What Your Animagus Form is According to Your MBTI®

When J.K.Rowling first introduced the fact that some wizards are able to transform into different animals, fans across the globe were beside themselves with excitement. Many people began wondering what animal they would become if they were ever given the chance to achieve such a feat. After all, this is a question that is often asked of people, and if they had the opportunity, most people probably already know what animal they would want to be.

People have attempted to make sense of the meaning behind each Animagus and how it represents a specific wizard's personality traits. However, we wanted to take a more scientific approach. By using the MBTI personality typing system and connecting it to several different animals, we have created a guide to uncovering which Animagus goes along with which personality type.

8 Otter- ESTP

Via Marine Mammal Commission

Like the famous owner of the Patronus version of this animal, Hermione Granger, ESTP’s are people who are lead by a combination of their feelings and emotions as well as a thirst for all things logical. These people get the most satisfaction from doing things rather than planning and would rather make a mess that they need to later clean up than simply sit still and let the problem (and the world) pass them by.

These people are equally driven by both their hearts and mind. Anyone who is anyone should consider themselves exceptionally lucky to have received such a wonderful and well-known Animagus. Also, who wouldn't want to be an otter?

7 Aardvark- INTJ

Via National Geographic Kids

Just like the small yet hardy Aardvark, INTJ’s are naturally introverted and value both self-sufficiency and the ability to process things in their own time rather than in groups. INTJ’s are the type of people who would rather plan out every possible course of action before committing to a decision and the idea of uncertainty is often paralyzing to this type.

That does not mean that they are not actively participating in the world; they simply prefer the role of observer rather than doer. I don’t know about you, but this type sounds like the kind of person that I would love to spend my time with.

6 Wild Rabbit- INFP

Via Video Blocks

Like the in-Universe character who was lucky enough to be gifted with the Patronus version of this animal, Luna Lovegood, the wizards who have the ability to inhabit the Wild Rabbit Animagus are a dreamy bunch who love nothing more than getting lost in the fantastical and wonderful aspects of the world.

These types are referred to as the INFP type and are marked by an affinity for all things revolving around daydreaming, idealism, optimism, and their imaginations. These types are known for having their heads up in the clouds and never wanting to come back down. That explains why characters like Alice in Wonderland and Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon) are often associated with these creatures.

5 Snake- ISTP

Via Cottage Life

Very few people have been lucky enough to receive the Snake type Animagus. There are a lot of stereotypes associated with his animal, but I like to see a softer side to them. Like the mysterious and unpredictable dragons themselves, ISTP’s have the uncanny ability to balance an exceptionally rational and well thought out nature while also being unpredictable and spontaneous in their actions.

While the combination of these four traits seems exceptionally contradictory, they blend together seamlessly in all true ISTP typed people. ISTP typed people have an utter knack for being closed books that can be difficult to read due to this odd trait combination.

4 Hedgehog- ISFJ

via good housekeeping

If I had to choose any other Animagus besides the wild rabbit, it would be the Hedgehog. Like the delicate and gentle Hedgehog, ISFJ types are very nurturing by their nature. When met with an act of genuine kindness and generosity, ISFJ's will typically react by unleashing their own tsunami of totally kind-hearted actions towards those who have helped them.

Sensitive, soft, and considerate; these types are driven by a need to help others no matter the personal cost to themselves. They live to help and these types could not even stomach the idea of harboring a negative thought towards another creature.

3 Dolphin- ESFJ

Via Camera Club

Like the incredibly social and interaction driven Dolphin, ESFJ types are some of the most outgoing and extroverted people that you will ever come across on this Earth. They thrive in social situations and can even feel low if they have not socially interacted with another person for an extended period of time.

These types seek the spotlight in any situation in which they are presented and revel in social situations. The ESFJ would feel completely lost if not surrounded by their friends and loved ones. Much like a dolphin, an ESFJ tends to be found in a group, enjoying life and sharing their happiness with others. Fun Fact: this typing is actually one of the most common personality types.

2 Wolf- ENTJ

Via Michigan Radio

Like the intelligent and calculating wolf, ENTJ types are inherent leaders in life that believe that all problems should be solved through a rational and logical fueled lens. Without even trying to, this type tends to take charge of any given situation as the idea of waiting around for someone else to make a plan does not sit well with them.

The ENTJ gets their sense of worth from making decisions that benefit both themselves and the people following them and often struggle when the power dynamics suddenly shift and they find themselves having to take on a background role.

1 Question Marked Butterfly - ENTP

Via Butterfly Identification

It only seems natural that one of the rarest types of butterfly would match up perfectly with one of the rarest MBTI types on the list. ENTP's are a fascinating bunch. They are technically considered extroverted, however they shy away from most types of conversation and social gatherings while still requiring regular interactions in order to thrive.

Their thirst for logic and ability to disconnect from the world in order to view things objectively leads to a feeling of unrest if they are not engaged in situations which stimulate them mentally. ENTP's just want to understand the world better and try to use that understanding to put a little bit of good back into it.
