Avril Lavigne (the real one, not a lookalike) is getting ready to bless your ears with brand new solo music.

In recent years, Canada's pop punk princess has dabbled in everything from 'new alt' collabs with Modern Sunshine to Christian singles released under her own name. Now it looks like she's getting back to her roots, writing and recording the kind of edgy bops her fanbase has been begging for.

Avril's Working On New Music

In a post she shared to her IG this weekend, Avril told fans she was back in the studio. She posed in front of a bunch of guitars, including the type of electric guitar she built her early career on.

Avril actually taught herself to play guitar as a kid by strumming along to Lenny Kravitz's 'Fly Away.' Her early music was also heavily influenced by Nirvana, which she says is the band that inspired her to start making music in the first place. We are SO ready for more classic Avril sound to come out of these studio sessions.

Her New Album Comes Out Anytime Now

Answering a fan's comment ("hey queen, are we going to see the album in the first half of 2021?"), Avril responded: "music first half yes."

That means that sometime between now and July 1st (which happens to be Canada Day, perfect), Avril will drop an album that might put her solo self back on the charts - especially if Machine Gun Kelly stays involved. Get your neckties ready, people!
