Yo home to Bel-Air! In case you didn't know The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is getting a reboot. Bel-Air will drop on Peacock on Feb. 13. The first trailer for the series was released on January 10, and fans were excited to see the modern spin on the classic '90s comedy.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was a beloved sitcom that ran for six seasons. It starred Will Smith, who played himself, moving from West Philly to Bel-Air, CA, to get a second chance at life. While the original featured 30-minute sitcom episodes, the new series is will have hour-long dramatic episodes with a darker theme.
Executive produced by Will Smith, Bel-Air is all about "the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he's ever known," according to a YouTube synopsis.
The show would be nothing with its cast, so let's take a look at what we know about them.
10 Jabari Banks As Will Smith
Jabari Banks is the new Will Smith in the drama show. Banks was born in Atlanta and went to school in Maryland, but the ironic part is he does have family in West Philadelphia and even graduated from University of the Arts with a Bachelor's Degree in Musical Theater. He is very much like Smith in the sense that he raps, acts, sings, dance and plays basketball. Bel-Air is his first major on-screen role, according to his IMDb page. He has a promising career ahead of him.
9 Adrian Holmes As Uncle Phil
Adrian Holmes is a Welsh Canadian actor, who is taking on the role of Uncle Phil. The 47-year-old is known for his role on the Bravo series, 19-2. Holmes has a Bachelor's Degree in nursing after moving to Vancouver. He has also appeared in many other TV shows and movies such as Red Riding Hood, Arrow, Like Mike 2: Streetball and Smallville.
8 Cassandra Freeman As Aunt Viv
Cassandra Freeman will play Aunt Viv in the upcoming series. Freeman is an actress and writer, known for Inside Man, Luke Cage, Atlanta and Blue Bloods. According to IMDB, she is the co-editor-in-chief of beautylogicblog.com. She is also a wife and a mother and has fun on TikTok. The 42-year-old was born in West Palm Beach, Florida.
7 Olly Sholotan As Carlton Banks
Olly Sholotan will be playing Carlton Banks. He is a Nigerian-American actor, singer and music producer. He trained at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Sholotan was born in Atlanta, GA, but was raised in Houston, TX. As for his music career, he mostly focuses on music in short films and movies. He is a relatively new actor, who is trying to make a name for himself in Hollywood. Hopefully, we get to see him do "The Carlton" dance.
6 Akira Akbar As Ashley Banks
Akira Akbar might be young, but her career isn't. She is playing Ashley Banks, the youngest cousin, but where else do you know her from? Well, she portrayed Monica Rambeau in Captain Marvel and had roles in This Is Us , We Can Be Heroes and Criminal Minds. Before acting, Akbar was a model and has modeled for brands such as Nike and Levi's.
5 Coco Jones As Hilary Banks
Coco Jones is playing Hilary Banks in the upcoming reboot. She is a singer, rapper, songwriter and actress, best known for her role in the Disney Channel film, Let It Shine, and appearances in So Random! and Good Luck Charlie. Jones has released four EPs and 16 singles, even touring with the boyband Mindless Behavior.
4 Jimmy Akingbola As Geoffrey
Jimmy Akingbola is a British television, film and theater actor. He will portray, Geoffrey, the family's butler. Akingbola has an acting diploma from the Academy of Live and Recording Arts. Jordan L. Jones will play the role of Will's best friend, DJ Jazzy Jeff, or Jazz. He is an actor known for Snowfall, Rel, NCIS: Los Angeles and The Rookie. After graduating from the University of Southern California, Jones immediately searched out auditions. Not much is known about him since he keeps his life pretty private. But we can't wait to see him take on this role and hopefully, deliver some classic Jazzy Jeff moments.
