to be F2 again.

17 Maryeve Dufault

Born in Canada, Maryeve Dufault has raced in all manner of series over the years including Formula BMW, Formula Renault as well as the NASCAR Xfinity Series. She has not done as much competition recently but has impressed drivers such as Brad Keselowski along the way. Clearly, she has the talent required to make it.

16 Simona De Silvestro

Simona De Silvestro gained fame in the IndyCar series and took a podium finish in Houston back in 2013. More recently, she has been a Formula E and Australian SuperCars racer. She was close to a race seat for Sauber for 2014, before her funding was sadly cut. It was a shame, as she had shown much promise in testing.

15 Susie Wolff

Susie Wolff raced in the DTM for several years, before becoming a test and development driver at Williams F1. She retired from her racing role in 2015. Since then, she has become the team principal of the Venturi Formula E team and guided them to their first win in Hong Kong last season. So she isn't just a fast driver!

14 Jamie Chadwick

Chadwick made history in 2019, by becoming the first champion of the all-female W-Series, against some stiff competition. She now has a Williams F1 team test role and will return to the W-Series this year to try and defend her crown. Chadwick is certainly one to watch for the future. A successful defense of her title will only raise her stock value.

13 Sabine Schmitz

Sabine Schmitz is often referred to as the ‘Queen of the Nurburgring’. She is a very competitive racing driver and has appeared on multiple occasions on BBC’s Top Gear. She is though most famous for her Nurburgring exploits and is considered one the leading experts on the track and she clearly knows it like the back of her hand.

12 Hailie Deegan

Hailie Deegan is one of the most impressive, up and coming young female racers out there. She has been very impressive in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, and in 2018 she secured her first victory in that series. She also won at Meridian Speedway in Idaho, the first female win in a NASCAR touring race since Shawna Robinson. She is now part of the Ford stable for 2020.

11 Courtney Force

Courtney Force is one of the most famous NHRA Drag Racers out there and is the wife of IndyCar race winner Graham Rahal.  In January 2019, she stepped down from competitive driving with immediate effect, ending a very strong career in her sport. Prior to her retirement, she had become one of the leading role models for young female racing drivers.

10 Carmen Jorda

Carmen Jorda isn’t that…popular. She was signed by the Lotus F1 team in 2015 for a simulator role, but many saw she was purely just a marketing ploy for the team. She never drove an F1 car and her results in the junior categories were less than spectacular. Thankfully, she seems to have dropped off the radar for the time being.

9 Ashley Force Hood

Daughter of famous drag racer John Force, Ashley Force Hood has also competed in drag racing herself as well as actually racing against her father. She actually defeated her father in 2008 in the final round at the NHRA Summit Southern Nationals. That alone will have helped inspire many young racers to hopefully take up the sport.

8 Milka Duno

Milka Duno is an interesting driver.  She has raced in a few series including IndyCar and the American Le Mans series, whilst also racing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. What makes her interesting then? Well, she was actually a former fashion model in Venezuela, and she got into the racing side of things pretty late on. Well, we all change career paths at some point.

7 Lelani Munter

Lelani Munter has raced in several series in America, including Indy Lights and the Indy Pro series. She is an environmental activist and has recently competed in the ARCA Menards series. She also earned a degree in biology from the University of California, in San Diego. Given the changing world, perhaps she can inspire people to save the plant, as well as girls to take up racing.

6 Madalena Antas

Born in Portugal, Madalena Antas is most famous for her off-road racing and rallying. This is impressive in such a male-dominated motorsport, perhaps some of the most daunting kinds of motorsport there is. She has been one of the few females to have taken part in the Paris-Dakar rally, which is quite an achievement in itself.

5 Natacha Gachang

A swiss racing driver, and the cousin of Formula E champion Sebastien Buemi, Gachang is one of the most impressive female racers out there. She has competed in everything from Formula BMW to Formula 2, as well as taking part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Her relations to Buemi have not helped her along the way, but getting to where you are through hard work will be a lot more rewarding.

4 Danica Patrick

Danica was obviously going to make this list. Patrick is the only woman to win an IndyCar race. Not only that, she is the only female to lead the Daytona 500, take pole for the race and take pole in NASCAR. She retired from racing in 2018, after taking part in that year's Daytona and Indy 500's. Who knows, maybe she'll do them again one day?

3 Katherine Legge

Legge is one fast driver, and she has recently spent time in the IMSA Weathertech SportsCar series racing Acura GT cars. She has also raced in IndyCar and was an instrumental part of the Delta Wing program before it bowed out a few years ago. Plus, she raced in Formula E for the early part of its initial season in 2014 - 2015.

2 Shannon McIntosh

McIntosh was on the road to IndyCar a few years ago, and whilst she has not got there she has a pretty solid racing record to show for her efforts. She has amassed over 100 combined victories through Quarter Midgets and USAC Midgets. Plus, in 2012, she was the only female racer on the "Road to Indy" program.

1 Claire Jedrek

In her native Singapore, Claire Jedrek is a television personality and a celebrity fitness trainer. But she is so much more than that. She is a very talented racing driver and motorsport commentator. She has raced in the Malaysian Super Series and in 2014 she finished a very strong seventh in the final standings.
