Fans of Andy Cohen and his nighttime chat show, Watch What Happens Live, know that he’s a dog lover. His own dog, Wacha, used to visit the set from time to time, but after he went after a guest, looking to nip, Wacha was no longer Cohen’s sidekick.

Cohen's fans also know that he’s a new dad. His son Benjamin is the love of his life, and although Wacha was his first “child,” baby Benjamin is his world. Benjamin was born on February 4, 2019.

Unfortunately, the baby and the dog don’t mix. Cohen had to find Wacha a new home, something that was heartbreaking and incredibly difficult for him to come to terms with.

What’s Best For Benjamin

Cohen admitted he was holding off sharing the news that Wacha was no longer living under his roof. While he didn’t say what happened in detail, he alluded to the notion that the dog was aggressive at times, and we can only assume this meant he was acting this way towards Benjamin.

The Bravo host explained, “After an incident a few months ago, numerous professionals led me to the conclusion that my home is simply not a good place for him. Keeping him here could be catastrophic for Ben and worse for Wacha.”

A Familiar Family

The good news is that Wacha is now living with the family who took care of the dog whenever Cohen would go out of town, so he’s familiar with his new owners. This means that Cohen is able to see Wacha regularly.

Cohen shared with his fans how much Wacha means to him, and always will, and how the dog opened his heart to love. “When he came into my life, my world changed,” Cohen said. He still loves his dog to pieces, but they will no longer be able to live under the same roof.

Best of luck to Wacha in his new forever home. It seems like Cohen made the decision that was best for everyone involved, as sad as he is that it had to come to this. He surely didn't take the decision lightly, but safety was his primary concern.
