A trip to the movies makes for a classic date - but rumor has it that three was a crowd on Ariana Grande's date night on Tuesday!
Grande and her husband Dalton Gomez were spotted in California on Tuesday night (August 31), attending a screening of the new horror flick Candyman. The "positions" singer and her beau are said to have met up with fellow chart-topper The Weeknd once inside the venue.
Although not pictured with the newlywed couple, The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, was photographed by paparazzi separately entering the building in which the screening was taking place. Now fans are speculating about the relationship between Grande and Tesfaye, and who exactly was doing the third-wheeling on this group movie trip. The two superstar musicians have collaborated multiple times with their most recent co-release being a remix of Tesfaye's smash hit "Save Your Tears" in April of this year.
One fan account captioned the shots of the pair separately entering the event. They tweeted, "someone said ariana went out with her husband and her work husband."

Despite their frequent collaborations and seemingly close friendship, things between Grande and Tesfaye appear to have only ever been platonic. Just last month, the pair reunited for a Vevo Live Performance of "off the table," a track they recorded for Grande's most recent album Positions.
Grande also recently showed love to Tesfaye's high-profile ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez after the former Disney star was videoed singing along to one of Grande's songs.
Some of Ariana's fans felt that supporting a romantic relationship between her and The Weeknd was disrespectful to Dalton Gomez, the real estate agent Grande wed in a private ceremony earlier this year. One person tweeted, "can you guys not ship abel and ariana u know damn well she's married."
Another Twitter user expressed frustration at the rumors between the two long-term collaborators and friends, writing, "why is it so hard to understand Ari and Abel are besties? men and women can just be friends u know that? AND ARIANA IS MARRIED FOR GOD SAKE."
Meanwhile, Grande fans were hopeful that the friendship between the two singers might mean that even more joint projects are in the works, with one tweeting, "need a plan for ariana and abel to make a joint album already cause it's what the people want".
But others were just happy to see their favorite celeb out and about, with @jihyobarbie tweeting, "let's forget abt the boys and look at how good ariana looks".
