At one stage, Chris pratt couldn't even afford a haircut, and now he's making millions with Robert Downey Jr. and riding motorcycles with a pack of velociraptors.

It's even said that he is worth a whopping $40 million. But with the Avengers movies, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Jurassic World, that's really not surprising.

Oh, and his marriage to Arnold's daughter, Katherine Schwarzenegger isn't going to hurt his net worth. Although, the two of them do have a baby on the way.

How Chris Ended Up So Poor

Chris Pratt was born in Virginia, Minnesota, raised in Washington, but ended up moving to Maui, Hawaii where he was eventually discovered by an actor and director, Rae Dwan Chong.

Pratt moved to Hawaii on a whim. He was that kind of guy. A free spirit. Someone who wasn't entirely sure of who he wanted to become. And that put him in as many difficult situations as it did exciting ones.

It's funny how that works.

According to Entertainment Weekly, it was Pratt's friend who offered to purchase him a one-way ticket to Hawaii. And he took it. Pratt had dropped out on college and tried to make ends meet by working as a discount ticket salesman and even an amateur stripper.

Yeah... Chris Pratt was a stripper... How is that not in all the headlines?

So, what else did he have to lose?

Pratt even told Buzzfeed that he was paid $40 to stirp for his friend's grandmother on her birthday. And this is one of the many moments in Pratt's life that just make us love him.

After arriving in Maui, Pratt ended up living in a van by the beach. Although, he didn't mind his time basically being homeless. He told The Independent that all he did was drank, smoked, and surfed all day.

His Chance Encounter With The Woman Who Changed His Life

Pratt had no money to speak of. Except for the few dollars he made working at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company where he waited on Rae Dwan Chong. The director and actor (The Color Purple) was convinced that she recognized Pratt from the movies. After asking him if he acted, Pratt simply said, "I act! Put me in a movie!"

Luckily for him, Chong was casting her first-ever short film, Cursed Part 3. Although, the movie "sucked" and was never actually released. But it did give Pratt a sense of who he wanted to become... As well as how he was going to end up making money.

The First Step To Success Was Getting Headshots... And It Got Creepy

While on The Graham Norton Show in 2019, Chris Pratt told another amazing story about how he got started in the film industry.

After randomly meeting Rae Dwan Chong, then moving to Hollywood, Chris had another chance encounter... Although this was one really creepy...

While working at a "terrible restaurant" in Beverly Hills, Pratt was on the lookout for headshots, which he needed to be able to get into casting rooms. Coincidentally, he bumped into a photographer who also seemed to recognize him...

Seriously, people... There's bound to be a more inventive pick-up line!

This photographer was convinced that he had shot Pratt before. He then asked Pratt if he modeled. This is when Pratt dropped the hint that he actually needed headshots done...

So, the photographer offered to shoot him back at his place...

Like the naive young man that he was, Pratt didn't know that going back to a stranger's house after being promised career favors isn't a smart move. But being the free-spirit that he was, Pratt was down.

He followed this flirtatious stranger back to his apartment where he was prepped for some photos... By showering first...

The photographer claimed that Pratt really needed to clean up and told him to go into the bathroom and use his shower.

Yep, Pratt ripped off his clothes and washed up in the stranger's house.

Afterward, the photographer even gave him some new clothes to wear and took multiple photos of him on the balcony. Then simply gave Pratt the film and sent him on his way.

Guess, some people are just kind...

If not just a tad creepy.

The results of the headshots were really quite good. Pratt looked gorgeous, although he admits that his hair was way too long.

But that's because he was only making $30 a day and just couldn't afford to get his hair cut.

But that was all about to change.

The Beginning Of Chris Pratt's Epic Career

In 2001, Pratt appeared in an episode of The Huntress, as well as landed a few smaller roles before earning a recurring spot on Everwood.
