When Disney+ came out in November 2019, Disney fans' dreams came true because they could finally stream all of their favorite Disney movies as many times as they wanted for only a few dollars a month. The streaming service has forever changed the way we watch TV shows and movies. We're able to watch new Disney movies completely free and at home as long as we pay the monthly fee. That's something we've never been able to do before.

Not only did Disney+ change how we're able to stream movies, they also changed what we watch. Since many of the classic Disney movies were made decades ago, some of them have offensive material and Disney+ is trying to make it right by changing some of their content. They've censored a few movie scenes to make it more appropriate, so fans, especially kids, won't watch content that promotes harmful stereotypes. Here are 10 movies scenes they have censored.

10 ‘Aladdin’

Don’t worry, Disney+ didn’t take out any of Robin Williams parts—Aladdin wouldn’t be the same without him. But they did take out a line in one of the movie’s most famous songs. “In the theatrical release of the film, the song ‘Arabian Nights’ included the line ‘Where they cut off your ear, if they don't like your face.’ The line was viewed as insensitive, and when the movie was released on home video, the line was changed to ‘Where it's flat and immense and the heat is intense,’" according to CinemaBlend. It’s only one line, so the song is pretty much the same and it was changed for the better.

9 ‘The Lion King’

The Lion King was edited a little bit before it was released on home video years ago. Now Disney+ edited it again. “In one moment in The Lion King, Simba drops to the ground and kicks up dust, which for a brief moment, combines to, possibly, form the word ‘sex.’ It's been claimed that the easter egg is actually reading ‘sfx’ as a reference to the special effects department,” according to CinemaBlend. The filmmakers probably did just put the letters “sfx” in the movie, but Disney+ didn’t want to take any chances, so the dust doesn’t do anything in that scene now.

8 ‘The Rescuers’

The original version of The Rescuers is not like any other Disney movie. In one of the frames, you can actually see a picture of a naked woman. “It's a blink and you'll miss it moment, but years after the film was released, it was discovered that in a single frame, in a window that Bernard and Bianca fly past at high speed, you could see an image of a topless woman that was apparently placed there by an animator with a sense of humor,” according to CinemaBlend. Obviously Disney+ edited that out, but it’s still there in the original version of the movie.

7 ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’

Who Framed Roger Rabbit isn’t as bad as the naked woman in The Rescuers, but some people thought Jessica was half naked in one scene in the original version of the movie. According to CinemaBlend, “Jessica's underwear was actually visible in the scene, but the color was close enough to her skin tone that some thought she wasn't wearing underwear. This film saw a couple of edits, the first made Jessica's underwear white, so it's more obvious that's what you were seeing. However, later versions of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, including the one on Disney+, make sure the dress keeps everything covered.”

6 ‘Adventures In Babysitting’

Adventures in Babysitting is one of the Disney live-action classics that came out in 1987. Although there’s some cursing in it, it was rated PG back then since the rules for the PG-13 rating weren’t set yet. Disney+ edited it, so it would be more like a PG rated movie. According to CinemaBlend, “The movie was previously available on Disney+, and will be again, but the version found originally included the TV edit that replaces the F-word with something less vulgar.”

5 ‘Toy Story 2’

Toy Story 2 didn’t have any scenes in the movie cut, but one of the bloopers during the credits didn’t make it to Disney+. “Following the ‘Me Too’ movement, the blooper where Stinky Pete is putting the moves on a pair of Barbie dolls and offering them some ‘acting lessons’ was ripped straight out of the end credits,” according to ScreenRant. Honestly, we’re completely okay with that blooper being cut. It was always really creepy and the other bloopers are a lot more hilarious anyway.

4 ‘The Little Mermaid’

Mistakes can happen when someone is animating—but this mistake turned a scene into something much worse than it actually was. “In the moment when Eric nearly marries Ursula, there was a moment when it appeared that the priest performing the ceremony was getting a tad, uh, excited. Disney claimed that the priest just had some knobby knees, and that's what was sticking forward. In the end, it was decided to change the scene so that it wasn't a question either way,” according to CinemaBlend. Disney+ made the priest’s knees clearer, so it doesn’t look like something else.

3 ‘Splash’

Disney+ edited this mermaid movie too. The live-action film had some nudity in it, so Disney+ edited it to make it more family friendly. “In the original version, the camera follows Hanks’ gaze, showing a brief glimpse of a naked butt. Splash received a PG rating because of the shot (and the insinuation that came with it), but people watching the movie on Disney Plus are greeted with an entirely different version of the scene… Disney used CGI hair to cover actress Daryl Hannah’s body,” according to The Verge. A few other scenes might have been edited too, but Disney didn’t confirm which ones were.

2 ‘Lilo & Stitch’

Lilo hiding in a pizza box inside a cabinet with Nani sitting on top of it looking at her in Lilo and Stitch.

Lilo & Stitch has one of the biggest edits on Disney+—they changed a dryer into a cupboard with a pizza box in it. “People distinctly remembered a scene where Lilo hid from her sister in a clothes dryer, but the scene in the movie now shows Lilo hiding in a cupboard, where she uses a pizza box to block off the hole,” according to CinemaBlend. It looks kind of weird at first, but Disney+ changed the scene for an important reason. They didn’t want kids to see the original version and try to hide in a dryer.

1 ‘Hamilton’

Since Hamilton is such a popular musical, Disney had to turn it into a movie. They couldn’t include everything that’s in the musical though. “It's not the most scandalous show on stage, but it isn't exactly a Walt Disney production. So when one of the songs literally had a bleeped-out term, it kind of shattered the sanctity of a stage production,” according to ScreenRant. There are 3 F-bombs in the original musical, but Disney+ edited 2 of those out to make it PG-13.
