Unbridled Talent

Born in Charlemagne, Quebec, Celine Dion was the youngest of her parent’s 14 children. Given that Dion’s folks had so many kids to contend with, it seems safe to assume that Celine was looking for a way to garner attention. Seemingly aware that singing was her future at a very young age, Celine showed off her voice in public for the first time at 5-years-old when she performed at her brother’s wedding. From there, Dion never looked back as she began performing with her siblings.

After Celine Dion recorded a song with her mother at 12-years-old, her brother sent it to a music manager whose name he found on the back of a record. Said to have shed tears when he heard Dion’s voice, René Angélil agreed to become her manager and he mortgaged his home so she could record her first album, “La voix du bon Dieu”. Instantly a hit in her local area, the album spread to other areas of the world before long, especially in France where she won awards and the album went gold.

Realizing Celine Dion’s potential even at that early age, her manager René Angélil had her learn English, get dental surgery, and polish her image. An effort to make her more marketable that paid off hugely, in 1990 Dion released her first English album, “Unison”, which went 7 x Platinum in Canada and Platinum in America. Only a small taste of the mammoth success Dion would go on to enjoy, her next several albums charted in so many countries that they can’t be listed here.

Becoming An Absolute Legend

By the time 1996 came to an end, Celine Dion had released 10 French-language albums and another 4 that were recorded in English. In terms of hit singles, by then Dion was known for songs like “The Power of Love”, “It's All Coming Back To Me Now”, “Because You Loved Me”, “Think Twice”, and “All By Myself” among others. Given that incredible record of success, it is simply mindblowing to realize that Dion’s biggest song hadn’t even been released at that point.

Released in 1997, “My Heart Will Go On” served as the main theme song for the movie Titanic, a film that went on to become the highest-grossing in history at that point. An international hit that topped the charts in 20 different countries, “My Heart Will Go On” won awards at the Oscars, Grammys, and the Golden Globes. In fact, the song was such a big deal back then that it often seemed like you couldn’t enter a grocery store without hearing it over the PA at least once.

Even though Celine Dion has never recreated the overwhelming success of “My Heart Will Go On”, she has continued to accomplish amazing things ever since. For example, since 1998 she has released several songs that have passed the test of time including “I’m Alive”, “Ashes”, and “That's the Way It Is”. If all of that wasn’t financially rewarding enough, from 2003 until 2007 she performed A New Day... on the Las Vegas Strip, the highest-grossing concert residency of all-time.

Given the fact that Celine Dion has owned so many homes and that most wealthy people love to travel, it isn’t surprising that she decided to buy a private jet.
