In late 2005, Victoria Justice landed her breakout role as Lola Martinez in Nickelodeon’s teen comedy-drama Zoey101, starring Paul Butcher, Christopher Massey, and, of course, its lead star Jamie Lynn Spears. The show, which became one of the network’s highest-rated original programs, spanned four seasons before concluding its successful run in 2008, following the news of Spears’ pregnancy.

The latter took a lengthy hiatus from Hollywood to focus her attention on motherhood, subsequently resulting in her decision to leave Los Angeles, and since Spears was no longer going to partake in a fifth series, Zoey101 was canceled. Several of its cast members contend to enjoy Hollywood success, such as Justice, who landed her own show on Nickelodeon in 2010, titled Victorious.

In late 2020, Spears announced that she’d been in talks to star in a Zoey101 reboot, and she would be bringing back the majority of its original cast, including Justice. Since the mother of two had taken such a long break from acting, fans have been curious to know whether she’s still close to the likes of Justice, with whom she appeared to have shared a close bond on-set. Here’s the lowdown…

Are Victoria Justice And Jamie Lynn Spears Friends?

Prior to the announcement of a reboot being in the works, Justice seemed to have made it pretty clear that she had still been in touch with some of her fellow cast members, such as Spears, despite wrapping production on the fourth and final series of Zoey101 back in 2008.

While they hadn’t worked together in well over a decade, Justice noted that living in Hollywood has seen her run into her ex-cast members all too often, adding that everyone has been very supportive of each other’s individual projects and that she was hopeful for a reunion in the future.

In an interview with Life & Style from 2019, the 28-year-old credited Spears for taking a step back from the limelight to be fully attentive to motherhood, having welcomed her three-year-old daughter, Ivey Joan Watson, the year prior.

“I mean she’s killing it. I’m so happy for her. She seems like she’s so happy and she’s a great mom and yeah, I’m just really happy for her,” Justice said when asked about her thoughts of Spears’ career shift from rising superstar to private life in Louisiana.

That same year, the cast of Zoey101 held a mini-reunion with creator Dan Schneider, but Spears was not in attendance because she was caught up filming another project out in Atlanta at the time.

While fans were quick to speculate whether the blonde beauty didn’t attend because she simply didn’t want to be there, Spears later clarified her absence, stressing there were scheduling conflicts preventing her from reliving some of her favorite memories with her fellow cast members.

“Not only did I miss the reunion, but I also missed the FaceTime, because I’m lame and fell asleep … thank y’all for the video and hope to see y’all very soon,” Spears wrote in the caption of a photo showing her cast living it up with Schneider at the reunion.

In March 2021, despite initial talks that a Zoey101 reboot was in the works over at Nickelodeon, Justice told Entertainment Tonight that she was still waiting to hear from the show bosses since executives have yet to actually greenlight the project.

A reunion special was filmed in 2020, leading many to believe the reboot had already been picked up, but by the look of things, nothing has been finalized as of yet.

“To be honest with you. I don’t really know much about it. I was hearing things about a reboot, but no one had ever really talked to me specifically about it. So I don’t really know exactly what’s going on,” the brunette gushed. “But I mean, I love that cast, I love that show… but there’s nothing official right now.”

Following her time on Zoey101, Justice went on to star in her own sitcom, Victorious, which also lasted four seasons and enjoyed a three-year run on Nickelodeon from 2010 to 2013.

Justice has also been dedicating a lot of her time to her music career, having released a string of songs in recent months, including “Treat Myself” and “Stay.”

She’s also starred in a number of movies over the years, such as 2012’s Fun Size, The First Time, Bigger, and The First Time.

With nothing set in stone just yet, fans will have to wait a little longer to see whether or not we’ll see Spears and Justice back in action for another run of Zoey101, but considering all the reboots that have taken place lately, it’s inevitable that this show will get the same treatment.
