Virgos are an earth sign, and they're known for being totally practical and extremely analytical. They're hardworking and are probably the most organized of the zodiac signs. However, there is more than meets the eye, and this sign is also extremely caring and selfless.

With summer in full swing, there are so many great beach reads out there from which to choose. To help direct the reading of all the Virgos out there, it's time to narrow it down to some wholesome novels fit for this sign. Here are 5 beach reads Virgos will love, and 5 they should definitely skip.

10 Love: All Adults Here By Emma Straub

In a new novel by the quirky and brilliant Emma Straub, this is a perfect summer read for anyone looking for a wholesome and hilarious story about family, love, school, and life.

Taking place over one summer, three adult children find a connection over new family members and a glorious small town. For hope and love, this book is perfect for the kind-hearted and caring Virgo.

9 Hate: Island Affair: A Fun Summer Love Story By Priscilla Oliveras

If there's anything that Virgos aren't about, it's impromptu vacations and uncertain romances. This popular novel follows a young woman, who asks a man to pretend to be her fiancé on her family vacation after her boyfriend dumps her at the last minute.

This summertime love story might be adorable, but Virgos aren't about pretending or lying. Plus, this would stress out any member of this earth sign way too much.

8 Love: Normal People By Sally Rooney

This novel was just made into a television series, so now is the perfect time to read this best-seller. This story takes place in secondary school and follows two teenagers, one popular, and one unpopular.

It might seem cliche, but this transitional story is the most relatable story, following that final summer before university. It's pure and wholesome and is the simple and relatable novel all Virgos can get behind.

7 Hate: City Of Girls By Elizabeth Gilbert

This novel is written by the brilliant mind behind Eat, Pray, Love, and while this adventurous and invigorating book is fascinating, it might be a bit too much for the cautious and intelligent Virgo.

Vivian moves to Manhattan and becomes invested in the lives of showgirls, actors, and many others with eccentric and unconventional lives. Virgos support any and all types of people, but this craziness is certainly not fit for a relaxing beach vacation.

6 Love: The Farm By Joanne Ramos

This underrated novel tackles a lot of different societal issues such as gender, class, race, and religion. Following tales of motherhood, this novel focuses on women and their futures.

This may not be as happy as a novel as the rest, but it's a pure and honest beach read that will go perfectly with a quiet sunset and a Virgo mind.

5 Hate: Life After Life By Kate Atkinson

This is one of those novels that involves living and dying until the main character finally understands what is "right" in their life. Taking place in mid-century England, this is definitely an interesting story that follows World World II.

However, any Virgo would simply be stressed and frustrated at a repeated life, and struggling to do everything right. This is quite frankly a Virgo's worst nightmare.

4 Love: Gone Girl By Gillian Flynn

This blockbuster flick was only the next step of this novel's fame. This might not be the wholesome tale that will fill a Virgo's heart, but it will satisfy their curious nature and their analytical mind.

A man's wife goes missing, and everything about their love and life seems mysterious. This novel is full of secrets, past, love, and family, and will intrigue the active Virgo mind from start to finish.

3 Hate: Crazy Rich Asians By Kevin Kwan

This national best-seller also became a blockbuster flick, and is definitely proving to be a popular beach read. However, a Virgo might not enjoy the materialistic and uncertain nature of this novel.

A New York woman travels to Singapore with her boyfriend to meet his family - and discovers they're filthy rich. A story of love and acceptance, this one lacks any real depth or challenge, and likely won't satisfy a Virgo.

2 Love: Wild By Cheryl Strayed

This novel is a memoir and is told by Cheryl, who shares her journey along the Pacific Crest Trail after she experiences a personal tragedy. This novel is the perfect summer read for hope, internal growth, and closure.

Any Virgo will love the journey that Cheryl embarks on, and how her determination and strong heart are what drives her. Plus, it's also now a film with Reese Witherspoon, which should be watched immediately after reading.

1 Hate: Where'd You Go, Bernadette? (By Maria Semple)

This is another story about disappearance, but this one is probably too outrageous and ridiculous for well-grounded Virgo. Bernadette is a quirky and antisocial mother, who suddenly disappears, and her family embarks to find her.

This is a satirical story and is meant to be hilarious and full of quirks. However, while Virgos like a good laugh, this campy novel might not fulfill their nights on the beach.
