When it comes to being a major name in music, it seems like getting involved in a feud is simply part of the game. Whether it's a beef between two rappers, problems between two major signers, or a mixed bag that no one saw coming, feuds seem inevitable for music's biggest stars.
Some time ago, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj began their feud while serving as judges on American Idol. Things got ugly between them, and many have since wondered where they stand today.

Nicki Minaj, meanwhile, blew up in the 2010s and hasn't look back since. Much like Mariah Carey, the rapper has found an unbelievable amount of success on the Billboard charts, racking up chart-topping hits and major albums, too.
Though Minaj is much younger in the game than Mariah Carey, both have had a hand in shaping the younger artists the people enjoy today, and their influence will continue to be felt for years to come.
Years back, American Idol was looking to shake things up, and they made the bold decision to pair up Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj as judges on the show. This decision would blow up in no time.
They Had Problems On 'American Idol'
Pairing Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey together on American Idol might have seemed like a great idea, but in truth, it was a disaster waiting to happen.
There were reports of the duo butting heads, they clearly had some issues on screen, and eventually, a video surfaced showing some serious problems between the two, which made for headline-stealing material.
At one point, a source told People, "Mariah has been saying little things to jab at Nicki from day one of shooting. Mariah doesn’t think Nicki can sing and doesn’t think she should be judging folks. Nicki has been taking all of the jabs, but on this particular day she lost it.”
Minaj, meanwhile, gave her side of things.
"I don’t know. It was just two big old divas, I guess. I was just like sitting there, and I guess before I went in there I heard all the stuff that was being said, but I didn’t believe it. I heard them saying ‘Mariah doesn’t want you on the panel’ but I was like, ‘No. I am friends with Mariah.’ I was like arguing people down. Like, ‘Don’t believe everything you read, you’re crazy.’ And so I went there and I started to feel a bit of the shade," she said.
There was clearly no love lost between the pair, and they both departed the show in due time.
It's been some years, and people want to know where these two stand today.
Are They Still Feuding?
So, are Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj still feuding? Nothing is confirmed at this point, which could be either a good or bad thing.
In 2015, Carey opened up about the experience, and how she feels like they were pitted against one another.
"I’m not going to get into what it was, but let’s just say I don’t think they had any intentions for us to have a good experience doing that show. Pitting two females against each other wasn’t cool," Carey said.
This does not provide much clarity on their current standing, but it does suggest that the tension between them was exacerbated by outside forces.
Minaj and Carey have not spoken about things in a long time, so things are still up in the air, as far as people know. While they could have buried the hatchet, there is a chance that there is still lingering tension between the two.
