Many fans are agreeing with Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine on the scarcity of bands in this day and age.

During an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, the singer looked back at the launch of his own band and commented that bands are "a dying breed."

"It's funny, when the first Maroon 5 album came out, there were still other bands," Levine said, adding, "I feel like there aren't any bands anymore, you know? That's the thing that makes me kind of sad. There's no bands anymore, and I feel like they're a dying breed."

Clarifying his comments, Levine continued by stating, "I mean, there still are plenty of bands, and maybe they're not in the limelight quite as much, or in the pop limelight, but I wish there could be more of those around."

Many people on Twitter agreed with the rock star's comments. Currently, Billboard's Hot 100 has less than five bands on its countdown.

Several people, on the other hand,  found his comments offensive, stating that the singer should probably broaden his musical horizons. Even members from bands Garbage and Eve 6 reacted to his statements.

While the lead singer of Maroon 5 gave people plenty to debate about after his interview, he also discussed his new song titled "Beautiful Mistakes," featuring rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

In his interview, Levine also admitted that his band's new album is "not far off."

The last time Maroon 5 released an album was in 2017, with their sixth record titled, Red Blue Pills.
