Being hosts of two incredible car shows, you’d think Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May would have impeccable taste in cars, and you’d be right. Jeremy owns a sweet McLaren 675LT.
Motor 1 reports, “Shortly after the ink dried on The Grand Tour contract with Amazon, a brand-new McLaren 675 LT was delivered to Clarkson's home. Let's hope it wasn't still inside when Hammond and May blew up his house in the third episode of TGT's first season.”
Hammond drives the Jaguar E-Type. He bought this British icon for his 40th birthday. Powered by a 5.3 L Jaguar V12 engine, this car produces 251 brake horsepower and can go from standstill to 60 miles per hour in 6.8 seconds while May has been seen in a 458 Speciale.
“The nickname 'Captain Slow' is also perfectly suited to May's behavior when Hammond tried to buy a Ferrari 458 Speciale. He thought about it so much that availability ended as soon as May decided to hit the dealership. Ultimately he managed to buy one.” states Motor 1.
Here are the 20 sickest cars owned by Top Gear’s Clarkson, Hammond and May.
20 Clarkson: Alfa Romeo GTV6
Jeremy’s garage includes an Alfa Romeo GTV6. Motor 1 reports, “It was also the same car used in Scotland during The Grand Tour's third season, and though it started as a typical road trip adventure, the experience for Clarkson didn't end when the cameras stopped. In that episode, he said "generally when we finish these jobs these cars end up . . . I don't know where. But I know where this will end up: at my house.”
19 May: Ferrari F430
Inside James May’s garage, you’ll find a Ferrari F430. Motor 1 reports, “In his early years at Top Gear, May never hid his dream of owning a Ferrari and he was delighted to eventually get his hands on a brand new F430. May called it ‘magic,' enhancing the power, speed, and simplicity of driving.”
18 Hammond: Dodge Challenger SRT-8
The Dodge Challenger SRT-8 is a car Richard Hammond absolutely loves.
Motor 1 reports, “Do you remember the episode of Top Gear where the hosts went to the United States? Clarkson had a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1; May drove a Cadillac CTS-V, and Hammond was behind the wheel of a Dodge Challenger SRT. Rather than being a rental or press car, the Hammond actually bought the Challenger SRT. This wasn't the modern Hellcat or 392, though. It packed a 6.1-liter V8 making 425 horsepower (317 kilowatts)."
17 Clarkson: Aston Martin Virage
Motor 1 states, “Larger than the Vantage and DB9, the Virage could actually be the ideal Aston Martin for the ‘burly' Jeremy Clarkson. It should be no surprise that he's owned one, considering his passion for Aston Martin and the large V12 nestled under the hood.” The Virage also features as one of the cars Clarkson hides in his garage.
16 May: Ferrari 458 Speciale
“The nickname 'Captain Slow' is also perfectly suited to his behavior when he tried to buy a Ferrari 458 Speciale. He thought about it so much that availability ended as soon as May decided to hit the dealership. Ultimately he managed to buy one.” states Motor 1. The 458 Speciale also features as one of the cars May hides in his garage.
15 Hammond: Jaguar E-Type
Another of Hammond’s favorites, and one that resides in his garage, is the Jaguar E-Type. He bought this British icon for his 40th birthday. Powered by a 5.3 L Jaguar V12 engine, this car produces 251 brake horsepower and can go from standstill to 60 miles per hour in 6.8 seconds.
14 Clarkson: BMW M3 CSL
Jeremy’s garage also includes a BMW M3 CSL. Motor 1 reports, “The ultimate expression of BMW." These are the words Jeremy Clarkson used to describe this iteration of the iconic M3, specifically the CSL. Of course, the location certainly helped – he drove it for the first time on Top Gear at the Isle of Man where there were no speed limits.”
13 May: Fiat Panda
Inside James May’s garage, you’d find a Fiat Panda, that’s until a few years ago. Motor 1 reports, “It's a very precious car for May, not unlike the various Porsches or Ferraris in his garage and that's no joke. Captain Slow drove the little Fiat for many years until 2014, when the mechanical bits gave up the ghost.”
12 Hammond: Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder
The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder is a car Richard Hammond absolutely loves. “Hammond's salary definitely covers the cost. He has owned Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder packing a 5.2-liter V10 making 552 horsepower (412 kilowatts) and running through an all-wheel-drive system. It was quite a way to enjoy roof-down motoring.” Motor 1 reports.
11 Clarkson: Ford GT
Motor 1 states, “It looked like the perfect machine, but as Clarkson learned early on in his Top Gear run, driving your heroes isn't the same as owning one. He bought a first-generation Ford GT but soon discovered it was too wide for British roads, too thirsty for fuel, and it was plagued with electrical problems that ultimately led to him selling the car.” The GT also features as one of the cars Clarkson has hidden in his garage in the past.
10 May: BMW i3
“Unlike Jeremy Clarkson, James May has a fondness for electric cars. In fact, one of his everyday vehicles is a BMW i3 that replaced his beloved Fiat Panda.” states Motor 1. The i3 also features as one of the cars May hides in his garage. It is powered by a BMW W20K06U0 25 kW (33 bhp) 647 cc, Straight-two generator (optional) with a fuel tank capacity of 9L engine.
9 Hammond: Land Rover Defender 110
Another of Hammond’s favorites, and one that resides in his garage, is the Land Rover Defender 110. “Apparently, one Land Rover wasn't enough for Hammond because he had a Defender 110, in addition to the old Range Rover. He overhauled the rugged SUV with a revised suspension, the rear axle from a Land Rover Discovery, and a roll cage,” says Motor 1.
8 Clarkson: McLaren 675LT
Jeremy’s garage includes a McLaren 675LT.
7 May: 1984 Porsche 911
Inside James May’s garage, you’ll also find a 1984 Porsche 911. Motor 1 reports, “James May has owned several Porsches, but one that gave him the most satisfaction was a classic air-cooled 911 Carrera from 1984. May has repeatedly stated that this was 'the best car I've ever bought.'”
6 Hammond: Morgan Aeromax
The Morgan Aeromax is a car Richard Hammond absolutely loves. “Given his love of England's automotive heritage, it was only natural that a Morgan eventually found a space in his garage. Clarkson made fun of Hammond's Aeromax for looking crosseyed, but the Hamster clearly enjoyed its BMW-sourced V8 powertrain.” Motor 1 reports.
5 Clarkson: Mercedes CLK 63 AMG Black Series
Motor 1 states, “Perhaps the personal car Clarkson talked about most often was his Mercedes CLK 63 AMG Black Series. He seemed to consistently praise the mad, tire-smoking machine despite its frequent battery problems. In a tweet he announced his sale of the car, saying 'This is a sad day. I just sold my black AMG.'”
The CLK 63 AMG Black Series also features as one of the cars Clarkson has hid in his garage in the past, as probably one of his favorites.
4 May: 1972 Rolls-Royce Corniche
You’d also find a 1972 Corniche in James’ garage, but unfortunately, Telegraph reports, “James May has decided to sell his beloved Rolls-Royce following an unfortunate discovery – that he's allergic to its leather seats. The Top Gear and Grand Tour star has been aware that his 1972 Corniche has made him itchy since at least 2010, when he wrote that he has 'a very thorough shower' after driving it.”
3 Hammond: Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Another of Hammond’s favorites, and one that resides in his garage, is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Motor 1 adds, “Hammond has owned several Porsches including a 1982 911 SC, 1994 928, 2006 997-generation 911 Carrera S, and 2016 911 GT3. The latest one to spend time in his garage was a 911 GT3 RS.”
2 Clarkson: Range Rover TDV8 Vogue SE
Jeremy’s garage also includes a Range Rover TDV8 Vogue SE. Clarkson is on record – on his Sunday Times column – stating that this car is "the best car in the world and best 4x4." This 5-door sports utility vehicle is a full-size luxury SUV with a front engine and four-wheel drive layout.
1 May: Saab 9-5 Aero
Inside James May’s garage, you’ll find a Saab 9-5 Aero. Motor 1 reports, “The Saab 9-5 Aero has for years been a rival to German luxury sedans like the BMW 5 Series, the Mercedes E-Class, and the Audi A6. The Aero was the most powerful version with a turbocharged 260-horsepower engine, and it was quite practical as well.”
