The actress is determined that her Can't Do Nothing initiative will transform the world. This organization supports the global fight for the freedoms of refugees. After visiting Greece to aid refugees in 2016, she and businessman Eron Zehavi created the organization.

Vayntrub claims that she wants people to be mindful of the problem with refugees around the world as well as the solutions to these problems. In an interview with The Associated Press, Milana spoke about her trip saying, "I'm a much more grateful person now, we're so lucky to take being alive for granted."

She passed the California High School Proficiency Test as a sophomore and got her GED. That allowed her admission to the University of California, San Diego, where she obtained a degree in communications.

Straight out of college Vayntrub moved into a small apartment with her boyfriend. They could barely afford it and Milana was working non-stop. Either babysitting, improv, or at a smoothie shop. It was stressful, and she ended up forgetting to take her birth control for two days. That was enough, she wound up pregnant.

In an interview with the Daily Beast she said, “I immediately knew the right thing to do was to have an abortion. There was no hand wringing, no confusion, no sleepless nights. I’ve always had a strong moral compass—the kind that sets off blaring sirens and flashing red lights in my chest if I feel like I’m doing something wrong. In this case, all was silent. My compass pointed very clearly in the direction of not bringing a child into the world that I did not want and could not care for.”

She continued with, “Within two weeks, I had a safe procedure in my doctor’s office, and it was no big deal. My abortion story is uncomplicated and straightforward, based on a decision that was all my own. I understand this is a privilege. I also understand that access to abortion should never be a privilege; it should be a protected right.”

“My Judaism is the ancient people I come from and the ones I eat with on Fridays. I come from people who don’t budge. Those tortured, imprisoned, killed, forced to relocate and made to forget their own traditions. But actually coming to America, for my family, made us more Jewish. Here we met other Jewish families and re-adopted traditions the USSR literally outlawed. I freaking love knowing I’m a part of a people who exist because of our will, love, generosity, dry cookies, and a few miracles.”
