It is widely known that Sony Pictures Entertainment holds the film rights to Spider-Man, and the company has mutually worked with Marvel Studios over the years to integrate the web-slinging hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The collaboration has earned both studios numerous feats, their latest project Spider-Man: No Way Home has grossed $1 billion at the box office, and both Sony and Marvel have expressed their wishes to continue working together.

After revealing that Spider-Man 4 is actively in the works, a new rumor has surface stating that Sony Pictures wants The Queen's Gambit actor Anya Taylor-Joy to play a well-known femme fatale from the Spider-Man universe — Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat.

Anya Taylor-Joy To Join The MCU?

Multiple fan portals including @MarvlUpdates have revealed to Twitter that Sony reportedly wants to cast Anya Taylor-Joy as Spider-Man's love interest/enemy/ally depending on which route the film takes. Previously, actress Felicity Jones played the character in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Tricia Helfer voiced the character in The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series.

Felicia Hardy has feline-based powers which include enhanced strength and agility. She also has a "bad luck aura" that she can use against her enemies. When her powers later mutate, she is granted extraordinary balance and retractable claws.

The character is known to comic book fans as Spider-Man's friend and enemy both, and the two share a complicated relationship. Black Cat was only attracted to the alter ego of Spider-Man, and is disinterested in the hero's normal life as Peter Parker. When his identity is revealed, she ends up being disgusted of him.
