Pictures of Anya Taylor-Joy from the upcoming movie Last Night in Soho have taken social media by storm.
The film is directed by Scott Pilgrim vs. The World filmmaker Edgar Wright and also stars Jojo Rabbit’s Thomasin McKenzie. In the first-look pictures circulating online, Taylor-Joy seems to have channelled her best London looks to play her 1960s character.
Last Night In Soho Sees Anya Taylor-Joy As Singer Sandy
Last Night in Soho will be Wright’s eighth film as a director. The English filmmaker, also known for his beloved Cornetto Trilogy and Baby Driver, penned the script together with Scottish Oscar-nominated screenwriter Krysty Wilson-Cairns.
The film is a psychological horror involving time travelling. Protagonist Eloise (McKenzie) is a young woman with a passion for fashion design. She inexplicably realizes she’s able to time travel to the 1960s to meet her idol, glamorous wannabe singer Sandy, played by The Queen’s Gambit star. But London is dark and full of mystery and time travel always comes at a cost.
Taylor-Joy traded the 1950s of the Netflix chess miniseries for the vibrant Swinging London atmosphere. The first pictures on set see the actress donning a retro hairdo. She is presumably sporting a blonde wig and one can also catch a glimpse of Sandy’s vibrant floral dress under the character’s white PVC coat. The ensemble is complemented by a pair of leather boots in a natural color.
According to Vanity Fair, the actress will dance and sing a cover of Petula Clark’s Downtown in the movie.
Two Harry Potter Stars Will Appear On 'Last Night In Soho'
Alongside Taylor-Joy and McKenzie, the cast also includes Shadow and Bone star Jessie Mei Li, Matt Smith, Terrence Stamp, and late legendary actress Diana Rigg, who most recently appeared as Lady Olenna Tyrell on Game of Thrones.

Last Night in Soho will also feature two Harry Potter stars. Twin actors James and Oliver Phelps, known for playing Fred and George Weasley on the franchise, will star alongside Taylor-Joy and McKenzie.
Taylor-Joy will next take on the role of a younger Furiosa, the character played by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road. Directed by George Miller, spin-off Furiosa will also star Chris Hemsworth and is set to begin production in Australia next year.
