All he needed was a Vauxhall Astra and from then on, Conor McGregor went on to own a collection of cars that you would only dream of. But who is Conor McGregor? Many know him from the Floyd Mayweather fight dubbed ‘The Money Fight’ where he lost – at a profit. I mean, who collects an $85 million paycheck after losing a fight? Many would actually join the fight and allow themselves to be beaten senseless and then take the cash. Well, for his case, he fought but lost and considering it was not his area of dominance – being a two-division mixed martial art (MMA) fighter – and that he gave an undefeated eleven-time five-division boxing world champion a run for his money, then that was remarkable.
And that money somewhat came to justify the MMA fighter’s lifestyle. Many refer to him as ‘Notorious’. It’s a name he loves and it comes out for a reason. The guy is known to be cocky, aggressive in his fights, and not so different in his conferences too. It’s always fun whenever Conor McGregor gets to have an appearance. He is loved and hated in equal measure. Through all his fame and fights, he has amassed money and is said to be worth $99 Million.
Through the cash, we get to understand why he is a serious gearhead. He has an impressive collection of some of the best, pricey cars you will come across and he is never afraid of showing them off. Cars that go for as high as $600,000 to some of the limited editions available are all in his collection. But what makes the fighter go for some select cars? What are those considerations that he has on the choice of cars that he drives? Is there any color preference?
For Conor McGregor, here are 20 rules that he follows whenever he goes to a dealership to get a new ride.
If there is one person who boasts of a huge fleet of Rolls-Royce, then it must be Conor. The UFC Champion has a love for these Goodwood beasts that Henry Royce and Charles Rolls would be proud of.
In his collection, Conor has four Rolls-Royces in his garage! We are talking about more than $2 Million collectively folks! You don’t spend that amount on just any other car. There is a reason for this.
The Rolls-Royce page describes their makes as ‘The Spirit of Ecstasy.’ The marques are classy with some of the hottest features in the interior. From the leather upholstery, the quiet cabin, luxurious spacing, comfortable seats and the enhanced technology fitted inside, this is a dream car to everyone. He owns a custom made Rolls-Royce Ghost, a Phantom VIII Extended Wheelbase, a Dawn and a Phantom Drophead.
Like his love of Rolls-Royce, McGregor is also a student of Ferruccio Lamborghini. We all expected this. For a guy known to be cocky and what some describe as ‘proud’, would it be a surprise that Lamborghinis are part of his collection? No!
Conor owns a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster, Lamborghini Huracan Avio and Lamborghini Aventador. With some of them going for a base price of over $237,250 (Huracan Avio), it is not rocket science that this was another over $600,000 splashed and with such cash and the number of them in his garage, it is not a shock to find McGregor in a dealership getting another Lamborghini. With these Italian supercars, you get speed, class and, with some being convertibles, McGregor has another reason to buy them - he has to get spotted in public!
Conor doesn’t stop from there, he also loves going to Ferruccio fiercest rival, the Maranello based company, Ferrari. What a taste of cars for this guy!
In typical McGregor fashion, after the loss in the Khabib bout, it seems Conor wouldn’t take the fact that the attention turned to his nemesis. In a bid to bring the attention back, he posted a yellow Ferrari on his Instagram page in a bid to show, ‘I go for whatever I want!’
Aside from the yellow Ferrari, according to dupoint registry, McGregor was seen advertising Reebok sneakers in a white Ferrari 458 that goes for a whopping $230,000. Another lavish toy in his huge collection.
One thing we notice in his exotic collection is the love for speed. Almost every marque that the Irish owns is equated with ridiculous speeds. When we talk of a McLaren MP4-12C, we are talking of 212mph, to the Ferrari 458, we are talking of 202mph.
The Lamborghini Huracan Avio will cruise at 201mph, Lamborghini Aventador will take you at 217mph and when we get to BMW i8, we are expecting a speed of 155mph. These are the speeds that will entice the UFC Champion. Maybe we should be expecting a Hennessey Venom GT in his garage soon! He can afford it anyway.
Does it shock you? No! it is a norm that every celeb these days must flex around with almost everything! Being a professional fighter, now this gets a notch higher. See the likes of Mayweather, consider Tyson in the equation, and you get the deal - bragging is part of the game. It is in the fighter’s ‘DNA’. Even if it means disrespecting the brands of cars, as is the case with McGregor.
The collection, to start with, boasts some of the cars we would only dream off from the cost, class, speeds and luxury. That’s one point to him. On to the fact that he takes convertibles, is a half point to this. Let’s see his common postures pictured in the cars, that’s two points. Well, how about modifying his Rolls-Royce Ghost to his name? That’s a knockout!
Amidst all the drama and publicity stunts we equate Conor McGregor to, he is a ‘romantic’ guy. Yes! You heard me right! He is quoted according to Versus saying ‘…when that gold belt is around my waist, when my mother has a big mansion, when my girlfriend has a different car for every day of the week, when my kids’ kids have everything they ever want, then it will pay.’
To the outside, he is still cocky, right? But to Dee Delvin, this has to be the sweetest man and with that, the Lamborghini Aventador on his garage is rumored to be hers. And you know what? Conor coughed up $288,840 for the Italian masterpiece. Lucky is your second name Dee!
When you thought it’s only Dee that is lucky, then you are wrong. Conor is also a family man and he appreciates his family so much. He didn’t have the best upbringing on his way to the top but once he got up there, a certain group of people came up, literally. That’s his family.
He is quoted saying, ‘I love money, and I love movement. I like what it has let me do for my family. I have paid my mum and dad’s mortgage, I’ve bought them two BMWs, they can have anything they want. I am buying a fleet of cars for myself. I have unemployed my sisters, they don’t need to work, don’t need to worry about a thing.’ As Vin Diesel puts it, ‘I don’t have friends, I have family’
When you're worth over $99 Million, with one fight giving you over $86 Million and with cool exotic car endorsements following you, surely $50,000 is just but a drop in the bucket. In his swanky collection, most cars are averaging $200,000 plus. McGregor does not know what is cheap. If you have money, then you gotta use it.
Money is an addiction to Conor, so he claims, and what’s a better way of using your money than making those huge moves? Getting a Rolls-Royce Ghost that costs over $550,000, a Phantom VIII Extended Wheelbase for about $530,000 and more cars that average over $250,000; to put this into perspective, very few cars go for less than $100,000 in his enviable collection.
As earlier stated, in his expensive collection, you are welcomed to many of his convertibles. Well, judging by what we know about Conor, we expected this. The guy is always known for that cocky character and that ‘show-off’ attitude. It’s what we have come to know about him and people love him that way.
So, aside from enjoying the breeze and the sunshine, we get to notice this bearded, tattooed, muscular guy in a noisy Lambo driving at top speeds; which is good anyway. He has a Lamborghini Aventador, Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead, Rolls-Royce Dawn, Bentley, BMW 4 Series and still counting. And these are some of the nicest rides you will ever get. Wow! Just wow!
Well, we know with money, you go for the finest and nicer things that life has to offer. Conor McGregor is no different from this. He’s known for wearing designer sharp fitting suits that go well with his height and body in general.
On to the watch collection, Sun quotes that he owns a collection of about $600,000! If that doesn’t amaze you, then I don’t know what will. See, we are talking about a gold Rolex, Audemars Piguet and Patek Phillipe makes. Does this justify his choice for the car collection? You bet that the Irish fighter look has to be complemented by the classy marques such as Range Rovers, Mercedes Benzes, the Beamers and the Cadillac Escalades that decorate his garage. He won’t match the suits and car literally, but the class will!
Another aspect that the fighters and celebs win is when it gets to customization. People are getting Rolls-Royces and Lamborghinis but what will make you notice that Notorious has passed by if not his ‘Notorious’ Rolls Royce. No celeb wants restrictions on how they can use the swanky car.
There have always been cases such as the Deadmau5 incident, where he was required by Ferrari to pull off the ‘Purrari’ stickers on his Ferrari. Well, for Conor, Rolls Royce had no such restrictions, especially on his black Ghost that is customized with large fonts ‘NOTORIOUS’ and his winning face. What else would feed this man’s ego other than that?
Conor has not just cashed in on Italian supercars and British classy cars, he also has this taste for German machines, which have decorated and complimented his selection. Conor owns a BMW M760, Mercedes Benz S500 Coupe, BMW i8, Mercedes S-Class and a BMW 4 Series he bought for his mum.
German machines have been known for the performances they boast. When you hear Mercedes Benz, you equate it to class, luxury and high performance. On to the Beamers, they are not so different from the aforementioned. On the prices, they will not rival the Italian machines but again, like the cars he owns, you have to part with $100,000 plus. When it gets to those serious meetings, Conor knows what to cruise on. Oh! Plus, the watches and suits!
It goes without saying that everyone wants to stand out, even those that are not close to the levels of McGregor. And of course, it's no different for him. When it gets to his collection, he has some of the best limited editions, such as the McLaren MP4-12C, which went for $250,000 in 2012. It shows that with the inflation rates at this present time, the car would hit $350,000 plus. There are claims that Tag Heuer made a limited 1,000 units and that means that Conor was one lucky owner.
On to the Lamborghini Huracan Avio, things get interesting. Top speed claims that there were only 250 units produced and once again, he got to have a touch of it.
We are used to seeing celebs have their own color preference for their rides. How many times have we seen the pink rides in the Kardashians' collection, Paris Hilton, Amber Rose or the white in Mayweather’s collection? That does not come into play with Conor McGregor, however.
His cars do not have a standard color. He seems to pay less attention to the cars actually. He doesn’t go for the Chromes and the Gold colors. His cars come with the factory color and no car has been taken for a paint job – well, maybe the ‘NOTORIOUS’ one. His cars have different colors ranging from the normal white, black, silver, green and jungle green. Pretty normal, this one!
We have heard of Mayweather and Tyson stories where they would do something that seems unrealistic before and after an actual fight. Mayweather is known for these stunts where before and after a fight, he adds an exotic car to his garage.
Conor is no different, pulling the same stunt with the most notable being the Jose Aldo fight when he treated himself to a BMW i8 and Mercedes S-Class worth $450,000. He knocked him out in 13 seconds and, according to Fox Sports, he went ahead to treat himself to a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead that goes for a price of over $500,000. Who else would value 13 seconds of a fight with $500,000 if not Mr. McGregor himself?
This shouldn’t come as a surprise as it is the case for many celebrities. From the music videos, movies and trips, many cars have been rented. This is not to say that Conor cannot afford the cars. With his worth being over $99 Million, we all know that he can afford them. However, Conor turned to his famous ‘Notorious’ mode and stood on the bonnet of a rented Rolls-Royce Wraith and the owners of the rental firm sued him.
According to Sun, the company was quoted saying, 'He is stood on the car acting like it is his own. It is not his own.’ He has also rented others like Porsche 911, Bentley Continental and a Mercedes G-Wagon.
John Kavanagh was quoted once saying, ‘It sounds weird but he doesn’t spend much money; everything he wears he’s paid to wear; everything he drives is given to him...’ Well, what he failed to say was that many companies would love advertisements through Conor, considering he’s a big brand, whether it be through watches, suits or even the cars.
A classic example is the Lamborghini Huracan Avio, which Conor partnered with. This is business and he gets paid for it. It is not clear if he owned one but we believe he did. I mean, he is Conor McGregor!
We all have that childhood memory we hold dear, maybe that toy car you had and you have it still. Despite Conor being this filthy rich guy, he used to cruise on a Vauxhall Astra before he reached the stardom he is in right now. He doesn’t despise it and, in My vehicle, he said, ‘I used to have a car years ago, it was my first car, it was an Opel Astra or a Volkswagen Astra they’re probably called over here. And the thing, it was my pride and joy.’
He proceeds to say he isn’t in a relationship with any other ‘machine’ and that he ‘…rolls in, have a little buzz, take a few pictures, get couple million likes and then get out of there. No relationship, no strings attached with the damn machine.’
How nice it would be for every person to buy a car for every city he visits? You want to go to London? Buy a Range Rover. You want to visit Liverpool? Go with a Mercedes Benz. How about going to Manchester with a Ferrari?
Like the buying of a car before and after a fight, Conor also got a ‘Bentley’ purposely for cruising through the streets of California! Talk about living the good life. According to Seat Covers, he went ahead to post on Twitter, ‘Got the drop top Bentley for Cali.’ Oh! The Bentley is a convertible so you know where we're heading to…
It’s evident from this piece that the word ‘Notorious’ perfectly fits him. McGregor does not want anything restricting him in his rides. He wants to have the car to his own and nothing else. From having the ‘NOTORIOUS’ Rolls Royce to having his feet on the dashboard, back seats and on the windows, standing on the bonnet of Rolls Royce Wraith, sitting on the bonnet of a Porsche 911, buying cars before and after fights to renting cars that he owns in his garage.
You cannot simply deny this man what he wants. That’s Conor McGregor for you. Notorious.
