We've gotten to know Lana Del Rey through her songs. The existential angst, daddy issues, and Summertime Sadness. Now, she isn't always riding in cars with boys like her album covers suggest. But it's hard to picture where the melancholy-driven singer puts her sad girl act to rest at the end of the day. Well, it's certainly not in a sugar daddy's mansion or the Motel 6 in Coney Island. The Young and Beautiful singer bought two adjoining mansions in the Hollywood Hills in 2016.

Selling Sunset's real estate agent Christine Quinn once said, "Billionaires have compounds, millionaires have views." Well, Del Rey got herself both. Let's see what's inside this Paradise.

Why Lana Del Rey Bought Two Homes

It might have been a revenge purchase. Real estate is a little too much, but we can't blame her. The year before Del Rey got herself this compound, she was living with her ex-boyfriend, photographer Francesco Carrozzini. The two split just a few weeks after he bought a breathtaking, $5.4 million Beverly Hills home. It seemed like the perfect home for the two to build a future together. It had a couple of undeveloped lots which fans thought was an ideal place for Del Rey to build a music studio if she wanted.

Now the Lust for Life singer could have more than a music studio in her own compound. Some say it even looks like she's building an entire empire there. The large property has amazing canyon views you can check out while relaxing on the stunning decks and patios. There's also a cozy swimming pool kinda hidden inside a tree-topped nook. How's that for a breakup middle finger?

LDR also seems to have people over her house a lot. She might sing about frequenting the strip clubs, but she seems just as cool in the domestic department.  We can at least imagine her singing and doing poetry reading with her loved ones in her big yard or outdoor dining area. We're pretty sure there are a lot more things we don't know about Lana Del Rey's home life.

The Compound's History

It's really fascinating to know what kind of modern home would fit Lana Del Rey's distinct retro aesthetic. Well, one that has won The Wall Street Journal's home of the month. And that's just for her first new home. It was built in 1936, so little touches from that era remain, accentuating the spacious central room's modern wood ceilings, huge windows, and glass doors. Talk about a perfect spot to overlook the lush lawns and hills surrounding the property.

Del Rey's second home was also built in the same year. It's very ranch-like with hardwood floors, wood-beamed ceilings, and an overall homey atmosphere. Both houses have their own pool and guesthouse, but this second property might be the singer's favorite. It has panoramic canyon views that can be enjoyed from the pool area and a big backyard secluded from it all.

Public photos of the properties don't show any of Del Rey's personal decor. But both exterior and interior fixtures already make a great canvas for that Lana Del Rey aesthetic. Let's hope celebrity house-raiders like Vogue or Architectural Digest finally makes it to this underrated mansion. We're sure the fans are extremely curious if she keeps a stash of Camel cigarettes or a closet full of iconic outfits from her music videos.

Lana Del Rey's Mansion In Numbers

If this real estate were indeed a breakup revenge purchase, then Lana Del Rey did it right. She dropped $5.8 million on the compound, as in $4 million more than her ex paid for his Beverly Hills mansion. She got house number one for $3.77 million. It has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms within a 5,432 square feet lot on the Studio City border, next to Coldwater Canyon. It's also stunningly positioned at a long driveway on a 2-acre property.

House number two, which sits right behind the first, was worth $2.1 million. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. This smaller piece of heaven measures 2,829 square feet. That makes the whole compound 8,261 square meters. We can only imagine how visitors could easily get lost in Del Rey's home. But that also makes it a great venue for some grand party. No wonder the singer's friends are always hanging out there with her.

We could also assume that being alone in that compound may have triggered Lana Del Rey to release all those depressing music. However, her recent album Lust for Life shows that living in that mansion the past years has somewhat inspired her to find some light in life, or at least the summertime, when the livin's easy.
