20 Thanos Memes That Are Hilariously Accurate

Over the past eleven years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced countless menacing adversaries for Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Several of these villains threatened to take over the planet or cause chaos across the cosmos, but none were quite as intimidating or formidable as Thanos, the Mad Titan.

Thanos waited years to make his move against the Avengers, and when he finally showed his purple face, he proved to be too much for our beloved heroes to handle. He successfully gathered all of the Infinity Stones in his Gauntlet, and eliminated half of all existence with a mere snap of his fingers. The remaining Avengers managed to vanquish two different versions of Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, but their victory came at the cost of several of their own.

Even now that the Mad Titan is officially gone and the MCU is moving on from the Infinity Saga which began at the very start of the franchise's Phase 1, fans still can't stop making hilarious memes about Thanos. Enjoy some of the Internet's finest—laughter is, as Thanos would say, "inevitable."

20 NOT QUITE WHAT WE WERE EXPECTING

via: twitter.com

Everyone who has ever ordered something online has experienced the shock when that item finally arrives in the mail and turns out to look nothing like what was advertised. That feeling is basically what we felt when Thanos showed up in Infinity War barely resembling the mysterious villain first seen in 2012's Avengers.

Suddenly, Thanos had a much lighter skin color, his facial features were different, and he abandoned his really cool helmet.

19 FEEL OLD YET?

via: geeksoncoffee.com

Several years ago, people filled the Internet with hilarious and totally relatable memes featuring Success Kid, an adorable little boy who clenched his fist in a clear display of victory. Like all memes, however, these faded into obscurity as they were replaced with new ones, and Success Kid became a distant memory.

Well, we may have found what he looks like now, and it definitely has us feeling old! That cute toddler is all grown up, and now he clenches his fist while wearing a nearly-complete Infinity Gauntlet.

18 ASSEMBLE THE INFINITY DONUTS

via: pinterest.com

When Thanos wore his battle armor in the Avengers end credit scene and in Guardians of the Galaxy, fans approved of his menacing, fairly comic book-accurate look. Once he took his helmet off in Infinity War, however, viewers noticed that he looked a lot like a completely different—but still oddly familiar—character.

The Mad Titan bore a striking resemblance to The Simpson's Homer Simpson, and many fans assumed that his big quest in the film was actually to assemble the Infinity  Donuts, not the Infinity Stones. D'oh!

17 IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE HALLOWEEN SEASON

via: pinterest.com

Halloween is quickly approaching, and while many people are waiting until the middle of October to work on their costumes and buy their decorations, some started planning for the holiday back at the beginning of September. Sadly, these extreme Halloween enthusiasts are often made fun of for being too obsessed with the spookiest day of the year.

For some reason, Christmas shoppers who buy presents and decorations in November don't receive the same treatment, and are often actually praised for not waiting until the last minute. It's just not fair! Like Thanos said, "reality is often disappointing."

16 THE GREATEST TEST OF STRENGTH

via: reddit.com

When Thanos stripped Vision of the Mind Stone and finally completed his Infinity Gauntlet, a surge of energy coursed through his body. The Mad Titan seemed to be in extreme pain as he adjusted to his newfound cosmic power, and while we'll never know what it's like to wield a weapon capable of instantly eliminating half of the universe, we all have experience that level of agony before.

He totally looked just like we do when we try carrying dozens of bags of groceries from our cars to our homes because we're too lazy to take multiple trips.

15 THANOS AND EXODIA

via: pinterest.com

Infinity War and Endgame didn't even bother squaring the Avengers off against Thanos when he had the complete Infinity Gauntlet, because such a battle would be completely impossible for the heroes to win. He had complete control over time, space, mind, soul, power and reality, and thus couldn't be defeated so long as that glove remained on his hand.

He was basically as overpowered as Yugi when he summoned Exodia the Forbidden One in Yu-Gi-Oh! Forget the Infinity Stones, in this epic fan-art, Thanos just assembled Yugi's dueling deck.

14 THANOS WAS SUCH A LIAR

via: pinterest.com

When Ultron failed to take out the Avengers and clear Thanos' path towards claiming all of Earth's Infinity Stones in Age of Ultron, the Mad Titan appeared onscreen to promise that he'd eliminate the mighty heroes himself. Viewers expected him to jump into action shortly after, but he just sat around on his space throne for another three years before actually doing anything.

He was basically the guy from the Distracted Boyfriend meme, except his big distraction from his plans of action was simple laziness.

13 THANK YOU, THANOS

via: pinterest.com

When Denny's customers donate to the No Kid Hungry charity, they're able to write their name down on a special piece of paper which lets the world know of their generosity. In this hilarious image, someone seemingly donated on Thanos' behalf, so the world could know that he helped end childhood hunger.

Many fans label Thanos a "villain," but his plan to wipe out half of existence likely did help reduce hunger across the universe since there became fewer people to compete for food. Thanks, Thanos.

12 WORST TIMING EVER

via: pinterest.com

After Age of Ultron, Thanos started making plans to invade Earth and take the Infinity Stones that were hidden away there. This would have forced him to face off against the Avengers, and without any Infinity Stones to help him, such a battle could prove difficult for even the mighty Titan.

Luckily for Thanos though, Earth's Mightiest Heroes broke into a Civil War that did most of the work for him. The fight between Iron Man and Captain America split the team in half, making Thanos' victory over them far more manageable.

11 DUAL IDENTITIES

via: pinterest.com

Shortly after Josh Brolin appeared in Avengers: Infinity War as iconic Marvel villain Thanos, he appeared in Fox's Deadpool 2 as time-traveling mutant superhero Cable. Several MCU actors have portrayed other comic book heroes in the past, but it was pretty surreal for an actor to play two major Marvel characters in the span of a few weeks.

It definitely would have been funny if one of the Avengers tried to contact Cable for help against Thanos, only to hear a phone ringing from the Mad Titan's pocket since Brolin was both characters.

10 SORRY, GAMORA

via: pinterest.com

Here's another hilarious Distracted Boyfriend Thanos meme, except this time, it's more Distracted Dad. When he reunited with his "daughter" in Infinity War, Thanos was given an opportunity to make up for his poor parenting in the past and finally fix his relationship with Gamora. Despite her insistence otherwise, Thanos did genuinely love Gamora, and tried to do right by her.

Then he learned that the only way to get the Soul Stone was to throw Gamora off a cliff. Suddenly, he forgot all about trying to be a loving father and focused on his bigger goal of completing the Infinity Gauntlet.

9 PART OF A PERFECTLY BALANCED BREAKFAST

via: pinterest.com

Even though Thanos' finger snap helped with overpopulation issues across the galaxy, no one would call what he did "heroic." He's definitely not going to be featured on the front of a Wheaties box any time soon after ending so many lives, but he does meet one requirement for the beloved cereal!

Wheaties prides themselves on being part of a well-balanced breakfast, and as we all know, Thanos cares a lot about everything being "perfectly balanced."

8 WE'VE ALL BEEN THERE

via: tumblr.com

School is back in session, and unfortunately, many teachers are already administering incredibly difficult tests that are nearly impossible to ace. Some of these strict teachers can be convinced to use a grading curve to make passing their courses a bit easier, but asking them for such help can be really embarrassing.

These judgmental educators can send their pupils on a guilt trip over their failures just like Thanos made fun of the Avengers for crossing paths with him again in an attempt to correct their Infinity War failures.

7 STAY OUT OF THANOS' SWAMP

via: me. me

Infinity War set Thanos up as a slightly power-hungry, exceptionally dangerous adversary for Earth's Mightiest Heroes, but when we saw him again at the start of Endgame, he seemed like an entirely different person.

The Mad Titan was completely at peace after succeeding in his mission to snap billions of lives away, and appeared to be perfectly happy with his boring, solitary day-to-day life on a farm. He looked a lot like Shrek, who wanted nothing more than to be left alone on his swamp.

6 THANOS IS NO MATCH FOR SCOOBY

via: reddit.com

In Avengers: Endgame, nearly all of the MCU's greatest heroes got their chance to take down Thanos before he was able to complete his Gauntlet and snap his fingers. Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Thor and Spider-Man all had their shots, but none of them proved capable of stopping the Mad Titan.

That was all before Thanos got all six Stones. With the fully assembled Gauntlet, he's basically unbeatable... but according to this meme, Reddit fans think that he's still no match for Scooby Doo when he's eaten a Scooby snack.

5 ALTERING REALITY

via: reddit.com

There's nothing more disheartening than having to finish a cool story with "I guess you had to be there" because your friends failed to react appropriately to the most interesting or hilarious details. That's why so many people feel the need to add a few embellishments, to spice the story up a bit.

Sure, this turns the story into a bit of a lie, but no one needs to know that. Just pretend you're Thanos with the Reality Stone, and reality can be whatever you want.

4 STAY AWAY FROM OUR FAVORITE HEROES

via: knowyourmeme.com

When Marvel first announced plans for an Infinity War crossover film, comic book fans knew exactly what was coming. Thanos wipes out half of all existence in the comic storyline of the same name, so it was all but assured that he'd pull off the same shocking victory in the film adaptation.

Just because we knew it was coming doesn't mean we didn't pray for our favorite Avengers' safety, though. Everyone hoped to protect heroes like Spidey and Captain America, but sadly, half of our favorites still got snapped into dust.

3 THANOS IS CLEARLY PART-GRAPE

via: youtube.com

Avengers: Infinity War brought together all of Earth's Mightiest Heroes (well, except Hawkeye for some reason), the Guardians of the Galaxy and several other heroes who hadn't yet worked with the Avengers like Doctor Strange, Okoye and Shuri. It seems impossible that a villain could defeat the combined forces of all of these powerful protagonists, but Thanos somehow pulled it off.

The Mad Titan's victory is made all the more impressive by the fact that he's basically just a very angry grape.

2 CONGRATS ON THE GLOW UP, THANOS

via: pinterest.com

When Thanos first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2012's Avengers, he had very dark purple skin. His skin tone didn't change in his Guardians of the Galaxy or Age of Ultron appearances, but when it came time for the Mad Titan to step into the spotlight and finally take on our favorite heroes in Infinity War, he suddenly looked completely different.

His new pigmentation has us wondering if this meme is right about Thanos using Fairness Cream to lighten and brighten his complexion.

1 THE ONLY GAME THE MAD TITAN LIKES PLAYING

via: knowyourmeme.com

Even though Thanos promised in Age of Ultron to get to work on taking down the Avengers himself, it took him several years to finally do so. Fans are wondering what he could have been up to in the meantime, and it's possible that the Mad Titan passed the time the same way we all do—by playing games!

Thanos wouldn't have played the board game Life, though. It's more likely that he opted to play Half-Life instead, since that game is more "perfectly balanced."
