9 Paris Hilton And Nicole Richie Have Known Each Other Since They Were Kids

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie have a lot in common. Apart from being raised in wealthy families — Hilton is the heir to the Hilton Hotels fortune, and Richie is the daughter of musician Lionel Richie — they had also attended the same school and lived close to each other. That's why it shouldn't come as a surprise that the two quickly bonded and became BFFs.

8 Their 'Best Friends Forever' Phase Lasted For Many Years

Paris and Nicole's bond became so strong that they did almost everything together. The two even considered themselves partners in crime. "When we were little, our parents always wanted to separate us. And I remember, word for word, them saying it's not that it's me and not that it's her. It was the two of us together," said Nicole of her long-lasting friendship with Paris, when talking to Harper's Bazaar. But little did they know that nothing lasts forever, not even their friendship.

7 They Were Also The Main It-Girls Of The 2000s

From playing together as two-year-olds to partying together as teens — these two really did it all. In the 2000s Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie became the main It-girls of Hollywood. They were famous for being famous and everywhere they'd go they were followed by a swarm of paparazzi.

The series follows Paris and Nicole as they leave their privileged lives in Beverly Hills and move in with middle-class families in small rural places — and they also have to get regular low-paying jobs. With 13 million viewers tuning in to see the premiere, the show was considered a success. But it was also the beginning of the end of their friendship.

5 Their Feud Began After Paris Hosted An Episode Of 'Saturday Night Live'

Back in 2005 Paris Hilton was invited to host Saturday Night Live, which is a pretty big thing for somebody who had just started their television career. But this is also when Paris and Nicole had a falling out. Rumor has it that Nicole Richie was jealous of Paris hosting SNL and not being invited herself, so she allegedly did something that majorly pissed Paris off.

4 Apparently, Nicole Showed Paris' Leaked Home VIdeo At A Party

According to numerous magazines, including the People magazine, Nicole Richie threw a party on the same day Paris was hosting SNL and after the episode had aired, Nicole screened Paris's leaked (adult) home video for the attendees. The rumor was never officially confirmed, but Paris did release a statement saying, "It’s no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends," Nicole knows what she did, and that’s all I’m ever going to say about it."

3 The Two Socialites Made Up During Season 5 Of The Simple Life

After a few years of not talking and avoiding each other at red carpets and other Hollywood events, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie finally made up. It all happened on The Simple Life, during season five's premiere. "I don’t even know why we’re fighting. I think it’s just the tabloids," Paris said to Nicole. "I just want to let you know half the things that the tabloids said that I said were not true," replied Nicole.

2 But Paris Still Didn't Attend Nicole's Wedding

In December 2010 Nicole got married to musician Joel Madden and, because Paris was absent, rumors began swirling that the two are still on bad terms. But according to a source close to Paris, the heiress was invited to the wedding but she couldn't make it due to a scheduling conflict. "This was planned months ago. Paris sent Nicole and Joel a wedding gift to congratulate them and wishes them both the best," a source told E! News.

1 They've Only Had Nice Words About Each Other Since Then

Ever since their reconciliation Paris and Nicole have been on good terms — they're not besties anymore, but they're not enemies either. "Paris is somebody that's been in my life since day one," said Richie on Watch What Happens Live in 2014. "I haven't spoken to her in a while technically, but, if you really want to get into it, my view of a friendship is someone that you don't necessarily have to talk to you every day".
