Yara and Jovi first appeared on the reality show franchise during season 8 of 90 Day Fiancé. Fans first met the couple when Yara moved from Ukraine to New Orleans to be with Jovi. From the time Yara got to the states to the time they got married, their relationship was a huge rollercoaster – as with most couples on the show. Jovi and Yara got married with 44 days left on Yara's K-1 visa, so they didn't go through the whole 90 days before getting married like many of the show's other couples.

They went through a lot of hard times within those two months—Yara got pregnant, Jovi had to go away for work, and there were a few big arguments over Jovi's behavior. But despite all of this, the couple still got married and chose a Vegas wedding to kick off their marriage. Here is everything we know about Yara and Jovi's wedding.

6 Yara’s K-1 Visa And Jovi’s Job Made It Harder For Them To Get Married

Like many of the franchise’s other couples, Yara moved to the U.S. on a K-1 visa and she had to marry Jovi within 90 days if she wanted to stay in the country with him. That’s already a lot of pressure for any couple. But on top of that, Yara found out she was pregnant a few weeks after she got to the U.S. and then Jovi had to go out of town for his job soon after they found out. With everything that was going on in their lives, they decided the best thing for them to do was get married as soon as they could.

5 Vegas Was The Easiest And Best Way For The Couple To Tie The Knot

Whenever a couple wants to get married quickly and doesn’t want to (or doesn’t have the time to) plan a big wedding, they go to Las Vegas. Vegas is known as the “Marriage Capital of the World” since it’s so easy to get married there. They have tons of places where you can get married within minutes and you don’t really need to plan anything. The best part is you can have an Elvis impersonator officiate your wedding too, which is what Yara and Jovi decided to do. They had a small ceremony in one of the chapels in Vegas and had an Elvis impersonator sing while they got married. A Vegas wedding was the best way for them to get married since they didn’t want to wait too long and didn’t want a big wedding without Yara’s family.

4 Yara Had To Have A Sparkly Wedding Dress

While the couple was planning for their Vegas wedding, Yara went dress shopping with Jovi’s mom, Gwen. Gwen was skeptical of Yara’s intentions at first, but after Gwen got to know her, she was completely supportive of her being with her son. She tries to support Yara as much as she can since her family isn’t with her. She even helped her pick out her wedding dress, which had to be a dress that fit a Vegas wedding. She chose a long-sleeve sparkly dress that clung to every curve on her body. When Yara was trying on her wedding dress, Gwen said, “That’s Vegas-y. I think it’s… the slit’s too high, but it’s a pretty dress. It fits you very well.” Gwen wasn’t sure about Yara wearing a tight dress at first, but she supported her decision to get the dress she wanted and it ended up being the perfect one for a Vegas wedding.

3 Jovi’s Mom Almost Wasn’t Invited To The Wedding

Although Yara and Jovi’s wedding was small, it was supposed to be even smaller at first. “Yara originally wanted a small, intimate wedding with just her and Jovi because her family in Ukraine wouldn't be able to attend. Eventually, the wedding party grew and Jovi's parents and some friends joined in on the trip to Las Vegas,” according to TLC. When Yara went wedding dress shopping with Gwen, she saw how upset Gwen was about not being able to see her son get married. She didn’t want to hurt Gwen, so she changed her mind and invited her and her husband to the wedding. Yara wasn’t really happy about Jovi’s friends coming, but they did anyway.

2 Jovi And Yara Fought Over His Bachelor Party Right Before The Wedding

The night before Jovi and Yara left for Vegas, Jovi went out for his bachelor party. He went out drinking with his friends and they ended up going to a strip club. Yara told Jovi not to stay out late and get really drunk because they had to get up early in the morning, but he still did. Jovi told the show’s producers, "This is my local hangout. I used to come here six or seven nights a week. And it feels good to be back, but I promised Yara that I would be good, that I would go home early. Who goes home at 11 o'clock? What fun is that for a bachelor party? Come on. I think it's okay if I'm a few minutes late." Right before they got married they had a big argument over Jovi’s behavior at his bachelor party. Yara didn’t even know everything that happened at the party yet, but she was still upset that he stayed out late and didn’t listen to her, especially since she wasn’t feeling well on top of it. Yara was barely talking to Jovi when they were going to Vegas, but once they got to the wedding, Yara calmed down and they both seemed happy to be marrying each other.

1 The Couple Is Still Together Today And Seem To Be Living A Happy Life With Their Baby Girl

Despite all of the arguments and hard times, Yara and Jovi are still married today. They got married on February 14, 2020, so they are about to celebrate their two-year anniversary next year. They’ve gone through a lot since their wedding—they welcomed their daughter, Mylah, Yara got the coronavirus, Jovi couldn’t come home for months because of the pandemic, and they’ve had a few big arguments over Jovi’s behavior. When Jovi finally came home from work, he was still partying and drinking a lot and wasn’t helping Yara with their baby as much as he should’ve been. But they got through those hard times and seem to be doing better now. During an episode of 90 Day Fiancé, Yara said, “With Jovi, nothing is easy, and nothing is perfect. And even though I want Jovi to be a better husband, I still want him to be my husband.”
