Fictional characters have always come to Anya Taylor-Joy's rescue, whenever she needed them. While Harry Potter taught her to speak English, the Lord of the Rings franchise saved her from a boring Christmas!

A Christmas Tradition Unlike Others

Christmas looked different for families over the globe this year, with the pandemic changing the way we look at celebrations. Like many actors, Anya Taylor-Joy also found herself alone during the holiday season, but she had a plan to make the most of it.

The American-Argentine-British actor appeared on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert, and discussed how her favorite tradition made her feel a little less lonely on Christmas.

"I understand on Christmas day, you watched all of the Lord of the Rings movies in a marathon. Is that why you now look like Galadriel?" Colbert asked Taylor-Joy, who had traded her naturally blonde hair for striking, platinum blonde locks.

"Honestly, I've been trying to look like an elf my entire life. That is my number one goal in life," Taylor-Joy shared.

Fans were surprised by the uncanny resemblance Anya shared with the Elven lady. "It’s interesting that Anya talks about looking like an Elf because she looks more Elven than the actors playing elves in Lotr."

Another Lord Of The Rings fan had an idea for a cool casting choice, and Amazon Prime Video should take notes! "If anyone is gonna play Galadriel's daughter, it is certainly Anya."

Later, Anya shared her favorite tradition, which included spending time with people from Middle-earth all day.

"For a lot of us, Christmas this year looked very different. I usually would spend Christmas in Argentina with my family, and this year I was in London pretty much by myself."

Her time alone in London implored her to bring back a fun tradition! "I thought, okay, you have to find a way to bring something positive to this. What's a wonderful tradition that you really enjoy?"

She announced: "The answer is obviously, Lord of the Rings."

The actor proved her high-ranking status as a nerd, when she discussed the film's theatrical and extended cuts.

"Theatrical cut for the first one, extended cut for Two Towers [2002] because you know, I love two towers. Return of the King, theatrical cut because the person I was with fell asleep, which is sacrilege," she shared.
