New Girl, the adorable Fox sitcom starring Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Hannah Simone, and Lamorne Morris, has stolen the hearts of millions of fans all around the world. The series first aired back in 2011 and lasted a whopping 7 seasons before ending in 2018.

Considering the cast worked together over the span of 8 years, it is evident that they had plenty of time to develop relationships that go well beyond just purely professional. With television show casts spending most of their time together, much like the stars of Friends, and The Office, there's no denying the relationships curated behind the scenes.

Updated on September 30, 2021, by Michael Chaar: New Girl certainly comes out on top as one of the best sitcoms to date. The show, which began back in 2011 ran for 7 seasons before it officially ended in 2018. Considering fans adored the cast, it's only fitting to wonder if they were close behind the scenes. Well, despite keeping in touch since the series ended, it turns out the cast has yet to fully reunite. This past June, the cast and creators of New Girl appeared on Variety's Virtual TV Fest for their first-ever virtual reunion in honor of the series' 10th anniversary. While fans have been hoping for a real reboot, it doesn't appear as if the cast is on board with that idea. Although they are still pals, the cast wasn't always super close. According to a number of sources, Zooey, Jake, Max, Hannah, and Lamrone never really spent time together outside of filming for the show, which might come as quite a shock to some hardcore fans.

Life doesn't always imitate art. While they portray a wholesome group of friends, the cast of New Girl doesn't hang out on a daily basis. Ever since the show ended, they haven't spent any time together, but that doesn't mean there is animosity between them.

They are simply too busy with their private as well as professional lives, especially considering the plethora of projects each individual cast member has taken on since the show's end.

While many fans weren't too thrilled to see Deschanel temporarily leave the show, she couldn't be happier with her replacement, Megan Fox, who played the sassy and confident Reagan. According to Bustle, the main star of the show actually had a say in hiring the Transformers star.

Hoops is an animated sitcom that came out in 2020 and Jake worked on it as the executive producer as well as the main voice actor. He brought in several of his New Girl coworkers to lend their voices to the show, for example Max and Hannah.

According to EW, Jake confessed to not inviting Zooey simply because the show was too raunchy. He'd feel weird swearing so much in front of her. Since the show wasn't a major success, it was canceled after the first season.

1 A 'New Girl' Reunion

Despite fans of the series being heartbroken over the end of the series, viewers were delighted when the entire cast and show creators reunited for Variety's Virtual TV Fest this past summer. This marked the very first time that the entire cast managed to appear together, and while it may not have been an in-person event, fans were beyond thrilled to see them all together again. Although a televised reunion of sorts would be amazing, it doesn't seem as if we should be holding out breath for that one.
