In a new Instagram post, American Horror Story Ryan Murphy revealed the official title and theme for the tenth season of the FX anthology series. The highly anticipated season will be titled “Double Feature.”

“Two horrifying stories...one season,” the caption read on teaser video. “One by the sea...One by the sand. More to come…”

The reveal comes after months of Murphy giving small hints across his social media accounts. He began teasing the tenth season of American Horror Story in March 2020, sharing a picture of two distorted hands crawling out of the ocean.

Even though the pandemic forced Murphy to alter his original, weather-dependent storyline, the season will be set in Provincetown, Massachusetts.

Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Evan Peters, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, and Finn Wittrock will star in the new season, along with new cast member Macaulay Culkin,

Wittrock recently told Entertainment Weekly that Season 10 will be a “much different tone” than the previous seasons.

"I think this is OK to say, I think the suspense in this and the tight, constrained nature of the story is different than other seasons. I was really interested in trying to mount the pressure in the right way if that makes sense," he said.

He added that his character is the “most normal” person he’s ever played on the show.

"What's fun about this show is that no two things are ever the same," he said. "It's like, 'Do you wanna come in and do this single episode or do you wanna come in and be the lead of this season?' 'Do you wanna come be a crazy psycho killer?' 'Do you wanna come in and be this relatively normal dad?' You just never know what you're gonna get."

After the official theme was announced on social media, some fans of the FX show were not too pleased to hear the new details. Some fans were quick to say that they were dissatisfied with the title for Season 10.

Some other fans mentioned that they didn’t like the idea of two narratives in one season. The idea of double plotlines raised a concern that the story would be rushed, leaving many viewers in a state of confusion.

Of course, all of this is only speculation, and fans who have stuck with the popular show so far will simply have to wait and trust the creator's vision until they can judge for themselves whether the gamble of two storylines actually pays off.
