Sadly, Halyna Hutchins passing on the set of 'Rust' wasn't the first time such a tragedy took place. Hutchins wasn't ready to leave this world and at the moment, fans are pointing the finger at several people, calling it a tragedy that could've been avoided.

Who knows if 'Rust' is to continue in the future but for the time being, that is far from anyone's concern. However, when looking back at a similar situation, it comes as a surprise that the film continued on with reshoots only two months after a tragic passing to a pivotal character. Not only that but the film was boosted by another $8 million to finish it off.

Not only did the film turn into a massive success at the box office, but it would release other sequels in the future, along with rumors of rebooting the films into a series.

Nonetheless, despite the success, a life was lost and fans will never forget it.

'The Crow' Was A Huge Success Financially

At the box office, 'The Crow' turned out to be a huge success, bringing in almost $100 million. Not only that but other renditions of the film would be made after its 1994 release, including the 1996 film, 'The Crow: City of Angels' along with the 2000 film, 'The Crow: Salvation'. There are also rumors swirling around of a possible reboot, this time in the form of a series.

Despite the box office success from the first film, the budget for it was a tiny one, and it would lead to various difficulties on-set, including a difficult filming environment. According to Flickering Myth, Brandon Lee suffered greatly from the conditions and was almost reduced to skin and bones.

''He lost 20 pounds after getting the role, and he didn’t have a lot to lose,” says O’Barr. “I could lift him up with one arm, he was so thin. There was absolutely no fat on him whatever. He was just completely streamlined.” Lee’s manager stated.

Sadly, Brandon would be involved in a terrible accident during the filming that cost him his life.

Brandon Lee Died On-Set After An Explosive Charge Went Off

In what was a true tragedy, Brandon Lee passed away on the set of the film due to an explosion accidentally going off. According to the LA Times, the incident featured ''a small explosive charge used to simulate gunfire went off inside a grocery bag during filming on a movie set in Wilmington, N.C.''

According to the police report, the explosion wasn't supposed to go off at the time that it did, “When the other actor fired a shot, the explosive charge went off inside the bag,” said Wilmington police Officer Michael Overton. “After that, we don’t know what happened.”

Two months after the passing, the studio decided to renew the film, with an extra $8 million for rewrites, along with Brandon's stunt-double taking his place for certain scenes. It was viewed as a controversial decision.

“There was never a question about the technical ability to finish the movie,” Pressman says. “But there was a serious question psychologically, and it really revolved around Proyas. Alex at first did not want to go on with the film. He was destroyed by the accident and so devastated he had no heart to continue. It was only because Eliza [Lee’s fiancée], and later the whole cast and crew, appealed to him that he started to consider it.''

Of course, with all that took place recently, fans can't help but link it to Hutchins' recent tragic passing.

Brandon Lee's Family Spoke Out Following Halyna Hutchins' Passing

Following Halyna's tragic passing on the set of 'Rust', fans were reminded of the Brandon Lee situation, which featured similar circumstances. 28 years after the terrible tragedy, Lee's family spoke out, including Lee's late partner Eliza Hutton.

''Twenty-eight years ago, I was shattered by the shock and grief of losing the love of my life, Brandon Lee, so senselessly. My heart aches again now for Halyna Hutchins' husband and son, and for all those left in the wake of this avoidable tragedy," Hutton tells PEOPLE.

''I urge those in positions to make change to consider alternatives to real guns on sets," she says.

Lee's sister would also issue a statement via Twitter. ''"Our hearts go out to the family of Halyna Hutchins and to Joel Souza and all involved in the incident on Rust. No one should ever be killed by a gun on a film set. Period."

At the very least, here's to hoping that changes are finally made on Hollywood sets, especially when it comes to the dangerous use of firearms.
