Alexa Demie is best known for her role as Maddy Perez on HBO’s hit show Euphoria, but one of the many facts fans don’t know about Demie is that she had a lucrative career before she landed the role of Maddy.

Much like her character on Euphoria, Alexa Demie is known for her iconic makeup looks, as well as for her sense of fashion both on and off-screen, which definitely played a role in her rise to fame.

People may have seen Demie’s work before they even really knew her name since she got her start as a fashion artist, and then found her way onto the big screen.

Demie, who has caught the attention of the media for allegedly lying about her age, has a past that is way more interesting to talk about than what year she was born.

Demie Has An Eye For Fashion

Alexa Demie was drawn to the arts at a young age, which led her to create her own line of sunglasses called Mainframe when she was just in high school.

Alexa Demie recently opened up about her past experience as a fashion designer on an episode of the ‘A24’ podcast with Nathan Fielder.

This was an after-school project like no other for Demie, as a store on Melrose Avenue, which her friend was connected, started carrying and selling her designs.

Her sunglasses blew up in Asia when artist G-Dragon started wearing her brand, and soon that popularity traveled to the United States when artists like Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Lopez started stepping out in them.

She even designed a custom pair for one of Nicki Minaj’s first music videos, ‘Massive Attack’.

Demie Got Her Start In Music Videos

Alexa Demie not only designed glasses for music videos, but she starred in some herself.

Demie landed a role in Azalea Banks’ music video for ‘ATM Jam’, which featured Pharrell Williams, where she danced to the music in clothes that Maddy Perez would undoubtedly approve of.

Next, she landed roles in two of JMSN’s music videos.

Her first collab with JMSN was on the music video ‘Slide’, which is over six minutes long and features a nearly unrecognizable Demie in a short blonde wig as she rides around in a car with the singer.

She played the singer’s muse once more in his video 'Angelica' where the actress showed off her dancing skills.

Alexa Demie’s Film Debut

Alexa Demie made her feature film acting debut in the comedy-drama Brigsby Bear, where the actress played the character Merideth.

Demie acted opposite a star-filled cast, which included mark Hamill, Clarie Danes, and Andy Samberg.

In the film, a man is rescued from an underground bunker when it is discovered that he has become obsessed with a cartoon program that was created by the man that captured him.

Starring In Jonah Hill’s ‘Mid90s’

Jonah HIll’s directorial debut, Mid90s grabbed everyone’s attention, including Demie’s, as she joined the production as the character Estee.

The film is about teenagers growing up in Los Angeles, a storyline reminiscent of Demie’s own childhood as the star was actually born and raised in LA herself.

She plays a romantic character of sorts in the film, as Estee fawns over some of the skaters in the story, and hopes to be worshiped by others.

Landing A Role In ‘Waves’

Alexa Demie starred in the drama Waves as Alexis, a character that finds herself pregnant while she is still in high school and decides to keep that baby without the support of her boyfriend.

The film explores manslaughter, career-ending injuries, and addiction, which probably prepared Demie for her role in Euphoria, a show that deals with similar topics.

Launching Into ‘Mainstream’

Demie landed yet another role with a star-studded cast in the comedy-drama Mainstream. The film features Andrew Garfield, Maya Hawke, and Johnny Knoxville, among other noteworthy names.

In the film, Demie has scenes with Garfield himself, as she plays the character of Isabelle, a young girl who is teased for editing her birthmark out of photos. A particularly poignant part of the film, as it ultimately leads to more conflict for Garfield's character.

Alexa Demie Has Also Starred On The Small Screen

It may come as a surprise to fans, but Euphoria is not the first time Alexa Demie has been on a TV show.

Actually, her first time on the small screen was on Ray Donovan where she is credited for three episode appearances, followed by her time on the show Love, where she racked up two more TV appearances.

Right before she appeared on HBO as Maddy Perez in Euphoria, Alexa Demie also starred in an episode of The OA, where her Euphoria co-star Zendaya also landed on an episode.

The two did not share any scenes together, but the fact that Euphoria’s Maddy and Rue starred in different episodes of the same show in the same year is surely some sign of destiny.
