Rumors concerning Saweetie and Quavo’s relationship first came about over the summer of 2018 when the Icy hitmaker appeared in her boyfriend’s music video for his song Workin’ Me, lifted from his debut album, Quavo Huncho.

At the time, neither one would confirm or deny whether they were seeing one another, but given that they had also been frequently spotted out and about together, fans went with the assumption that there was definitely a romance blossoming between the two.

By September 2018, Saweetie publicly addressed her love life during an appearance on The Real, telling the studio audience that after having spent a lot of time working with Quavo on her forthcoming music, they naturally formed a close relationship, adding that they were, in fact, dating.

Their relationship has often been compared to Cardi B and Offset's romance; the latter makes up one-third of the Migos group, but what else do we know about Saweetie and Quavo's romance?

When Did They Start Dating?

"You know, we worked together, and ever since then we’ve been getting to know each other,” Saweetie told the hosts of The Real in 2018. "I enjoy his company.”

Things went pretty quiet for the couple soon after the California native spoke out about their romance, but that wasn’t because things were cooling off between the two - they just preferred being a little more private about it given the relationship was still fairly new.

In March 2019, Quavo and Saweetie collaborated on the song Emotional, with an accompanying music video that followed the very same month.

When talking about his experience working with his girlfriend on the track, Quavo told Billboard: "I just had to put my real bars to it.

“It’s a dope song, but also her whole album — her whole EP — and the way she just comes in the game, her whole West Coast style is just different and unique, so that’s why I’m happy to be a part of it.”

When Quavo celebrated his 28th birthday in April 2019, Saweetie surprised her man with a classic Chevrolet, and though she’s rather private about her personal life, the Tap In rapper posted a video of her beau reacting to the surprise on her Instagram.

When Quavo’s sister, Kashara Marshall, tied the knot in May 2019, a video clip was posted on his Instagram Story of Saweetie- who had attended the event with her man - catching the bouquet, with the text: “Guess we next,” implying that marriage was the next step for the couple.

For the remainder of 2019, Saweetie and Quavo were still going strong, collaborating on yet another track, titled Too Much, before the 29-year-old Georgia-born star would surprise his woman at a strip club hosting gig in Los Angeles with the Migos crew, who “helped Saweetie top $45k on exotic dancers,” according to TMZ.

The two were rocked by cheating allegations made by a woman named Lashae Clair on Twitter, who insisted she had been talking with the rap superstar for months and that his romance with his longtime girlfriend wasn’t all that it’s made out to be.

"He messaged me 'Sup pretty this qua' after that we started talking and It’s crazy how these girls that’ll do anything for their man," she said. "Meanwhile they’re being cheated on, Offset messing my friend no one is Safe in these streets."

"Quavo messaged me on Instagram back around August, it all started from here. I guess cause I don’t have a lot of following it was okay for him to message me,” Clair continued, along with a screenshot of what appeared to be a chat between her and Quavo concerning a get-together in New York.

Not long after the rumor went viral, a string of evidence provided by fans on social media proved that Lashae’s claims were bogus after all, and if she thought she was going to get any sort of attention from the power couple, she was wrong because they never even acknowledged the contrived rumor - especially not with the holidays right around the corner.

By Christmas 2019, Quavo and Saweetie showed fans that the recent scandal hadn’t affected their relationship in the slightest when the My Type chart-topper flaunted a $75,000 diamond snowflake pendant gift from her man.

In May 2020, Quavo continued to talk highly of his USC graduate girlfriend in his interview with Page Six, telling the publication that Saweetie was a great role model to her impressionable fans.

“She speaks for the pretty college girls that are taking the regular route. You don’t have to be a stripper, you don’t have to be a bartender, you don’t have to take the Instagram model route."

"I feel like she’s speaking for those nice, teenage girls who listen to their parents and go to school.”
