Adele Reveals Why She Will Always Begin With Hello

The 33-year-old singer revealed to Oprah Winfrey that although her One Night Only performance is in honor of her new album's release, she will begin the concert by singing Hello.

"I'm always going to start with 'Hello,'" the singer said. "It'd be a bit weird if it was like, halfway through the set, you know? So yeah, I'm starting with it."

The award-winning singer further explained the origin of her song, sharing that it was about trying to find herself. Adele said to Oprah, "Hello" was "the beginning of me trying to find myself, and I hadn't figured out yet what it was that I had to do for that."

The Easy on Me singer also expressed the song's importance, detailing that the lyrics were written for the different versions of herself. "When I wrote it, it was a real ode to like, little me, older me, all of these things," the musician revealed.

Adele noted that the song stands for her continuing to exist in the different parts of her life. "It's just a song about like, 'I'm still here.' Like, 'Hi, I'm still here, I still exist in every aspect of my life.' "

Previously, Adele revealed that 30 was inspired by the many events in her life, especially her divorce from ex-husband Simon Konecki. The album was recorded to help her 8-year-old son understand why his parents got divorced, Adele shared in an interview with Vogue.

"I wanted to explain to him through this record, when he's in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness," the singer told the magazine.

Adele: One Night Only airs on Sunday, Nov. 14 on CBS and Paramount Plus.
